Ok, not really. But I couldn't help but think of that line from Kindergarten Cop when I decided to post this thread.
Curious where everyone is from and what line of work they are in. We all have this wonderful common interest, but it is always neat to see what people do for a living (something tells me that there are a lot of teachers on this board)
I'll start.

I teach English, drama, and speech at Diamond High School, but I live in Joplin. I'm the speech and debate coach, and I direct the school play. During the summer, I'm a stay-at-home mom. :) I do my best thinking in the summer, though, so I plan for the next school year. I'm teaching a new class next year, so I'm trying to figure out how that will go.
Day job is lab tech. I also square dance and contra dance. I am a square dance and contra caller, and I also teach square dance and contra at Northern Oklahoma College.
I stay home with our 3 children. In august I will begin subbing in the Carthage, mo school district. Perhaps after that, I will get a full time teaching job that will allow me to use all of that education. Lol!
Graduated with marketing degree from the You of A, hated it and now a cnc programmer/operator. There's a good chance that if you drive a Ford or Chevy, we made the prototype of the wheels on it.
I've only had one full time job... Been with HFE for 10 years now. I played Ollie in the SOTH play for 2 years, and was a street performer at the landing for a while.
Hollywood, we'd love to have you tell us more about what it is you do for the company you work for. Also, many of us are Shepherd of the Hills fans, too. I am or was friends of many people who worked there over the years. So please give us details and post as much as you can. We'd love to see photos, too. :)
I own/operate a small excavation company. I have a couple of loaders and 4 dump trucks.
We work locally, usually within 35 - 40 miles of home base.
we are home every night. Myself and my employees all either have known each other from 10 years to going to school together 35 years ago. Just a little home town group of men trying to make a living ;)
Worked for a large corporation for 34 years as a factory technician. Now I am retired because of a blood cancer I am still fighting. I do not really want to be disabled but you live with the cards you are dealt. Cape Girardeau Missouri area.
Well, Runner, hope you get better real soon. We'll be praying for ya.
Second grade teacher for 22 yrs., but currently on temporary disability since I was injured at work last year.
Well, Runner, hope you get better real soon. We'll be praying for ya.
Thank you
I am the 911 Communications Supervisor at my local Police Department. Previously, I have worked as a Police Officer, Detention Deputy, and for State Emergency Management. Not too bad for someone who attended college for an AVIATION DEGREE. :D
I went to colleage for a Management of Information systems degree, and now I despise computers.... Having to learn everything all over again every few years... I'm kinda sick of it
I have worked in the trucking industry for the past 20 years. We live in Batesville, Arkansas.. home of Mark Martin.
I'm a computer programmer/database administrator with a number of hobbies including photography, stained glass, wood working, playing guitar, line dancing and volunteering.

;D
Silver Dollar City's new slogan: The Place for Techies to Unplug! ;D
I'm thinking that is quite appropriate.
My pastor called me a computer geek in church the other day so I think I need to get away a little more often...
I'll throw my hat into the computer techie group as well. I've been doing computer programming/consulting since 1991. I actually went to school to be a CPA. Passed all of the tests and everything but just found computer work to be more exciting.

That's pretty much the entire fan base of the Steampunk movement.

Okiebluegrass, you being into computers and being a bluegrass musician reminds me of the joke: How many bluegrass musicians does it take to change a light bulb? 4 - one to change the bulb and 3 to complain that it's electric! ;D
Haha Duelist, you're not right! Love it! :D
Dang new fangled Microphones... ???
But seriously, one thing I like about playing music is that it's the same as it was 100 years ago. I can watch Hee Haw reruns on TV and tell you what chord Buck Owens is playing even though he's been dead for years.
If guitars were like computers, I'd have to learn how to play again every time I got a new one.
^Which is why my beginning guitar methods class that I teach isn't overly complicated.
