I have been reading these forums for the last year. I gotta say I knew there had to be people who love the city as much as I do :) I grew up going to silver dollar city every summer and now my wife and I take our three girls for a week every July. It is truly one of my favorite places on earth. :) we will be there in three and a half weeks YAY!!!!! I love so much about the park from fire in the hole to the smell of the city as you make it into the square and I was just wondering if anyone cared to comment on their favorite thing about SDC. Just to help my anticipation of our trip.
I enjoy the subtleties - the little details that are hidden in the City - from the silly "Don't look in this hole" and the "ghost" bridge to the historical references like "Phoebe Snapp" and "The Kinney Bridge".
Yeah it's so awesome seeing things that I remember being so excited about as a child, and as an adult being able to see my children light up when they see them.
I like the fact that there are trees just everywhere. But, to me, the cave is just amazing. :o
One of my favorites has always been that smell when you first arrive to the city when you vet off the tram. Has always meant good times await to me.
The train whistle and all the sounds of the engines - from the lathes to the furniture shop workroom
I don't know if they will tell you ahead of time who will be leading the cave tour. If they will tell you you want Tony. The cave tour won't be the same after going with him. Thunderation is a favorite of my family also I love the giant barn swing. Sometimes my favorite thing to do is to get a bbq sandwich from the rib house and watch the boats go by on the lost river.

Thanks sanddunerider. Yeah I love being there so much. I have so many great memories at SDC. And I will have to try and get tony for the cave tour. I've heard he is an awesome guide.
