Boy, This is a first isn't it. The Baldknobbers sharing their stage. You have to wonder if this is a move of necessity to increase revenues or just being the good neighbor.
That baldknobbers issue is scary to think about. Looks like I'll be booking tickets next trip.
Also, weren't the SONS of the Pioneers at SOTH? I hope they don't leave...
Yes they have left SOTH.
according to runner, sons will be at baldknobbers.
also the cats pajamas have left andy Williams and moved to Music city center
Jim Stafford's theatre will be open this year... BUT jim wont be there...!!..

Poor Jim...20 years in town, all lost in a d-i-v-o-r-c-e! Makes you wonder what happened between the two of them. They had a real nice log home on Taneycomo, wonder who got that pile of logs? I guess Jim will have to work out of rented theaters. Makes you wonder if he won't move on out of town and start over somewhere else...say somewhere around Dollywood.

I heard by eavesdropping that he was moving to Florida and semi-retiring, but I can't vouch for that AT ALL.
I haven't heard where he is headed, IF anywhere.... I will be back down there for valentines weekend... scheduled to see 3 shows, I will do some inquiring. ;D
Jim Stafford has been doing shows in Winter Haven FL since 2011.
http://www.ritzoncentral.com/stafford_release.html
Semi retire on half the savings? Good luck, Jim. :)
Interesting article on why the Baldknobbers are returning to the road this winter. Talks about the demographic changing and how they need to reintroduce Branson to a new generation of visitors.

I think the Baldknobbers have the right idea.
New at Dick Clarks.....
With the move to Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater made official last week, Up Close Concerts announced this week Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan, John Conlee and Ronnie McDowell, T.G. Sheppard and Johnny Rodriguez are all set to perform in October.
Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan, will return to Branson Oct. 8.
John Conlee and Ronnie McDowell will perform two weeks later on Oct. 22.
The final Wednesday in October will see T.G. Sheppard and Johnny Rodriguez take the stage.
A reuniting Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley are scheduled to perform Nov. 5.
Crystal Gayle will take the stage one week later on Nov. 12.
As always, all of the stars will be signing autographs after their concerts.
Tickets for these shows go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Was posted on the 1branson board today that comedian Jarret Dougherty has left Pierce Arrow.
yes that is correct.... he has left Pierc Arrow after many years there.... he is a funny funny man... This will put a kink in their show!!
I was told where he was moving to, and I forgot.!! ::)... will try to find out and post accordingly
"The Price is Right Live" will depart the Welk theater and call the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre home for a limited run this season. I guess that leaves the welk with no show this season?
Okla, I think your right about that....Unless they have some "special" events, it will be dark this year also...!!..
I know that is 3 new theatres this yyear that will sit empty.... Welk, RFD, Americana..... Not counting the ones still empty from previous years..
Wynonna Judd is set to perform Oct. 18 and Nov. 8 at the Oak Ridge Boys Theatre.
I was in Branson last Monday night and the Mansion theater was stripped of all advertisements for shows. Apparently that will be closed as well.
I sure hope SDC does well in 14. It seems the "Theatres on the strip" just may not fare as well. Of course we have been losing talent over the years.
Charley Pride
Mel Tillis
Ray Stevens
Roy Clark
Oak Ridge Boys (were they permanent back then or not? I dont know)
Bobby Vinton
Tony Orlando
Andy Williams (obviously for a different reason, but still lost talent)
Jim Stafford (does anyone know positively yet if he is leaving, or just moving theatres?)
Im sure there are others as well as local talent that I cant think of right now.
I was told Jim was gone!, I think I heard he went to florida... I didn't care for his show anyway, I am sure it was a quality show 10 - 15 years ago, but somethings needed updated, IMHO..
I sm pretty sure all the show that used to be there have moved to different venues., his website is still online, but not updated..
I think there is still plenty of talent left in town. with an increase in tourism last year, I expect another good year for the branson this year...
If the weather breaks early this year I expect the City to take off on a dead run this year.
I was on facebook the other day and it looks like Chisai Childs has some kind of office job with the Baldknobbers. Anyone know anything about this?
The show that was planned for the Stafford Theater is not going to happen so that theater may also be dark this year. I think the Mansion was dark for most of 2013. And looking ahead Daniel O'Donnell will not be in Branson in 2015; he will be taking a sabbatical as he puts it.
yep, very well could be dark. the website shows nothing for 14,.
I know the neil diamond artist relocated to theatre in old branson,
don't know where tony roi is going to show up, nothing on his website.
Tony Roi is set to be at legends
Okla.... Legends? you mean at dick clarks bandstand?..
I would be surprised at that move...
That's what is says on the trilakes news.
Tony Roi was at Legends for a short-term gig during the last week of February; that's what was said in Branson Tri-Lakes.
yes, they had a "elvis" marathon at legends... tony roi was there for that event....
guess we will have to watch and see for 14 info on him..... LOL...
another missing entertainer...............
After reading through all the post I think one thing is obvious. Whatever Branson entertainers are selling these days people are just not buying. There is really not a simple solution to the problem as most modern era entertainers probably do not want to set up shop in a permanent location. So, you are left with the has Beens or never wases. I would not be surprised to see a total revamp in the coming years for entertainment options if Branson wants to survive as a entertainment destination.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The sad reality is that the day will come when gambling will be the only thing that can save Branson. How far off is that? I'm not sure.
Also, more theatres run like the Oak Ridge Boys that sell weekend acts will become the norm.
Some of the things they are doing should help. The giant sports complex to replace the red roof. Hopefully 76 will get a makeover and lose all the junky looking places and abandoned parking lots. Making the place more pedestrian friendly and a good streetscape would help. If the entertainment would just improve to a more modern approach.

