Was sad to hear this news. I attended Neal Armstrong Elementary School in Hazelwood West Schools, St. Louis County. My father worked at McDonnell Douglas, and personally knew several of the Astronauts in the mid 60s to early 70s. He also collected autographs of those space pioneers, and I recall we did have Armstrong's autograph at one time. My dad was especially close to Gus Grissom, one of the men who died in a launchpad fire in the 60s. Neal Armstrong was called a reluctant hero, and found more satisfaction with being an educator at the college level. I understand after he discovered people were selling his autograph for big bucks on ebay and other places, he chose not to sign his name for people, which I highly respect. I have thumbed through his autobiography, which I would reccomend to all. Godspeed, Neal Armstrong! :)
