Is NOT made for bigger people! I wear a 20/22 in womens clothing. Heres my problem. The lap bar was secure. I was able to ride Outlaw Run, but I did NOT feel safe! I love roller coasters but it will be a very long time before I ride Outlaw Run again, and I am a true rollar coaster enthusiast. . I truly feel that there should have been some kind of shoulder restraint. Had I had a shoulder restraint, it would have been fine. The issue I have is that, as a bigger girl, when you use just a lap bar and you have the barrel rolls and corkscrews, your belly can actually shift over the lap bar and I, along with my best friend and roommate, felt like we were going to fall out and face our Maker that day. I DO NOT recommend it for larger people. My husband had the same problem. We all range in size from 230-280 lbs.
I also didnt like the fact that you had to pay for lockers because there werent any cubby's. Then, not only did you have to buy locker space, you had to use a dollar coin from an employee who stood near the entrance to Outlaw Run. To me, that wasnt a very well thought out plan.
To summarize, yes Outlaw Run is an engineering masterpiece. It's a thrill ride, and an adrenaline rush. To me, however, it was only an adrenaline rush because I felt like my family was going to be picking out my casket later in the week.
I love the coasters but I did not feel safe i am a little bigger so I felt insecure when we were going on the corkscrews where as my friend that is smaller than me felt secure i don't really think it was designed for bigger people I personally feel that if bigger people are going to feel comfortable riding this ride then there should be some sort of shoulder restraints so they don't feel like they are going to slip out of the lap bar other than that problem i loved it
I found the bar that crosses at the shins to be a bit uncomfortable and I'm only 6' tall. I can't imagine someone who is 6'4" or better, those with a longer femur in their upper legs, being able to fit at all. But I didn't feel unsafe. I know that the lap restraint system was tested at the RMC home site, with 300lb+ people hanging upside down and found to be quite adequate. I believe the reasoning in using the lap restraint system rather than a shoulder restraint was to enhance the feeling of freedom and of "danger." It would seem that that was accomplished in your cases.
Outlaw Run is perfectly safe for any size of rider who the operators allow onto the ride. You may have FELT like you were going to fall out at one point, but this is on purpose all part of the free and open design of the ride carriage. I can assure you that RMC and SDC have done extensive testing and have ludicrously strict safety standards. Shoulder harnesses in this case would be nothing more than safety theatre and in some cases can actually end up being even less safe. A number of people have fallen out of rides with shoulder restraints - they are certainly not a solution in the way that the general public thinks they are.
Y'all sure aren't going to like the new generation Eurofighter cars if that's what is in SDC's 2015 future cause they are now sans lap restraints.

Vekoma is going lap restraints as well, not that SDC has any Vekoma stuff, some of the other big manufacturers are using a bar that comes down from above but they are not over the shoulder restraints. The complaints parks get with OTSRs are the headbanging issues.
I'm 6'2 and 300lbs and could stand to shed 30 lbs but if I get back down to 270(That's actually zero belly for me) it will do nothing for me. My issue with OTSRs is that I have a large chest, like in a 56in. chest. I'm a no go Wildfire due to chest size alone. I can do PK.
Whats the deal about the cubbys? Glad i was fore-warned before next weekend. Can ya take what you have with ya on the ride, or are you forced to buy a locker? Every other ride has them, makes ya wonder how or why they forgot the cubbys. You cant tell me they forgot.... ???
We were told that all the new rides starting with outlaw run will have the lockers and no cubbys. All the rides that currently have cubbys will be keeping them.
They nixed the cubbys b/c without them it shaves wait times on rides. I dont like the dollar price for the lockers but other than that, its not a huge deal for my family. We take turns riding rides the way it is if needed. I think the lockers should be 25/50 cents at most.

It's called nickel and diming. I saw a complaint on facebook about considering the rides that SDC offers, it was more expensive than other parks. That poster, leaves off that SDC offers free parking that Six Flags doesn't. I get the more expensive due to all the other stuff including the amounts of shows, demonstrations and such that others don't. If the park is to add rides that makes it appeal to more of the masses used to Six Flags and nothing but rides, rides and more rides and not jack up admission to near Orlando levels they are going to find other ways to capture revenue. I actually get the refillable mug issue, They figure lots of folks are not going to come year after year, whether it's season passes from time to time or folks doing a two day visit. They may still see it as a good deal. Where as, lots of us year after year folks are grandfathered in. The cups do have a disclaimer on them, to cover there bases. I imagine there will be a time that parking is no longer free, I'm shocked that it still is considering the fuel costs these days seem to be sticking long term. That's why we will see things like season pass parking go to season passes themselves. It also gets more operating money in the budget upfront.
The thing I saw on Facebook this morning is that it appears they had lots of issues with most all the coasters and it was really an annoyance considering the large crowd that was more ride driven than say a Thursday crowd in June.

There is no doubt this is nickle and diming. There is no reason to charge any more than .50 for a locker. I do understand speeding up the load unload and think that's great but not for $1 a ride. ( even at future attractions alone).
The lockers are similar to the ones at Six Flags St. Louis. I still think SDC should have a central location for lockers and rent them out like Disney does. I would totally rent a locker that way; they'd be bigger, so you could stuff your hoodies when it gets too warm, change of clothes when you get too wet, lunchboxes or small coolers so you can bring your own food & drink but not have to lug it around the park with you.
As for the OT and the matter of size... I have to concur that I definitely felt like I was gonna fall out. Additionally, much of my weight is in my thighs, so the lap restraint was tight and uncomfortable... and when I got dressed for bed last night, I noticed that I had bruises on the outside of both thighs, right where the metal of the lap restraint was. (FYI, I'm 266 lb. and 5'3")
If anything, this is gonna be an additional motivator for me to lose weight, LOL.
IF you don't want to use the $1 lockers by Outlaw Run, use the 50c ones near River Blast.
It is true that all new rides for now on will have the new SmartCarte lockers like the ones at Outlaw Run.
I'm a bit confused about the "no cubbies" complaints. When I got on the ride, I took my iPhone out of my pocket and handed it to the attendant, who then placed it in a cubicle on the exit side of the load station. I wish I had given him my glasses as well.
The lockers weren't required today. We simply left our backpacks, hats, umbrellas, packages, etc. on the boxes and barrels on the exit side of the platform. The park was virtually empty with a wait time of 10 minutes or so.

its may only be $1 for a locker but for me its a matter of principle. after paying for passes, food, parking and gas to get there and back i don't want to spend another dime to just get on a ride with no cubbies. i was also given a free "re-ride" coupon at guest relations, that was good for anything except for marvel cave, for screwing up my season pass order 3 times. when i got on outlaw i handed my re ride coupon and the attendant told me i couldn't use it on that because "this ride is too new" even thought the outlaw run logo was CLEARLY printed on it. needless to say it i didn't have a great experience with outlaw run.