Kinda like the entertainment venues at casinos like Hard Rock Tulsa and Downstream?
Seen where the River Spirit will become Margaritaville themed casino:

I've said this before, an arena with about 7,000 seats that books all the traveling shows like Ringling, the Disney Shows like the new Avengers and the standards like Disney on Ice, Nick shows. and even Herschend's Globetrotters. There's enough out there to keep a steady booking along with a mix of other events like Cheer competition.
Back on topic,
talked to Paige today, and she verified that after tony roi does his short term appearences at the legends, He has no plans for 2014 yet.... now granted something could be released tomorrow.... but at this point, he is a no-show for this year..

I feel like this further proves that our discussion
was on topic. ;)
Folks most hurt, billboard owners.
What I do know so far, with Pierce Arrow Jarrod left to spend more time with his family (re-married last summer for those who do not know). He may still do an appearance here an there. Right now they are having guest comedians come in (Paul Harris has been one of them, sorry I do not remember names of others). This is short term. It has not been confirmed that Jarrod has committed to another venue at this time but something is in the works for sure. If I hear any other news or updates I will let you all know. Believe me, I'm hearing new things each day, doesn't mean it's true but definitely changes are going on! It's always exciting to find out each year what the shuffle brings, right? :D
This just in. Jimmy Osmond to take over running/booking at Andy Williams Theatre:

Hmm...not sure what I think about that. Personally, the shows listed for this year don't interest me all. But, I don't want that theatre to go dark, either.
According to 1branson, Mike Bliss has posted on his Facebook page that he is the new comedian at Pierce Arrow.
Good for him, he had been working on the Showboat...
must be going to juggle his schedule around...
Showboat has 1 more year before they change their shows...

There was a time when there wasn't much to do in the Branson area, other than shows, SDC, and fishing. The options for entertainment have exploded - water parks, mini golf, go-karts, golf, museums, shopping, zip lines, Duck rides, wineries, family inclusive resorts such as Big Cedar, etc. Even lake activities have increased. Rent a jet ski, ski boat, pontoon, canoe, parasail, or ride the Branson Belle and/or a catamaran. Personally, I haven't ever been interested in Branson shows, although I have gone to a few of them. By the time a family purchases a family pass or two for a show that lasts 2 1/2 hrs., they could spend a day on a rented boat. The problem with Branson shows is that vacation dollars are now spent on other forms of entertainment.
Personally, I come to Branson for the lake activities and SDC. I've never been interested in shows. I will spend my money on concerts at home, but I'm not interested in doing that as a vacation activity. If big name entertainment came to Branson on a rotating basis, I still wouldn't go.
Kirby, moves......Again!! ::)
http://bransontrilakesnews.com/news_free/article_8e93dd00-b9e8-11e3-ad10-001a4bcf887a.html
Kirby might thnk he's moving to the Icon but absolutely nothing about him was posted at the Icon on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Work was being done on the Waltzing Waters theater this week. Carolina Mills is closing this weekend. That building and the $1 Shop building across the street have been sold. Will be interesting to see what happens with those buildings.
Are they re opening waltzing waters this year. I had heard it sold but I had also heard or was to be torn down.
AND the Kirby saga continues....... this is better than Star Wars!!

As some of you may or may not have heard.. Jarrett Dougherty left Pierce Aroww this spring after being there for years,,,,,
Looks like he has decide to help out the starlite theatre...
