I haven't posted anything here, because we keep waiting for good news or the healing to begin. But since 2 people today posted and was asking about her, I will try to bring you up to date.. Going to keep it pretty short and simple, (although her problem is not simple)
August 8, we went to shows and she was complaining about a side ache that she thought was from moving into the new apartment, the next day she called me and cancelled the rest of the weekend plans...felt sick and was tired.......
4 or 5 days later, we were talking to her and she said she was having problems seeing out of 1 of her eyes..
august 18th, her husband called me and told me she had lost complete vision in BOTH eyes!!
Went to eye doctor on or around august 20th, cat scan. Dr. said she had scar tisuue pressing against both optical nerves..
aug, 25th, went to a "specialist" he said NOT scar tissue, but in fact a virus...took blood samples.... at this point she is seeing light...BUT no objects and no side vision
aug 27.. Dr. said B12 defiency, so started shots today.... seeing more light, but still no objects, no perifial vision
9-1. we saw her and she went to a show with us, BUT it tuckered her out and she stayed home sunday.. looked very puny, no improvement on eyesight.
9-7, seeing some shapes out of right eye. have another Dr apt next week
Ran some tests and then scheduled another appointment next week
9-18, after cat scans and MRI, she has a consultation visit with surgeon,, they found a cyst on her liver, going to remove it and a couple of other "spots" in that area,,,
9-22, went to dr. today cyst is VERY LARGE. She is schedeled, for ANOTHER mri on tues. 30th, and then a biopsy later that week..maybe..surgury consult on oct. 6th. and surgury sched. for the 7th...................
AND still NO answer on why the eyesight situation!!!!
OK.. this is what our friend Paige has being going through the last 6-8 weeks......
I know there a lot more details, but this is a pretty accurate summation ..
Lots of prayers would be appreciated and well received.!!
I hadn't posted anything because, we kept hoping it would be cured and in the history books!!!!!!.
If you have any specific questions, post them, I will try to answer them.. we are talking to her or her sister every day or 2... :(
Nothing else to say.
Thanks for the update. We have been praying and have asked other to do so as well.
Thanks for the report Paige will definitely be in my prayers.
Prayers and best wishes for Paige.
Sanddune let Paige know I am pulling and praying for her.
Thanks for the update. Certainly hope her situation improves soon!
Tried to call Paige.....didn't get a call back.....will keep her in our prayers.
We will be praying for you Paige
lots of prayers for Paige here also. She will be on the prayer chain as soon as I can contact the Church.
I am so sorry to hear about what Paige has been going through. We will keep her in our prayers for sure.
Talked to Paige on the phone sat night, she didn't feel like coming over to our after hours gathering.... there were about 15-18 of us, we passed the phone around the circle until she talked to everyone!!. she was pretty winded by then, so we let her go back to bed.. no word yet on doctors visit today, will update when I hear something..
I've got my men's bible study group praying for you, Paige! Get well soon!
Had MRI Monday the 30th.... no results yet,,,,,,,
Talked to Piage for a while, she sounds great, in good mood, but very tired of delays.... waiting for results on MRI, and the consutation on Monday... hoping for surgery on Tuesday...
mon. Oct. 6th update on Paige.
Talked to Paige on the phone this morning. She goes in for her surgical consult this afternoon, hopefully all goes well and they can remove the cyst as planned tomorrow. Her voice sounded good and strong. She was a little nervous, very understandibly. Wished her well from all of us, told her to give the Dr.'s hell and keep her spunkiness going. She said she would have Deena update us later. We are hoping for a miracle and when she comes out of the surgury she can complain about the light shining in her eyes.
Love you Paige!!!!
mon. oct 6th. 2nd update on paige...
her surgery is scheduled for noon tomorrow, 7th. they will remove the pseudocyst and her gallbladder. they will also put in a temporary feeding tube to get her the nutrients she hasn't been getting for months. she will be in hosp. for 5-7 days. she will not be able to take calls obviously, so we will post updates as we receive them from Deena.
