What does your user name mean?
Mine is smoke on the water.
It is the moniker that I have been using on several message boards for quite awhile and to stay consistant I used it here.
It goes back to a nickname I had in highschool because I owned so much Nike athletic apparrel.
It has always been my nickname with my friends and family. Don't ask me why because no one really knows. My mom started it. It works out well here because of roller coasters and such.
My nametag on park is Doc.
I work as a cave guide so - Speleo. = DocSpeleo
lol I thought it was creative.. lol
Mine was created when I got into the Quantum Leap fandom. My username is meant to be read as "Tina, Al's Girl". Tina was Al Calavicci's girlfriend on the show, and as she was a redhead like I am and I adore Al, that's why I decided upon that username.
Joy
My name is taken from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1-NpyaOWV0&feature=related) Monty Python skit.
Mine is the most creative on the entire site. Can you figure it out? ;)
The first three letters of my username are my initals and the rest says it all.
Mine was on the cover of a Dibert collection a few years back.
Mine is not very creative.. I live in Oklahoma hence the okla part and I guess you can figure out the SDC and the Fan part. I guess after reading the rest of your that I am not very creative. ;)
^Don't feel too bad. Your user name is as creative as mine. ;)
BetaMike refers of course to my first name "Mike" and "Beta" refers to the way you can sort of create a new identity (i.e. version 2.0 of yourself) on the internet. Thus BetaMike.
I first got online in 1995 (and that "free" month of AOL cost us about $65 when my then-wife discovered chat rooms!)
This was the early days of internet access outside of universities and DoD facilities, but I'd kept up with technology news, so I knew the folly of trying to stay anonymous, plus the general nature of online behavior when people think they can hide. I decided that I would never mask my identity, and would also use my real name and speak as if everything I did or said online, would one day be read by my mother and children.
Thus, my first initials and last name.
The "B" stands for "Ben", by the way, in case anyone cares.
Kevin
OK I'm not that old, but when I first found this site, I think I was one of the elder statesman so to speak. I have memories of the park from the 60's on and spent 18 yeard working there. I'm kind of like the granpa on the porch that tells the same storys over and over.......
^But we love your stories, Old Guy, no matter how many times we hear them! :)
Not to make you feel old, Oldguy, but I remember you at Silver Dollar City when I was a kid. I have a brochure or two with you in them.
Copper is the dog from Fox and the Hound.
I was doing a dog and pony show for SDC on Bozo at WGN TV in Chicago the day Pat Butrem (Mr. Hanny) was also on the show to promo the Fox and the Hound. Cool !
I love all things Steam powered...I'm 18...so I'm pretty much a freak.
^ So you like steampunk stuff then? ;)
Well, I had to google it but...yes cool stuff
Reviving an old thread!!!
Mine is simply an abbreviated version of my last name: McLaughlin
I'm from Wisconsin, (hence the cheese bit), and was57 when I first found this site.
mine is part nickname" bobber" . my first name Robert. and part badge # "620". I am an EMT by profession. hence Bobber620
My name is easy to figure out. I love the Powderkeg and its airtime. I think it is a wonderful coaster!
"Hey, that area is restricted!"........."You're too close to that nitro."
Well, you guys know the rest.
well, mine explains itself. I remember as a kid when we would go to SDC we would take that LONG trip from Branson out to SotH and SDC.
My nickname changed over the years from "Woody" (family historian) to "Tinman" (I have a tattoo of Denslow's original 1890's Tinman), and 620 has been my home address for more than 15 years!
My username is one that I use on another local website. It was originally created because I'm quite shy and I wanted to deter people from inviting me out to do too many things by causing them to think I would be a hinderance. I'm still very shy and self-conscious, but as I get older and all of my friends are busy with husbands and children (I'm still single, no children) I find that I don't get to do many things or go many places unless I go alone. And that sucks. I already have my season pass for SDC but I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to be comfortable going down there alone all day. Because I will want to go 10x more than my friends and family will be able to go. So now I don't really mean for the username to deter anyone.
But also, I am not a fast walker. Lol. :P
mine is from the first coaster i ever went on the Orient Express at worlds of fun KC

If you ever want some company to SDC, I'd go. I'm in Springfield, too, and from what you've described here, I think we'd get along quite good (that, and I see from your photo site that you're a Doctor Who fan... ROCK. ON.).
And I'm a pretty slow walker myself. :D

