WA has rented the park out to a major film crew! Starting around February 9th they will be shooting Zombieland at WA, a new film starring Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Jesse Eiseberg. A good way to make money before the park opens for the season on Mar. 14th. :)
I thought maybe someone hacked their road signs. ;D
Ha ha! That's actually kind of cool.
I hope it works out well for the Herschend's.
I don't know anything about this, but doesn't it sound inconsistent with Herschend family values?
Sometimes money issues force us to make different decisions that if times are good. I am sure there is some contractual requirement that will not identify that park as related to the Herschend brand. What's this movie going to be rated?

It's too early for a rating, but it is supposed to be a horror/comedy. Also I've read that people who have called WA have found that the park will neither confirm nor deny that the film is being shot there. So that says something.
^^I hope the lack of money never gets in the way of my morals.
i don't really see a zombie movie as a lack of morals ??? and this thread has really gotten under my skin.
what's so bad about a zombie flick?
i'm christian and well, i love them!
(On the other hand that wacked out family the Duggers visited the park and it was a great thing.. personally breeding as a way of life ... that seems morally wrong to me.)
LET'S GO HERSCHENDS Bring the zombies to SDC!
I'll be the first to sign on as a zombie cave guide lol
I'd volunteer to be a zombie #58. ;D
Nothing wrong with zombies but when you remove people from the park for having attire with profanity and the movie filming on your property contains such words (have not read the script to confirm that's the case) than you are being a bit disingenious.
Wait, so a bunch of teenagers are going to be at the park?
(Zombieland indeed)
haha my thoughts exactly swoosh.. i worked the front gate and i've never heard so much profanity. even on cave tours people can get out of hand and start spouting things that are far worse than would be in a movie... and we smile and help them to make their day at the park a memory worth repeating .. as we will do at WA or zombieland.
I did not realize that SDC was in the business of selective enforcement. It's Ok some of the time but not others? Not my idea of a memory worth repeating.
Here is a link to the local newspaper info on the film. http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/local/local_story_015005248.html/resources_printstory (http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/local/local_story_015005248.html/resources_printstory)
Who really would have thought they would be filming soap operas at SDC? I think it is smart business if you ask me.

Since it's not a HFEC production, I don't think it should be much of a concern.
The general opinion amongst those in my group has been- why did we purchase this property? It was never a profitable entity, and there's no indication that it will be under HFEC management. At least corporate has found one way to turn a buck on it.
Well they seem convinced they own and operate the park

Yes, yes they do. And I sincerely hope it works out well.