Thanks for all the updates, we'll be thinking of her tomorrow.
Sanddune....give Paige our best and tell her that she is in our prayers and love.
Will do Cheeseheads... She went in for surgery noon today...
have not heard anything yet....
expect to hear from her sister (Deena) sometime this evening.....
10-7, Surgery went well, they drained the cyst, removed Gall Bladder, put in a feeding tube. tube will be in for 8 weeks... she will be able to eat some regular food and use the tube if need be? (sounds odd, but that is what we was told).. Will be in hospital for 7 days, Going to have eye specialist come in while she is in hospital and try to figure that out... Obviously NO phone calls to her at this point..
10-8, Paiges sister posted this::::::
We finally were allowed to see Candice Paige Williams last night about 10 pm in ICU. She was in very high spirits & she actually had color and not pale. Her pupils were also at a normal size & no longer dilated. We are hoping that's a good sign & that she will get her eyesight back soon. She has a long road in recovery, but I, along with the rest of the family feel so much better & have high hopes for her. I'll update when I know more.
Our love and prayers to Paige for her complete recovery.
10-8......."""Candice Paige Williams is really doing well. She walked 600 ft today & just talks, talks, talks. LOL All her levels are good & her pain management is under control. She is still in ICU but in the more stable section. She will be moved to a regular room tomorrow & the ophthalmologist will be in to see her tomorrow for her eyesight. Have a good evening & I'll update more tomorrow if there are any changes.
Thanks for the updates Danddune.
10-9.... I received this today................
This is Lance, Paige wanted me to tell everyone she is at Cox in Springfield room 306 Candice Paige Williams. If you want to visit you can come any time except 5 am to 8 am and 5pm to 8pm. She is starting to see shapes and some colors. Eye doctor supposed to pay us a visit today.
Sanddune, thanks so much for the updates. I don't know Paige, but I certainly wish her the best. I know how highly regarded she is on this post.
I haven't been able to spend much time on the forum lately. So sad that Paige has gone through all of this. Glad to hear she's doing better. We'll continue to keep her in our prayers. "All things work to the good of those who love Him." She'll be stronger as a result of this.
Thanks for the updates Sanddune
Sanddune.....do you have an address for Paige....we would like to send her a card.
As a matter of fact I got that info today.... We are driving down tomorrow to see her., and then back home on sunday.....(1 last quick hit at the city before OTC,)......
Cox south medical center
3801 so National Ave
springfield Missouri, 65807
room 306
417-269-6000 phone number for hospital
She is doing well it sounds like, seeing light and shapes.. I obviously will update when I get back home..
Went down to see Paige yestarday and today......
She has lost a LOT of weight, very thin and looks pretty poorly.....
she sounds good!,
voice is much stronger than last week,
She was tied to 6 to 8 different "IV'S", pumping different chemical and vitamins into her.
Waiting to get her off the "eperderal" (spelling?) and get tube out of her nose, so they can do MRI on her head to see if they can find out what is wrong with her eyesight.... that should happen in the next 72 hours....
She is talking very positive, ready to get out of there, and get back to seeing shows and going out to the city, BUT it will be a little while before that happens..
With Gall Bladder removal, AND damage to the Panshreas (spell?) she will have an all new diet to contend with..
BUT she is happier now, stronger now, is seeing more colors, and seeing more shapes..... LONG way to go yet, but much better than this time last week!!!
I did give her everyones hellos, regards, and well wishes... She smiled and said thanks to every one..
I would expect her to be in the hospital until end of this week..
we will see, I will keep you all in touch....
10-13. removed Epidural (spell?), and removed tube from her nose.
started letting her drink Apple juice.. Up until now, has been food by tube, and ice chips.
started oral meds, she had some trouble adapting over today, but that should improve tomorrow.
hopeful MRI on the head the next day or so,
Sent Paige a card...hope she gets it while she is still in the hospital. Maybe we can get to see her at home when we visit in Nov.
