Here's an interesting new partnership: http://hfecorp.com/pub/press/HFE_and_Rudolph_Press_Release.pdf
This is definitely a good fit for the chain, I'll be very interested to see how they use it next year.
Interesting news...Rudolph and friends can be in next year's SDC Christmas parade! Plus, I'll bet we will see some show, and lighted characters on park. Still, Rudolph from TV in the 1880's, not in Miss Mary's time! (Of course, it's NOT Miss Mary's time.)
But, but what about Rudolph's stepbrothers Comic, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Skippy, or whatever they call them these days? :)
Either way, it should be a interesting addition to the parks. Although I wonder how much this investiment will cost?
This makes SO much more sense than the random characters they bring to the park during Kids Fest.
Interesting small article at Screamscape today http://screamscape.com/
Seems SDC is going to take on Rudolph, sounds like a great and nostalgic move for folks of my age (44)
We all remember running to the set to see these specials before VCR and DVDs. This could make a great addition to the season in rides as they did the Flooding candy mine maybe it will be Rudolph and the great melting polar ice cap? or Fire and the hole can become escape from the Big While Furry Abominable Snowman?
Seriously if this is handled well and they are willing to drop a little cash and do some overlays this could really benefit them.
Please just don't stop at a " Tinker the Tree" type of show. Go all out, it could be fun.
Thoughts?
"Tinker the Tree",,, sure miss that show,, it was cute for ALL ages,,!!!!
I am pretty sure Tinker was Jim Dabdy and he went to the Grand Country. That may have had something to do with its demise.
Bring back Tinker!!!!
Our kids loved that show.

Actually the guy that voiced Tinker is the same guy that played the mailman in the Frosty show.
We've talked to several people about the demise of the Tinker show, and got several different answers. Basically it appears that the PTB just wanted to do something different.
I'm very optimistic about Rudolph, that could be really cool. What would be even more awesome is if they could combine Rudolph AND Tinker!!!!
I never got to see the candy mine. They should do that again
Here is the link to the Christmas version of The Flooded Mine. Oh how I wish this lasted more than one year, it was so amazing!

I'd like to see the Christmas Flooded Mine, also! Maybe it will cycle.
Our family would also like to see the Christmas flooded mine. That would be cool.
I could see Rudolph themed rides/attractions at several locations...what about a live show in one of the theaters of Rudolph's story (from the TV show?)
The original script (and print) of Rudolph had Yukon Cornelius looking for Peppermint to mine, not gold or silver. either way, a great tie in is possible.
You guys all talking about Rudolph, I saw this on FB today,,,, made me laugh..
OMG. As a huge Loki fan, I love that you posted that!!!
Growing up in the 90s our Rudolph VHS was well-loved. I got the DVD for myself last Christmas (even found one with the original Peppermint mine ending that someone was talking about!). Rudolph could make a good show, or be used in other ways around the park. I can't wait to see what they decide to do with it.
On the "Tinker the Talking Christmas Tree" topic, my family found him incredibly creepy and were glad to see him gone. We watched "Frosty" a couple weeks ago and found it to be cute and full of humor the adults can appreciate. Sidenote--Is the mailman "Shorty" from the street show? And who is the voice of the raccoon (I swear I've heard him in something on the park before)?
Yes, the mailman is Shorty. Not sure who does the raccoon.
Thanks Parson!

My sister and dad went to the saloon show while my mom and I stood in line for Dickens'. They met up with us before Dickens' started (we honestly weren't saving seats, it just worked out that way!) My sister said one of the guys who was in the saloon show sounded like Tinker and after the show, my dad went up and talked to him. They asked about Tinker and the guy said they plan on switching out Tinker and Frosty every few years. I'm not trying to get anyone's hopes up, because it was my dad and my sister who said it. But it would be pretty cool if they did do that! Because I'm not the biggest fan of SDC's Frosty, and I grew up with Tinker so I miss him a LOT!!