Heck yeah! And I love Torchwood too, but not as much as Dr. Who. You never know, I might have to force myself to take you up on your offer to go to SDC sometime.
Yeah, I love Torchwood, too; Children of Earth was.... WOW.
Well, I'm always eager to meet fellow SDC fans; I suffer from Social Anxiety Disorder, but the antidepressant I'm taking helps with SAD, too, so I've been trying to get myself to be more assertive and actually try to meet people and make friends. LOL
DalesDaMan3=Dales the Man... Its an Earnhardt thing!!! :)
Mine is very easy to understand, "Junior Dugan" was the role I played on park at Rube Dugan's Diving Bell. I worked on park from '78-'84, but didn't arrive at RDDB until late fall, '79. It just of easily could have been River Rat, for my time at Jim Owens' Float Trip, Wally Welch, for my time at the Welch's Vineyard Restaurant, Funnel Cake Guy, for time spent there, or some name connected to Grandfather's Mansion, the Treehouse, the Flooded Mine, the American Plunge, the Mill Restaurant, or the Mine Restaurant...Miner's Diner...Lumbercamp...Sorghum Shack...Berrys and Cream...back in the day, we worked where ever there was a need...where ever staffing was short. A name connected to my "citizenship" at SDC seemed most logical for me.
My real name is Ron and I am a pastor, but I decided to use the name "Pastor Don" because I was called up on stage to play the hero in the Frontier Follies show in 2004 and Choctaw Charlie (Shannon) said, "Give the gun Pastor Don", after I "shot out all the lights". He went on to comment: "You don't hear that too often!"
Most of my screen names on other websites are generic, and boring. For this forum I wanted something a little more creative, and something that captures a piece of true southern living.
So I chose Ozark Barbeque, or Ozark BBQ for short. Let's face it, there is nothing more enjoyable at Silver Dollar City than the Ozarks, funnel cakes, bluegrass, and barbeque! ;D
One of my earlier jobs at SDC in 78 and 79 was making funnel cakes. I'm with ya on that one! I could eat one now!!!
I have enjoyed reading your postings. Keep it up!
We decided on our username by some of the employees at the park always saying "Howdy", or, "How do Folks?" We say it all the time now no matter where we're at. ;D
I changed my user name from sonthew to haytater. hay = my name, hayley and tater = a nickname that evolved over time (hay --> hayder --> haterpotater --> just plain tater)
I noticed in another thread - You do realize, don't you, that with this change you have sacrificed all seniority. RIP sonthew (the name, not the person).
For my name, the last name is Brown and there were four of us with first names that started with M. (Kinda an unintentional Dugger thing going on). I underlined "four" because there might be five of us within 6 monthts.
Well,..."Tony" is short for Anthony, my actual real name. "From" is a preposition, and the second word in my three-word user name. "Tulsa" is the actual midwestern town I am from, and is the third word in my three word user name. I hope this clears up any controversy out there as to the deep meaning of my user name, and in case you can't tell, this is sarcasm. And I'm laying it on pretty thick. ::)
I am from Oklahoma = OKIE
Bluegrass = kind of music that I like best
I collect SDC trading pins = Pintrader
Mine is if "The Andy Griffith Show" crossed with the 1880's. Silver Dollar City has the feel of both.
My is very obvious I am a mother of twins that were born in 1998. Not very creative but very proud of them.
I also have twins (boy & girl) that were born in Nov. 2000!
Well as much as I like playing at SDC with all you folks. I also ride in the sanddunes in Waynoka Oklahoma. Have been doing that for over 30 years. But always torn on the weekend about which way to point the car.....SDC... or The Dunes....... the city..... the dunes???? Always hard to decide. I watch this cite religously but seldom sign in.
here it is.....the big reveal....*shouts, move that tram!* My name means that I miss the green trams......I know brilliant right!

I agree! Sure, the new ones are more fuel efficient, and modern, but nothing beats those old green workhorses. Take those white whippersnapper trams off the line, and let's get our green ancestors back! :D
Amen. I loved the smell of butane in the morning! It was the first thing I looked forward to when I got to the park. Literally cuz its the first thing you ride. lol. anyway. I miss the green trams.
I think SOTH still uses their green trams for tours. You can always get your fix there! (Plus, it's a great tour.)
Some of the trams from Shepherd of the Hills were used at Fantastic Caverns, too. It's America's only ride-through cave, ya know!
Going through and reading old threads tonight, and I found this one.
When I was a little boy, I use to call Silver Dollar City, "Dollar City." Don't know why, but I just did. The name stuck for many years, and to this day I still randomly call it that! :)
My dad use to sing a song in the car as we would drive up to Branson; it was one he made up on his own.
Goin' to Dollar City.........Dollar City here we come..........Gonna ride Thunderation..........and have a whole tun a fun!
lol, I know y'all cant hear the tune, but it is quite funny!
My son also calls it dollar city and has for the last 3 years. We have been takin him since he was 2 and the word silver was hard for him to pronounce so ergo "Dollar City" is used in my home also. He can say it now but alas it has stuck.
couple of funny stories. that's funny how there names get started.
I am from Missouri, and a girl (well, actually, on the downside of 40). I remember the time during the USA Pagent that Miss Missouri came out with overalls and bare feet. At the time I was appalled, but I've learned to embrace my country roots - hence the user name.
hillbillygirl! I never would have guessed your from missouri... ;)
Welcome to our party Hillbillygirl ;D
