Lost 2 people today/yestarday,,,,, Both in their own rights were great ladies..
RIP:
Margaret Thacher
Annette Funicello
RIP Annette. She was an integral part of my childhood. She will be missed.
Annette was active doing this and that until a disease...I think MS...knocked her down. She was classy and had a good sense of humor. Thatcher was "the Iron Lady" and was good buddies with Reagan during that era...an important friend for the USA then.

Roger Ebert last week, so that's 3.
Upon hearing about Annette, I went and watched Bikini Beach 3 times in a row.
She was one of my favorites.
Ugh. Thatcher. Don't get me started on her. Not happy she's dead, 'cause I'd never wish death on anyone, but I'm not mourning her like I am Ebert and Annette.
Announced today..
Johnathon Winters...age 87.....
Awwww... man, we are losing so many wonderful people this week!
Sorry to hear about Winters...my old boss from Hee Haw Theater, Tom Lutz, wrote comedy for Winters prior to doing writing for Hee Haw (TV Show.) Winters was a talented genius. Get a DVD of some of his work, or a CD, you'll love it. Side splitting comedy! RIP Mr. Winters! By the way, I believe he played Branson a few times. Anyone remember that?
Junior!!! you should be able to make a living just writing about all your ozark/missouri expierences.... ;D
Yea. I wish ol Randy had time to be active here. Being here since early 1970. I have heard Branson stories from him, that couldnt even fit in this forum. Our bandwidth here is not big enough.
Yes Junior, please keep telling your stories. There was a many many years that I couldnt make it to Branson Basically the early to mid 80s I was real busy with my race cars. I really perk up when I read something here that happened in that time frame (that I missed) :'(
Jonathan Winters was a genius. Just watch some of the original Dean Martin comedy roasts from that era -- they were so good, they could get away without saying a single dirty word, yet at the same time make hilarious and absolutely filthy references on prime-time network TV. Brilliant comedy!
All those appearing were the biggest stars of the day, and they all had at least some personal connection to the person being roasted. Compare that to today's Comedy Central roasts, where "comics" no one has ever heard of, "roast" people they've never met, mostly by telling the same old disgusting insider jokes about their fellow panelists.
I love a good dirty joke, but you don't have to be foul to be funny. The very best "good clean dirty jokes" can be told in polite company. ;D
Every now and then you will see I have posted a semi racy comment about the old days. Keep in mind, they were the old days. Alot of things have changed since then, and although I have no doubt there are still things that go on that should not they do. We Juniors were a racy lot, when it came to picking up girls and going out after work. Sometimes while still at work. Can't tell those stories. Most folks here would not want to hear 'em, and I don't blame them. Besides, some of the folks involved in that stuff from the old days still work in the Branson area, and in high profile areas. So it would do them no good...even changing names to protect the guilty would not be good enough. But like any older feller looking back on his youth, they seemed like fun times back then, but "political correctness" was a term not used then, we didn't...like most young people...give much thought to what we were doing, as we were young, it was summer, we had cash in our pockets from working, and no responsibility with time on our hands. That is the formula for a young guy to go in directions he probably should not venture. With all that said, just about everybody survived those times, we all finished up with school, went into careers, started families, have kids and grandkids now...and look back on our lives and say, "by gum, I made it!" There is still life to live, and although the old days seemed like endless summers of fun, time now to sip some iced tea on the porch with the wife while a cool breeze passes through, and watch the grandkids play in the yard with their toys! Ah, ain't life sweet! Thanks God! ;D

A Great Razorback.
Don't you know he and Paul Eells are swapping some tales?
Got to meet Paul a few years back at a radio broadcasters gathering, Associated Press, it was. Paul was there to collect an award for his lifetime as a sports reporter and "voice" of the Razorbacks. He was a class act, humble, and grateful for the award. Nice guy, glad I had a chance to meet him. Some great story swappin' indeed!
My 36 y/o sister-in-law, Harmony Foster, passed away on the same day as Thatcher and Funicello. She was another strong woman, having beaten back cancer for ten years before finally losing the battle. She left behind a husband and five kids. She'll be missed.
Zephon, sorry about your loss... So young!!!!!
Alan Arbus, AKA dr. Sydney Freedman from MASH!!! Loved that show, still laugh @ the reruns.
Arbus, such a talent. Ever see the good job he did in some of those Law and Order shows?
WOW!! lost another icon... George Jones.....??
Yes George Jones. And what is sad is----Wife had the (local) news on TV (I understand local). And nary a word was uttered. (Now remind you when Jackson or Houston died, even Andy Griffith died, thats all they could talk about. Even when Andy Williams died they made a huge report of it). Now with Jones---NOTHING. I happened to be online and read it deep in my homepages (like 2 or 3 pages in to the news). Now when the World News came on, they gave him about 3 minutes. Please forgive me for venting here. I understand we all are entitled to our own opinion, and if yours differs from mine. Thats OK!!
I think it is a criminal shame when a LEGEND and ICON passes on and media just lets it slide with a mere mention between basic knowledge stuff. --- Yet a wild, child, whacked out, used to be.!! AND a one hit wonder that wasnt even her song from the beginning - DIES, the media just eats it up. They talk for months about both of them.
What is going on in this World today?
OK I APOLIGIZE FOR HAVING EMOTION. IM SORRY TO THOSE I HAVE JUST OFFENDED.
Qwed,, that is called using the "soapbox"... And yes it is fine to use it whenever you fell necessary.. I am sure on this topic many of us agree with you!!! ..
" "Welcome to the SDCFans rant & rave Forums""...................... lol.......
Gonna miss the ole Possum! RIP George.
Just read, Jean Stapleton passed away.. :(
ARCHIEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o
Jean Stapleton, a very talented lady. Ever see her in "You've got Mail?" I saw an interview with Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers talking about the All in the Family days. They said they all blew their lines from time to time, but don't ever recall Jean doing so. She came in prepared, and played the dumb wife of Archie well. STIFLE, Edith!