I hope she gets it too......
I told her you guys said hi, and that we saw you at the motel..
Can you post her home address for when she gets out of the hospital?
Sanddunerider, out of privacy, you might want to respond to Cheesehead's comment in a private message.
Dollar, I would... BUT I don't know her new address yet......LOL...
Paige had a rough couple of the days the first part of this week... changed her meds and removed some IV's and so on..
she is still on feeding tube, BUT in good spirits, and sounds good from the reports I am getting.. We have not talk to her for 4 or 5 days, she is needing more rest and has lots of recuperating to go...
Word is will be in hospital until at least the end of this week (around the 24/25th). This date is on speculation only...
10-20. Paige is in private room now. #308, they ran MRI on her fri or sat evening, waiting on results. Feeding tube still in... Not much positive word coming our way right now..
Lots of prayers are needed...
Will update as I get info.....
10-21. there are lots of missing details here on Paige, But finally we are getting some good news...............:
"""Good news today folks, Paige has had the nose tube crimped since the morning and no throw up. She went for a walk or 2 and she said she could actually see the whole width of the hall way, no detail. So she's excited about that. She's doing much better today. They're still working on the pain management.
Also from her sister::
""She went for a walk or 2 and she said she could actually see the whole width of the hall way, no detail. So she's excited about that. She's doing much better today. They're still working on the pain management.."""
That's very good to hear. Keep posting, Sand.
Get well soon. Paige. We're all praying for you
Good news. Paige We are still praying for you.
10-29:
sorry for the delay in posts, we stopped to see paige on saturday 10/25. She was in very good spirits, still has about 6 tubes in her. including the feeding tube. She called us sunday night, and said that she had tried some broth that afternoon and so far so good. Hoping to try a few more liquids over the next couple of days, still not much improvement on the vision issue, but hoping that will improve with the rest of this process. Couldn't reach her last night, but will try again tonight and post some more details
Also got this message from her sister 5 minutes ago.::
They pulled the J-tube out today. She ate some baked potato soup today too. They are shooting for release on Friday with home care.
Continued prayers and best wishes to her and the family. :)
Our happy thoughts and prayers are with her .
Good News!::
just talked to paige, said she ate some chocolate ice cream today!
sounds like they are going to discharge her tomorrow. She will still have a feeding tube hooked up until she gets to where she can eat regularly and get all the nutrition her body needs without it. The nurse will come by and make sure she is all set up at home and then come by a couple times a week to check on things. a step in the right direction.
Also she is seeing some "blue" color... Still no diagnosis on eyesight problem Hoping that as she regains her strength and nutrients her eyesight will return....
What a hard time she has had. Keep on the sunnyside, gal!
Good news.....hope her vision comes back.....I know what limited vision can do to a persons mind. My eyesight has been getting worse and I am legally blind in my left eye and right one has retina damage. Thank God for computers that can magnify everything on the screen. Paige is a fighter and will come through all of what she has to face.
Paige is headed home today! YAY...
She has a Looong ways to go, but home is a good start.
I now have her home address, if anyone wants it. PM me.....
Well unfortunately Paige didn't make it 24 hours at home, got violently sick today and had to go to ER.. here is the latest report from sister:
Candice Paige Williams is going to be admitted back into the hospital. She'll have another private room. Her incision is infected and her blood tests show high counts in white blood cells & platelets. She was not ready to be released. Her feeding tube has been pulled out. We are waiting on xrays for that. So prayers warriors are being called once again!
Paige is back at Cox South, in springfield Missouri, has a private room.. room number 937.
They are pumping antibiotics to work against infections, and working on regulating pain medication....
Will continue to pray for Paige.
11-4...
Update from Paige's husband..
