Saw on the Hometown Radio website this week that the Plantation restaurant is going to be torn down and a CiCi's Pizza will be built in its place. Demolition is supposed to start in November and the pizza place is supposed to open in 2015.
Meh. Definitely a downgrade. The Plantation wasn't exactly stellar the last time I went there, but I'll take a down-home buffet over a pizza place whose major quality is being cheap.
Plus, it's another cookie cutter chain restaurant. Missed opportunity here to develop something unique in the heart of the Branson strip.

yup...
I can't tell you the last time I ate at the Plantation Restaurant..many many years, but a CiCi's??? Missed opportunity for sure! I hate that the building is being demolished too.
OH Good! another Buffet Pizza joint!! (enter sarcasm here) :-\
Yuck!
It will probably do well because it's a well-known chain and families will like it because of the price. However, I quit eating there years ago because I was getting sick within a couple hours every time we ate there. Most of them around here have closed, so I was surprised to see a new one was opening.
Would have preferred something else. Anything else
Worlds worst Pizza. Yuck 1 time was enough for me. Can Branson not get some non chain good eating establishments. It is the culinary Wal Mart of the world.
The Plantation back in the 80's was the best buffet in Branson. We need more hometown places.
When Cici's is good, it's good. We ate there in Florida, and it was really good. Back home, it's only so-so, even though it just opened. I don't think I could say it's the worst, though. It's certainly a better bargain than the way-overpriced Pizza Hut buffet, and there's more selection. Plus, I don't have to listen to the arcade or singing rats while I eat it.
There is an Italian restaurant coming to 76. It even promises to have a walk-through meatball on the sidewalk. This comes to you thanks to the giant chicken and its family of local Branson restaurants (also overpriced, by the way).
^It's probably not really overpriced, but it's more than I like to pay.
Giant Meatballs and that ugly Chicken. How far down are they going to let the strip go. How about some coherent urban plan. Was there not something in the works for that?
You just don't get it, Runner. You can actually walk right through the meatball!!! This is going to be big...like them big trees they got over to the Californie!
Well Im not fond of Cicis. However, it is not at all the worst. having all the kids that my wife babysits, we are always eating at Chuck E Cheese (for a bday party or something). Trust me, CiCis is way way better. However, I still dont much like CiCis.
The Plantation, well It certainly wasnt the very best by any stretch, but there 2 for steak offers was a decent deal, and didnt taste just too bad either (consider the price here). I will miss the Plantation for sure, and do wish they could have conjured up something better than CiCis

The family that owns the giant chicken and other local Branson restaurants is building the Italian restaurant and CiCi's. The family also owns the Plantation.
Families do not go to Chuck E Cheese for the quality. That much I can assure you.
Chuck E. Cheese's is, quite simply, a kiddie casino.
