Well? we have been hitting this on another thread, so I thought I would start this one up.
What do you think is the best value for food in SDC... whether it be a meal, sandwhich, turkey legs, skillets, buffet, snacks, Whatever..
What do you think?
The best deal at SDC is the season pass discounts and refillable mugs.
I think the best food deal is the Apple Turnover with Cinnamon Ice cream. its a great deal for 4.99.
I also think the .50 baked goods in the old mill are a nice touch as well.
The bbq sandwich at the rib house. Every time I eat that for lunch I'm not hungry the rest of the day!
Mollie's Breakfast. All you can eat of good, honest food, with a great selection and friendly service.
Hot wassail in your refillable mug while watching the Christmas parade with your young daughters is priceless!
oh man, here it is almost the 4th of July, but that Wassail sure does sound good! :D
I don't know about best cause there are so many good ones. I had tater soup in a bread cowl at Christmas and it was awesome.
Let me try this, as we know there is no "1" great deal....
As super said the SP discounts and mugs are great.....
But..Here is my all day list- (exceptions would be for festival specialties)
Mollies breakfast----
Lunch- rib sanich @ rib house OR the Philly Sanich ( Love Both of 'em)
Supper?- See lunch ;D
Dessert or snack anytime-- Apple dumpling.!!
Really like the Funnel Cakes (but they are getting pricey!) I haven't had since 2011
The mill or the mine because they are buffets and there's no excuse to leave hungry. I would be willing to pay more for the buffet if they would put some of the other food items from the park on it. Maybe some skillet dishes or some ribs from the rib shack. What would you say to a $30 all you could eat in the park that day pass? I'd get it every time.

This. 9.29 i believe is the price. It's all you can eat. Nice place. Great food. I also will chime in that the mine restaurant is good. Again, all you can eat and a cool place to go on a hot day.
Since I cannot stand a buffet of any shape, type , or form I think the rib house serves up the best quality for the price on site. I would have used to said the skillets, but smaller portions and higher prices have kept me from purchasing them my last few trips.

I agree to a plan like this. If you could get a tasters pass for $30. Meaning you would receive smaller portions with your pass but be able to try whatever you would like. Like a " Taste of Silver Dollar City" pass
If they really gave you a taste of everything I would probably go $40 on it. I would say you would have to buy the pass with your ticket and everyone in your party would need to do it or none could. This is a Disney tactic. Let me try any item that is not like a sandwich. Possibly 1 thing from each restaurant with the acception of the buffets. ( maybe allow 1 buffet like breakfast one so you fill up and go light the rest of the day.) They could cut the potato twists into 3rds but only allow 1 or 2 desserts per person, kind of a punch card idea. The plan would include a drink cup that you could refill with everything but the slushes. Does this sound like something that would be possible?
The best food deal in SDC is the sandwiches you make at the motel and bring with you. ;)
KB that's cheating. I will go with what my mom used to do. A jar of apple butter and a loaf of bread from the Mill will feed the whole family
KB, we do that a few times a year, but take cooler, cold meat and cheese and mayo, fresh bread, chips, drinks... then make fresh snadwhiches and picnic 2 the back of the ole suburban!. :D

It may or may not be the best deal....but it is definitely the tastiest! ;D

When you add in the season pass discount (20%?), it's hard to beat Mollie's for breakfast....although BillyGail's (on 265 at the north end of the Wilderness) gives them a real good run for the money! (I know it's off-site, but 2 biscuits, 2 sausage patties, gravy, a pot of tea, excellent service and a generous tip for $10 is real hard to beat!)
My favorite deal is the make-your-own coke or root-beer float for $2.50 in my refillable mug. Fill it 1/4 full of soda and then pack the rest full of soft serve ice cream. What a tasty treat on a hot summer day at SDC!
Stephen, that does sound good, where do they do that at?....thanks
Across from Crossroads Pizza (on the way to/from Outlaw Run).
20% breakfast at the Mill is probably my favorite deal in the park. I can eat enough to not need food again until afternoon. Although, the loaf of bread and a jar of apple butter is pretty inspired (and yummy sounding). My dad's favorite deal in the park is a root beer float from the Saloon in his giant glass mug for $1.50. I'm pretty sure they lose money on that deal.
Oh really? that new concession area? I will have to check that out!..
The thing to remember about SDC food is that it will always cost more the next year. By that standard, don't hesitate to buy a refillable mug. I still have mine from 1997/98, and SDC food vendors still honor the $1 refill cost. (I thought I was a big spender at the time, buying it for $6!)
I also use the Mine or Mill restaurants near the front because of the buffet (which includes dessert). It's pricier than a single sandwich or hot dog, but if you plan accordingly, you can eat midday and not be too hungry by the time you get home.
jenjen, welcome, keep in mind the mugs purchased last year AND I believe this year are/were only good for the current year..
The PTB are wanting u to buy new mugs every year.... (we all agree on this right?) LOL

Those places are extremely pricy, but I agree that they keep you full for the rest of the day. Perhaps, it is a backwards way of saving money since you won't be as tempted to snack around at all of the concession stands. :)
Due to several abdominal surgeries my stomach is so small that I cannot eat an entire adult meal, so I get a kids meal. Talk about a value. Now I have a SDC mug and put the kids drink inside of my mug. NO I do not fill the mug. I fill the small cup and pour it over the ice in my mug. Also, any of the skillet meals are a great value if there are 2-3 of us eating on it. Although I have not had it YET I did check the pricing on the wood fire pizza and felt the prices were really quite reasonable for a theme park. Hoping to make it there on our next visit.
Snack best value is the cinnamon bread at the mill. It is something I do not have the patience to make at home. It has plenty of "yummy" factor which means they do not hold back on the ingredients.
As for a beverage I find the fresh squeezed lemonade is a great buy during the hot months and the wassail in the cold months. Both are unusual and yummy - that is what helps make them a bargain in my eyes.

The price on the 8in is ridiculous for what it is, not much bigger than a personal pan pizza from your grocer's frozen section, the 14' is all right when you consider theme park pricing and your SP discount. The issue that we had was they would not do a half cheese and half pepperoni on he 14', Go figure.
what I found out about the pizza, is the small pizza is 7.99? don't remember, but the large pizza is 17.99..... point being you can buy 2 small doe the same as 1 large and get about 1/3 more pizza... so need half and half... but 2 smalls for same money!

You must have bought a loaded one, cheese and pepperoni was cheaper than 17.99.
you get what amounts to a Tony's pizza when you buy a small. You'll get more toppings and such on a larger pie. Had no complaint with the taste or quality considering where it's at, now if it was a free standing place, that's a no go. Guess having my girl and the owner's of Tim's Pizza here in Fayetteville in the same class has spoiled us. ;)
