It's our fifth year with this game, and we have still yet to run out of stumpers.
Get ready for a season full of NEW surprises.
Last season Pintrader was the champ...we will see if he can successfully defend his title!
You can look at the last season or two of the game to see it in action:
2010: http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=668.0 (http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=668.0)
2011: http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=1478.0 (http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=1478.0)
It's
still the most popular board on the forum. From time to time, on a very irregular basis, so no one can predict and lurk waiting for the newest clue, I will post a picture of an item, a sign, or a portion of such. The first person to correctly identify its location in the park gets a point. It will start on day 1, and end on the last day of the season...start studying folks!
The Up-to-Datiest Score:
Everyone = ZERO
Woohoo! I have been waiting on this since last year! I am never any good at it, but it is still fun none the less! I am hoping for some easy ones, and some extremely challenging ones. I would like to see one, or two that even a Silver Dollar City employee would be scratching their head over. ;D
I'll be blasted! Silver Dollar City's Facebook page has copied us again, and they have done their own version of "Where in the City" today! Copy cats. :P
Bring it on! It's only up for me...I only got one (the final one) right last year! This year, I gotta at least DOUBLE that! HA!
This sounds like fun! Although, as I discovered recently as SDC's Facebook did this, I recognize the sign, but can't place it. ::) Hahaha.
Always a fun game! And I tell you, OzarkBBQ, rube does a great job of posting pictures that employees can get stumped on...at least I do. Heck, I don't even know the easy ones half the time.
Yes, rube always does a good job, and i know we all appreciate it!.

Aww Tiff come on! and no... old sdcer that isn't it!
If this is where we are starting and the game is gonna get harder through the year, I'm screwed.

The Opry House?
Interesting! If I am not mistaking, Blue Eye, Galena, and Notch are all cities in Stone County. Although, that still doesn't tell me where this picture is at! ;)
Just for the sake of guessing, I am going to throw out Hospitality House.
Train Station
Post office in the General Store?
My guess is the Post Office.
FItH, near the murals at the entrance?
Silver Dollar Saloon?
Nah just didn't want a gimme...I saw too many people logged on when I was posting!
Some of the intentionally cut off text is a HUGE clue to the location...
I'll give a hint in a day or two if it is still a no-go.
Are we allowed to guess twice?
Is it by Marvel Cave?
hotel/ice cream parlor
I thought I was the one askin' question! Gettin' an answer outta you is as hard as tryin to nail jello to the wall! Sure one guess a post okie, oncei turn it down...you are free to go again!

Oh Man!! the teacher really came out in you with that statement...........
So I will SWAG it.............
Wilderness church?
Oak Trail School
Well Sanddune...The ethic of reciprosity, coloquially termed as the expression "Golden Rule" is not found in the Bible. However, the rule enunciated by Jesus that people call the Golden rule is found: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you," Jesus said, "do ye even so to them..." (Matt. 7: 12). It is in fact found on the sign outside of the Oak Trail Schoolhouse...Way to go cjfootball_89!!!

Oh! Now I see where it says "Golden Rule"! I was trying to figure out what the black letters at the top said!
It said "Miss Bonnie Jean, Teacher"
Ha! Oh you sneaky person Rube. I always knew that I would learn something around here, I just didn't expect to get the lesson from the Oak Trail School. :D

And it is a 3 way tie!!!!

I do have to say I'm not as nervous walking around Christmas Hollow anymore with everything being so spread out!
Yes plenty more chances to come...HA how many of you saw the new post and thought it is a new picture to guess!!!! Soon grasshoppers, patience is a virtue

I don't have my paperwork from the city yet so unfortunately I haven't been there yet this year making some of these guesses shots in the dark. What about Molly's mill?

Becca's Weaving is still where it was last year, up the hill. As you exit Grandfather's Mansion take a left and you will run into Miss Kate's. Miss Kate's is the old Bishop's Watercolor and deals in quilts and fabrics and such.
It is where Pintrader said it was in the old metal/ pewter shop which before that was the old pottery shop.

Fire in the hole?
This is in the trees in front of the craft and culinary school as you go into the grand expo area.
If I recall, it has something to do with tomato packing.
Indeed Woodcarver, Newark's Edgett-Burnham canning company was founded in 1863 as the Wayne County Preserving Co. by Ezra Edgett of Camden, New York. Everything was local then and crops were grown mostly on the factory farm, now site of the Newark Plaza, or purchased from area farmers. Featured were fruits, vegetables, and--it is said--even canned turkey and geese for civil war troops. The factory was located at what was then the western edge of the village of Newark and employed many seasonal workers.
This however is located outside of the Red Gold Hall.

Inside Opal Parnell's cabin (between the shingle saw and the apple butter shop).
The silver dollar city saloon...(even though I think Ozark is correct)
the flower bed infront of the train station, there is a ol' trunk in there with a picture like this on it. if this IS it, its pretty torn up since i took a picture of it last year.
I don't believe it. I thought this one was a stumper. Not that I was trying to make it hard, but there I go thinking I made things a bit too tough, and I was happily suprised. Odds are that if'n I took time to stop and look at it, then odds are someone else on here did/ will too to try to stay a step ahead of me! Yes! And it looks like there is carpet on the wall to the left of it. Thus, my first guess was that it is in some shop.
I'm guessing what I call the "apple shop" where you can buy apple butter and turnovers
I was thinking flooded mine too, in the office area where the desk is falling through the floor, but I can't recall if that particular item still exists.

