Title: Best Deal of Season Passes extended
Post by: chittlins on December 31, 2012, 12:13:47 AM
Per SDC's Facebook, season ticket sales at the same price/benefits as those for the DEC 30 deadline has been extended for about a week. Due to overwhelming response. I wonder if that's just marketing or they really are having great sales.

Anywho, hoping for great weather in March.

They extend every year in recent memory. I think it's just a marketing thing.

Possibly marketing and possibly not getting the response that they wish they did. The economy is hurting everybody.

its a marketing thing,

1st you have to buy before 12-31....

then extend it 3 or 4 days to meet demand,,,,,,

probably will extend it at least 1 more time....

You know, we haven't purchased our season passes yet, and we usually buy ours at Old Time Christmas.  Money is a little tighter right now, and we do plan to buy them.  Still, my husband and I were talking, and we realize we haven't used a BAF in about three years.  Our extended family and friends have their own, and we don't really have anyone else to bring with us.  We really haven't used any of the perks in a few years.  So, we starting wondering why we are always in such a hurry.

My husband and I are planning a couple-only couple of days during spring break to try out Outlaw Run.  We will get them by then.

Looks like they extended it again - sorta'  BAF's are still included, but the ticket price went up $4 a head.
IIRC, this too is similar to the past several years.

I only used one BAF this season and that was a the very end.  My mom used the $30 deal and then I used that to upgrade to this year's pass.  They didn't let me have any BAFs though for next year due to some silly rule about "you got to visit this year so you don't get BAFs"  -- very bizzarre logic there as the BAFs only bring in money to the park so not sure why they'd want to cut off the nose to spite the face.  Anywho, no BAFs for me this year, but oh well.  Parents will be using the discounted admissions for the Spring ACE event (free if you went to Coaster Christmas) and then Coaster Christmas again next December

Did you buy your seasons pass for 2012?  I really don't understand the logic unless they gave you the seasons pass to start with.
I am ready with my seasons passes for this year and am looking forward to the spring coaster event.

I also got a new newsletter in the mail today, they have the seasons pass prefered parking pass listed again this year for $30.00.  I thought it was 20 last year.....  You know if they guaranteed they wouldnt make you drive down theQ there at the prefered parking but would allow you to make the right turn and get into the lot with that pass I would buy it.
That is a terrible bottleneck on a busy day.

Yeah.  I've had an annual pass for ever.  I just didn't feel like giving the park any more money than I had to and so I used Mom's ticket and upgraded it.  It really makes no sense, but that is apparently the way they do things.  Like I said, I just won't bring anybody with me to spend money in the park.  Seems like it would be their loss more than mine.

Earlier in Dec, Dollywood would give you free admission to the park for the remainder of the year with the purchase of 2013 passes. I don't know what perks normally come with early purchase of passes for the next season but seemed like there was no penality. I agree, BAFs spend money.

This has been the way for a long time...

With a one day paid admission you can trade that ticket in and for X amount of money you get a Season Pass to come all year long.

Since the park doesn't allow the following years Pass to be used the year before many people opt for this (I do like how Dollywood does it though).  However, when you do this it is a $20 discount and doesn't include Guest Vouchers.  If you do pay for a full price Season Pass you will receive Guest Vouchers, but the voucher benefit does end, usually in late spring.

Something different about the vouchers for this year July 20 - August 4 Moonlight Madness Voucher is $20 for all day rather than free after 6pm.  And if you waited this late to buy your passes Saturdays will be block out dates in December.

Also I hear Season Pass sales are up!!!  I think this season is going to be a busy one.

I realize that it has been this way for awhile, but it still doesn't make good business sense.
To me it didn't seem like it was worth the extra $30 to get BAFs when I really don't bring too many people (if any) to the park with me to use them.  Again, it is just not good business sense, but I'm sure they are paying people lots of money to do the thinking on this so whatever.

If SDC had offered the "buy a 2013 season pass and get one entry good during Old Time Christmas" we would have been all over it and SDC would have had us visiting the park in Dec 2012 (and gotten our spending money) and then we still would have come in 2013. In fact, I would have done this even if they'd said no BAFs because most years we don't have anyone who will use them and end up inviting local friends to join us just to use them. I guess I could have gone and bought a ticket at a discount and then upgraded, but that never even crossed my mind. If they'd advertised it as "buy a season pass and visit OTC" that would have been enough to get us to buy in November or December.

How long does it usually take to get the passes by mail? I ordered mine by the original deadline, but 10 days later I still do not have them.

Hopefully my mailbox wasn't hijacked.

Cowboy, i would think if you dont have them by this friday , ca;ll them..

If you ordered 10 days ago, you would have lost at least 4 days for holiday, and then a day or 2 for weekend,  and then you would the "snail mail" delay....LOL...

I wiould call if you dont see them this week,

On the website it says it could take up to 3 weeks for delivery...

Okay, I missed that "up to three weeks thing". When I've done this before, it was within the week, I was just wondering what other people were experiencing....and if I should be worried.

Maybe this is a sign that they have sold a bunch of passes and looking forward to a record year.

They have.  Numbers are way up from last year.  Also remember this is "vacation time" for most of the staff so it might take a little longer
