Russell Johnson, who played "The Professor" on Gilligan's Island, passed away of natural causes at his home in Washington state. I have his autobiography on the TV show and life, and it is an easy, fun, read. Hope you can pick up a copy. Dawn Wells and Tina Louise are the only cast members from the old TV show that are left. Hmmmmmm...Ginger or Mary Ann?
I always respected Professor Roy Hinkley. How he kept that radio working all those years remains a mystery.
Syndicated Gilligan's Island was always the joy of every morning for me before school as a child. I loved the show, and never once got tired of the show and the antics. The Professor definitely was a great guy!
I always liked that whole show and cast. As a kid I thought the Proffesser was the smartest guy on the planet.
--Of course now Im not a kid, and I have wondered how that man could fix "everything" with a coconut, fig leaf, and a piece of hand cut twine. Even build a shack from the same stuff, but could never patch a medium size whole in a boat.
;D ;D ;D
But what a show for real! They will never make another show like that anymore. RIP Proffesser ..
Also lost 2 other actors yestarday.....
Dave Madden, & Ruth Duccini.
Ruth- was the last remaing "munchkin" for wizard of oz...
Dave did several different shows/movies
Dave Madden was Reuben Kincaid on the Partridge family. I heard of his death while I was listening to the radio this morning. Kinda of sad to watch the last few remaining bits of my childhood dying off.
Really sad to see Dave Madden go, too. He was funny on Laugh In. Funny on Partridge Family, Funny on Alice.

Does anyone know what he did after Gilligan's Island stopped filming?

"DIE" ;D ;D ;D ;D
Sorry, I couldnt resist. Honostly, I dont, and never have watched a lot of TV. I really dont keep up with "who does what"
The good ole professor was somewhat disappointed he was typecast from playing the role. Jobs were hard to find. He wrote an autobiography that concentrated on the show period called "Here on Gilligan's Isle" which I had and it was good, he used a sense of humor. Later, he appeared at fan conventions for picture signings and to meet with fans, Bob Denver and Dawn Wells did that circuit, too. He had a son who was prominent in the gay community who lobbied for gay rights and later died of AIDS. He lived a long life, worked in showbiz, and died in his home surrounded by family, can't get much better than that.
I remember him from a few twigs light zones ( or maybe the outer limits) but those would have been at the same time as Gilligan's Island

Yep, that sounds like a pretty good life away from the problems of Hollywood.

Ruth was the last original 'female' munchkin. Jerry Maren, part of the lollipop guild, is still alive at 93. That makes him the lone surviving munchkin now.
Awwwh, little piece of my childhood! Rest in peace!