" Paige is doing much better today now is drinking some insure and holding it down. They figured and are treating her infections and have the feeding tube in place. She's having cravings for beef, good sign. She said to me today she's determined to get healthy and strong again. First I'm hearing of positive outlook from her. She should be able to come home soon, but still where she needs to be. Thanks for everyone's prayers. There is a light at the end of the tunnel."
Thanks Sanddune for Lance's update on Paige. She needs to be able to eat real food and get herself built up again. Sounds like it'll be happening soon. Good that she has her determination back.
Thanks for all of the forwarded updates. I sure have been keeping her in my prayers.
To all of you,
Your welcome!
She has a loooog hard road ahead of her.
I will keep you posted as I get info.!
11-4 - evening,
posted by sister:
""I've been hanging out with Candice Paige Williams tonight. She's doing pretty darn good. While I've been here she ate cottage cheese, string cheese, crackers all about an 1/8 of a tsp. LOL. Earlier today she had a few bites of a hamburger patty, a couple of fruit melons, a few bites of macaroni cheese (noodles not cooked all the way), chicken broth and a clear ensure. Soooo pretty good day!!!!! Her pain is starting to get under control and the infection is too. We'll see how she is in a few more days """"
Couple of more conversations with Paige... 1st one was with my wife, 2nd post is from the sister.. we talke to her last night, sister texted us today..... :D
11-5:
wed nov. 5th. called paige tonight, and we visited quite a while...she is still hooked up to the feeding tube, BUT, she IS beginning to eat a few things on her own. she had a small salad yesterday, a few potato chips, some pudding, and some pizza, although i think she picked off the pepperoni and left the crust LOL..small steps, but at least these are steps forward! hopefully when they send her home this next time all will be well. Infection seems to be better, they will do another culture maybe tomorrow. thats all for now folks.
11-6:
"""I just spoke with my sister Candice Paige Williams, she doing much better and sounds better then she has all week. She's having certain food cravings, which is good. Another CT scan was done today and the psuedocyst is completely dried up and gone. That tells me the antibiotics are working, yeah!! She still has several more days to take the antibiotics. They may or may not release her tmrw, because her hemoglobin count is up and down or basically all over the place. Other than that she feels pretty good! Once we concentrate on getting her better we'll look closer into her eyesight issue. She and I both have agreed it's best to just take care of one problem at a time and her nutritional health is very important at this time and stopping the infection 100%. Thanks for all the prayers and please continue. Now, carry on LOL """
All sounds good to me!!!! :) :)
Sounds like Paige is doing a lot better. We'll keep on praying for her complete recovery.
11-11. from sister tonight.:
""My sister Candice Paige Williams is home!!! She is in high spirits and has more energy then I've seen in many weeks & sitting on the couch. She wants to get back to normal. She's still very skinny and has talked about all kinds of foods she wants to eat. Her taste buds are improving as well. She still has a small j-tube attached and the feeding tube, but eating a little Chili right now. She still can't see, but we will be pursuing more on that soon. She will still have a home nurse who will come in and help out as well. Thanks for the all prayers.""
Awesome News :)
So Paige has been home about a week, seems to be doing well.
She went to a show with us last sat night, still looks puny, but in good spirits... went home after show, was tired. But ate some chips and had a pop while at the show.
One of our friends was there yesterday, got her out of the apt. walked some stairs and got her some fresh air.
Has eye dr. apt this week, they are going to x-ray behind the eyes to see if they can figure out that problem.
We will see her again next weekend, hoping to see more of a physical improvement, but we know she has a long road ahead of her.
But for sure looks/sounds better. And her spirits are good too..
I will update after I see her next week again...
We were in Branson for the past few days, and would have liked to had the chance to talk to Paige. Tell her that we continue to pray for her complete recovery.
