Here is some great documentation of the real old site

Those are really cool postcards. Hard to believe the humble beginnings of SDC and Marble Cave. Thanks for posting the link! :)
Kind of makes all the stories that we read about it being a real tourist destination before SDC even more real.
Oh man, that whole Harold Bell Wright website is fantastic. I just spent the last 2 hours skimming through it and I've just touched the surface. I've bookmarked it to return later. Thanks for providing the link.
Here are some pics of some pics from on the wall in the waiting area for the cave tour:

I'll throw this one in for old times' sake. This is just the old group picture staging area:

Cool pix, HB. Those wouldn't be of Jack and Sherry would they?
In the words of Sgt. Schultz, "I know nothing."
Anyone?
In the second picture, the woman seated behind the chair that says Marvel Cave sure does look like Mary Herschend. And the woman in the first picture does look a bit like Sherry. I can't be sure though.
Yes, that is Jack and Sherry with Mary and Ron, Bruce and Jim.
OK, exactly what's going on in those pictures?
Not sure but it looks to me like a home inside the cave - maybe when the Herschends lived in Marvel Cave during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Publicity stunt during that time. The family stayed in the cave for about a month. Good publicity, they were in Asian newspapers.
Yeah! Copper proves Doc was right! lol
hahaha
