THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!!!
I dont care who the AL sends. The Cards have played each team 3 times in the World Series. We have lost to each team once, and won against each team twice in the World Series.
I really didnt expect a blowout closer 9-0. Really dont care much for blowout games either, but they are better when your team is the winner.
GO CARDINALS
I apologize for having to live in the past but the Kansas City Royals haven't been any good for years and that's my team. The Royals had their best season since 1989 this year.
Wacha! Wacha! Wacha!
Royals are my team too Okie. I was an exciting year for a change. Going to have to root for the Tigers now since I work with the mom of one of their players (Dirks)
Tigers are in the same division as KC. St Louis is in the same state. I ain't got a dog in this hunt. I don't see that it's good for the Royals either way
All my friends back home can't stop mentioning that so many of the Cardinals are homegrown talent and spent time in Memphis in AAA. Memphis has a top 5 and some say best AAA park in America

Last night I sat at a lady's house I go to church with and watched the entire game with the preacher lol
SDC-Dave, I certainly understand your take. I would do the same in the same situation.
I actually know 2 people that work for the Stadium (Busch). So (besides living near STL) I am a huge Cards fan and thats one reason why.
Okie- I understand your fondness of the Royals, however I fail to understand what the Royals have to do with this post, and why you feel the need to constantly bring them up. I would certainly cheer on the Royals if they were in and the Cards was not. Then again it would still be a home "state" team for me. I get it that you dont live in Mo. So I get that the Cards may not mean didly to you. But why bring in a team that isnt involved while trying hard to delibrately NOT mention either team that is involved.
Just sayin brother. We all have the right to speak as we please, I accept your right, and Im not complaining. I just dont quite understand thats all.
I am a St. Louis County native. (Hazelwood) GO CARDS! ;D
there was more to that post but by the time I abridged it didn't make any sense, and I've slept since then so now I can't remember where I was trying to go with it. knowing me it had something to do with the 1985 World Series.
Well KC kicked our Butt in the 85 series.
I guess that why Im not understanding why the KC peeps just despise us. (Okie-I know you dont live in Mo. I completely understand your viewpoint). But Im hearing the same responses from 3 other forums (primarily Mo based forums).
Everyone has said they hate STL because of 85. I mean KC did great in game 7 in 85. STL is the team that basically made a complete "donkey" out of themselves. I just cant see hating a certain team because you WON against them last time.
Kinda like saying you will "never-ever" visit SDC again, because every visit so far has been "ABSOLUTELY" completely perfect in every way. (HUH? WHAT?) Makes no sense right?
Mo has a "home" team for everyone. An AL team based in KC called the Royals. And an NL team based in STL called the Cardinals. Come on Mo residents, these are OUR home teams. I think we SHOULD cheer for either and BOTH.
To those of you SDC fans that do "not" live in Mo. I understand where you may not like or cheer either team. Makes sense, I have no problem with that.
JUNIOR----ever get in to the St Charles area? Hows about a PM if you are planning a trip to Mid Rivers, The Mills, ETC. We can maybe plan a trip to visit our Son, and meet up with ya.
Sounds like fun! However, I seldom travel through the area. Only one aunt and two cousins left in the area, and I probably have not seen them since I was in my early teens. Our family is spread out over parts of three states, and we don't often have a chance to get together. Last time I passed through north SL County was probably about 1990, and I could not believe how much it had changed since I'd lived there in 1972!
My parents are from the KC area, so they will always be Royals fans at heart, and they passed a bit of that on to me. (And I'm too young to care about '85.) But I have to admit that everywhere I've lived in MO people have primarily been Cardinals fans. Hub's family are big Cardinals fans, so I've become one too. It helps that being in Springfield we get to see the future stars of the "big Cardinals". chittlins, we made a trip to Memphis this summer and really enjoyed your ballpark. It shows its age a bit when compared to Hammons Field here, but still a very nice facility. Being a Cards fan doesn't stop me from wanting the Royals to do their best, and we still cheer for them. Was proud of the season they just finished.
Funny qwed94 I grew up not 5 min from mid rivers and work off mid rivers mall drive now! Go cards!
As most of the folks on here know, my folks met in SE Kansas near the Missouri border. In fact my mother was born in Webb City, MO. I grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma. We got Royals games on TV. Not cardinals games. And the Royals were a perennial contender back then. Royals fans have to bring up the 85 series for 2 reasons. 1. We haven't been relevant since and 2. We don't like being the red headed stepchild when it comes to pro baseball in the state of Missouri . I'm also an Oklahoma state fan. The cowboys have similar issues with OU.