11-22:
just spent about 40 min. on the phone with paige! good to hear her voice! she sounds good, says she is trying to eat a little more every day!, so she is only relying on the feeding tube at night. She went to the haygoods show thurs. night and had a great time. says her energy level is getting stronger. they are still running tests for her sight loss, said she could see the outline of catherines harp thurs. night., and a few flashes of light. just taking it one day at a time. we're just happy our friend is home, has a very positive attitude and gaining a little bit every day. told her we would be taking her to see the haygoods with us next sat. as time goes on, we'll do some more. she is anxious to join us at AFMM ( OMM) to see it WAS a wonderful life
12-2
saw paige sat. She joined us for 2 shows and supper... then after the shows joined us at the motel for a little gathering and snacks.. she is sounding very good, slowly gaining weight.. still uses feeding tube at night, but not daytime... eyes are seeing more light, and some side vision... a few shapes, but nothing clear yet.. still has to have help walking around,.... has a eye appointment again this week sometime..
So doing MUCh better,
Long ways to go still...
she spent about 10 hours with us sat and did not get "tired"..
And sunday she felt fine...
Did they ever determine what was up with her vision and why it just suddenly stopped working?
No, there have been no answers/diagnostics as to why it happened.\
Lots of speculation... very frustrating to all of us here... this started on august 8th, loss of eyesight started about the 15 of august... ..
I will post after we hear what eye doctor says this week..

You're doing a great job sharing information, Sand. Thank you for your effort!
Thanks Gilligan, we all love Paige.. I knew this was the best way to keep people aware of her progress..
More reports to come..
At around the same time Paige got sick, a friend of mine who is a youth pastor in Chouteau Oklahoma was paralyzed by the enterovirus that was so prevelent this past year. He has been on a ventilator since mid-August. I just pray that they both experience a full recovery ASAP.
12-10.
talked to Paige,,
sounds good on phone, happy and positive..
sight is improving ever so slightly,,
has gained 12-15 pounds of weight,,, which is about 4 pounds a week.... thats' good
been out to see a few shows..
we will see her this weekend... haven't seen her for 2 weeks now,, should be a nice improvement...
12-26
Paige has been to several shows with us, still has very limited eyesight...
Lance posted this today.
Her sight is improving, every day seems she sees something new, but really slowly. It will probably take months and she probably won't get it back 100%. I can say this, she is eating really good and healthy and We are climbing stairs for exercise and on a vitamin regimen. The eye doctor says it appears to be bad nutrition that caused it, so hopefully will reverse in time. We are having the feeding tubes removed on Monday as we are no longer using them. Thanks for your support.
Sounds like Paige is on the right track. Hope she can get more of her eyesight back.
Yes, Cheese.. it all osunds good. anxious to see her in a couple of days....
Keep going, girl. God bless!
Paige is doing much better. She went to several shows with us during NYE week..
After 2 shows and a meal she starting to get tired..
1 nights she stayed up unit 1 or so with us,
next night she went straight home after show.
she is much stronger.
finally got feeding tube removed last week, with good results.
Has gained 15-18 lbs so far, needs another 20 or so,,, but improving.
can see varied colors and shapes.. see movement on TV. lots better, BUT a long ways to go.... She will never be back to 100%.
Still praying for complete healing.
Paige and Lance are in Cabo on vacation. I saw the pictures. She looks really good. :)
Yes she does look good Okie! She needed that trip... get back tomorrow.. Anxious to see her this weekend...
Saw the pictures too....Paige looks so much better. What a great place to celebrate her Birthday..
This thread hasn't been updated in a while. How is Paige doing?
Parson, Paige is doing very well,
Back up to being completely healthy with the exception of her eyesight.. Never regained her vision.. can make put some shapes and color, But still "blind. She keeps talking like she will regain her sight, but I have my doubts.. it has been way too long since any improvement...BUT HEY!! She made it through the surgery and all is good.
Looks good, sounds good, we see her about every weekend we are down there... She is still going to shows with us, and still joining us at the bonfires when we have them.. Just needs a "taxi" ride everywhere.. Between us, and the group we hang with in Branson getting her a ride is never a problem.