Thanks, Rube! At least I'll be able to sleep tonight!! ;D Now, where in Heartland is it?
I think it was in the "office" furniture area, above/ next to the desk...I did not write that much down about it!, all that I put on my notes was Heartland!
#22 Good luck...you'll need it on this one!
Bathroom during harvest festival.
Guest relations building?
The bathroom to the left of gift shop area off Main St. Square.
Bathroom under Woodcarver's Shop?
Partition around the buffet at Molly's mill restaurant?
One of the petitions in the building where you can change diapers at the entrance to the Grand Exposition area
WINNER!!!!! I thought it was harder than that!
Joshblakebran somehow pegged it with the changing/ nursing station in Shad's cabin next to Red Gold...now hopefully you have kiddos and have utilized the place, and not just wandered in aimlessly to try and figure out my picture!

Never woulda guessed it seeing as I've never been in there... This is a great game rube keep it up!!!
I have not technically been "in" the building, but my wife was needing me to hold the door while she was leaving the building one afternoon, and I saw a nice photo opp, that was not invasive or violating in any way!

do what?! ???
HowDo, I'm with you - what??? Must be a newly painted sign somewhere. ??? ???
I am going to guess the mural on your right as you are leaving the Ozark Marketplace walking thru the turnstiles.
An item on display by a craftsman with a nice tree in the background.
Here is a hint...sorry Rube, I saw the shot prior to your editing...it is a sign. Where, I don't know!
I know I was mad, even though I cropped he original, it wouldn't update for a while!
I noticed that, also; but, I still don't know where it is. I'll have to sort thru my gazillion pics again.
Over by sullivans mill?
By the Homestead?
Is it up in the old land of forgotten crafts - in the opera house area?
Culinary arts school
I thought this one was easier than the last one...keep a going, and yes the hint was given by Junior, this is on a sign...
17 hrs later..... no one else??
Maple's Tole Painting?
nope Pin...try again
O isn't it up near the opera house? Someone help me out here
Nope, Maybe you should grab something to eat, then take another guess...
Annie's Shack? ???
Molly's Mill Restaurant?
Big Jack's?
Funnel cakes by Browns candy?
APPLE BUTTER SHOP! I'm right, right? Am I right? ;D
Hospitality House mural segment?
Nope...She is a friend of Molly and Annie...
Poke Salad Mary's?
Aunt Polly likes them both!
Yee Haw!!!! you got it Pintrader!!!! That one was tougher for ya'll than I thought it would be!

That was definitely a humbling experience :).
Wow...given the amount of guessing I figured this had to be a new, small, well hidden sign. It was in fact- large, out in the open and has been there as long as I can remember. That one stumped quite a few of us.
Is Poke Salad Mary's ever open? Seems like when I go by there it is closed.
I don't know biscuit if they open or not...most offereings are available elsewhere in the park, and I see no need for it unless it is a busy day.
On to the next order of business!

General store
Ashley's Tintype Photography?
I agree with Pintrader
if Pintrader gets this one, they are doing something illegal.. :D
Post Office?
The 20th century reliance printing press, also known generically as an "iron hand press" or "Washington hand press." Paul Shniedewend of Chicago produced a press named the this Washington-style press, as a heavy-duty proofer for photoengravers, long after IRON HAND PRESSES were obsolete for commercial printing. The press was manufactured from 1895 to 1912. I have seen them go for $3,000+ in operating condition online.

In between the Saloon and the Fireman's Cemetery?
Pottery shop yard?
How about adjacent to the candy factory?
Before the turnstyles..... ???
To the right of the build a bear shop.
The building in the background is familiar, and I would say from looking at it that it is one of the older structures on park. The paint color tells me it is an older building, too. Does this help anybody, or just confuse?
I was also thinking between the saloon and cemetery.
Since Rube has not responded to us, I'll take another guess...next to what used to be the cut glass shop, now I think it is a quilt shop. Located across the pathway from the railroad talking bucket and the New Madrid Earthquake water fountain.
is it while ya'r on the train, somewhere?
Next to the picture shop where you can get your name put on a mailbox or house in a cabin scene (across from the toy shop).
Pin trader had it right away...I was just letting people go, and see where it goes!

You need to slow down Ozark Woodcarver! Now I know how those pieces of wood feel when you whittle on them. ;)
Sometimes you gotta make a little sawdust to end up with the picture you want. ;)

I myself have never had it linked to my email. I just check and guess.
If I was able I would disable that feature and take it back to before an email would be sent to notify of a new post! that, or I inundate everyone with so many messages on here that it appears as if I am crying wolf, so when I do end up posting a new image, people don't feel like checking it.
But I wouldn't do that...

Not a smoker but I would say this looks like the one between the Woodcarver's - bathroom area and the treehouse.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say its by the river battle
Yeah, it's that smoking area at...uh, you know, uh, Silver Dollar City! Um, ah, I'd recognize that spot anytime! Walked right by it many a time! Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket! ;D (Just kidding around!)
Aww... Junior got it right.
That's it, Junior! You're right! I have walked by there a thousand times, but can I tell you exactly where??? :'( All I can say is, "over there".
I think Pintrader got it again... Darn it. As I often as Bluegrass Widow and I stop by these things you'd think I'd know em all. Sorry for the interruption in what I thought would be a good push to the end of last season. My daughter had a few hiccups in her eye recovery after surgery, and we lost a lot of sleep, and personal time with her illness. That, and 9hrs of post masters/graduate credit hours, while teaching 6 different classes a day, and coaching track left me wanting sleep, and SDC, I got neither! I was able to make it this weekend for the first time this season, and it was so very nice to get to see the new additions. Here is our obvious closure for this last season...
PINTRADER WINS!!!!!
Does This Mean The Next Round Is Going To Start Soon?
It has already begun Wolfhunter!