GO CARDS! ;D
7:07 CT. Cardinal Nation! Let's Go!
Terrible night for the Cardinals.
Round one was not so kind the Cardinals. It will be interesting if they can change directions next go around.
Game One: Boston
Game Two: Cardinals
--
See ya'll in Busch Stadium! GOOOOOOOOOOO CARDS! ;D
OKIE- good points. Never thought about it that way. Thank You for the insight.
On another note. Of course I want the birds to win. However. This is a young team.
We have a 2nd year Coach. and a team with 10 1st year rookies. (BTW) did you notice that "every" out in game 2 (made by the birds) was made by a 1st year rookie. Im not positive about that, but the radio guy did say that. I thought Freeze made an out though, but maybe not.
Anyway, IF we lose to the Sox. It is certainly no embaraasement. They are (and basically) always have been a class act. Not to mention they broke all major league records in home runs this year. As well as most stolen bases (I think). I believe the radio guy said in hits also. The Sox are the best team in MLB this year.
Now then, IF we win, it just might be an embaraasement for the Sox.
WOW! What a crazy ending to Game 3!
The video is currently "not yet available", but it should be up soon.

The ending was beyond CRAZY!! Let's do it again tonight!
Take it any way you can get it! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO CARDS!
So you guys are saying you are Boston fans right? ;) Just teasing! Hold the tomatoes! :o ;D
Cardinals have the upper hand if they can just keep it going.
It ain't over til it's over!
These bearded dudes are getting on my nerves. We need those good ole Cardinals to stop jacking around with them, and get her over with! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CARDS! ;D I wanna be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!
Haha, I am glad I am not the only one noticing those beards! It's turning into Baseball Dynasty out there!
Boo Hoo! A Day of mourning in my house! Those bearded wonders got the trophy. Best luck next year, Cardinals! :'(
Well you know what. I like the Cards, and Im still happy for them. Not at all ashamed, they did a great job.
On the same note though. They made an ass out of themselves during the whole series. You absolutely can NOT win baseball games by walking the apponents to base and leaving your own men stranded on base. I have never seen a team leave so many stranded as I did this series. You cant say it was wonderful Boston pitching. (Not saying they was bad by any means), but our pitching was better. Its all OK though. Its just a game, its not like a "surgery gone bad"
I guess the only thing that really dissappoints me is the fact that Boston did cheat on game 1. (Lester was using that pine tar on the ball). He was caught, but no repremandments. "If you is gonna cheat-you has no bidness winnin the game"
Other than that, Boston played one heck of a series. They out classed us by leaps and bounds, and they deserve the title.
Tell me more about this pine tar. I haven't heard anything about it.
Gilligan, you are not the first to comment that. I guess the TV reporting did not mention it at all. The radio guy sure did. He said that pine tar was found in Lesters glove. I didnt see that on the local news, in the newspaper, or in any other form of media, other than the ONE mention from the guy on the radio. (I was at work, so the only way I could get the game was on a local radio station-and a weak AM station at that).
It is possible that Lester did not have anything in his glove and just local talent making a comment to justify his attitude. It is also possible that Lester DID have the stuff, and media was warned by MLB to NOT announce it, and this local talent shouted out prematurely.
All I know for sure is, even in some local publications, the word was. "Wouldnt it be nice to see Boston win - to make up for the horrible "bombing" during the Boston Marathon earlier in the year. That was a comment I heard at least 50 times a day by media. Especially national media. Almost to the point that it sounded like a "set-up"
WOW! I hope that's not true on both accounts! I did think the announcers were a little biased in favor of the Red Sox, and I've heard several others comment on it also.
well all national news corporations are based in New York. Up in the New England states, the American League is the rule. The AL teams up there earn the most, and pay the most, so it goes without saying that they receive the most advertising.
Every single World Series (regardless of who is playing) the media always roots on the AL team. That stuff doesnt really bother me much.
As far as being "set-up". Well everyone wants to believe that all proffesional sports is always straight up. If you ever watch the WWE (Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown). With the new boss "HHH" he makes is blateny clear that the matches are rigged. Not every match, but some are and he is the one who rigs them. To the point he ordered "Big Show" to deliver a knock out punch to a fellow competitor "Daniel Bryan" right in front of the camera.
That is one reason I dont get too involved or too excited about sports.
In my heart the words "pine tar" will always be synonymous with George Brett, but pitchers have been doing stuff like that since the invention of the game. Doesn't make it right, but it's always been there.
You can't apply any foreign substance to the ball. But you can have it on your own fingers, to improve grip. If some is incidentally transferred to the ball, it's not a violation.
