well let's get this started:
Trams says she will be there opening weekend! At least she wont be letting those season passes go to waste ;D ;D
I will be going the weekend of march 24th/25th- 24th is my B-day, so that will be fun, was hoping to do the showboat, but too early in the year for them. Already have my reservations for The Haygoods on sat...
Anybody else going in march?
Opening Day is my birthday, maybe someone will be nice to me, LOL.
I'll be there opening Friday & the infamous youth weekend with the family...unless I'm called in sooner ;)
opening day is my bday too...YIPPIE what a good bday present....we r goin that week also
I hope to get there opening day or in the first few days park is open. Got to wait to see what the schedule looks like for work.
oldsdcer- I have a spare free ticket. Its yours if ya want it. Happy Birthday!
My birthday is March 28! March is the best month for a birthday!
I'm going to Branson for Spring Break and I plan on taking a friend with me, so we'll probably be at SDC March 22, or 23. My sister has State Competition for winterguard March 24 in Springfield, so it'll save her a 3 hour bus ride since we'll already be in Branson.
I was thinking about March 22,23,24 weekend also. Our first planned trip for sure will be Easter weekend, April 6-9 which also happens to be my birthday weekend.
Well, my spring break doesn't start 'til Saturday the 17th, so I may be there that Sunday or sometime that next Thursday or Friday. It'll depend on weather, transport, and health.
I sent Paige a note about when she will be open. No answer yet,, I would expect her to open march 31st which is a sat, or a week later 4-6?...
FYI, I am staying this weekend at Honeysuckle inn, cost is 45.oo for the time being, NO Swimming pool, NO continental breakfast... there is coffee in the room and WIFI on site.... I have stayed here before and rooms are clean, and it is on the SOTH expressway,,, I dont know how long this price will remain.
I did call Best western in old branson, Paige's "other" motel.. They told me our fee was 59.95, they do have indoor pool, and a very nice breakfast.\
I will stay at honeysuckle in march also...
On another note:
Let me the 1st to make this offer....
IF at any time this year anybody on this site wants/needs to use 1 of my BAF's, and can meet me at the park accordingly. let me know!
I would be glad to help anybody out if i can.
2012 should be a very good year!
I too will make that offer. If I am onsite and your onsite, and I have the spares, let me know in advance and I would be thrilled to let you have mine.
hi there josh, i saw your post on one of the other topics. How have you and the family been this year? hope winter has been gentle this year, we have been very lucky this year with very mild winter :)
when is your 1st trip scheduled this year?
I can't go anywhere until I lose this broken knee brace thingy at the end of March (too uncomfortable to sit in the car), but hoping to make a weekend trip as soon as I lose it! Target destination is Apr. 5, so I'll also post my plans and will offer my BAFs if you meet us at the park.
I want to go april 7 weekend also. Just for that saturday. I want to do the Easter Egg hunt. But then B and B is comin up rapidly and the all you can eat ribs. We all seriously need to take up a car pool or a gas pool. Or buy a community gas station. :P
I will be going opening day!
Larson, I saw that you were coming down next month...
Make sure you read the updates on the thread " Homestay- Eagle Lodge", in the branson talk section.
Paige Has another motel available for us to use and will be open.

I know. I have my own motel though. ;D
Larson, I didn't know if you would bring the camper this time of year or not..

We're actually not going until Easter now. Going to Bennet Springs next month to do some trout fishin'. But thanks for the heads up, I will make it a point to stay with Paige at least once this year. Had a blast last time and really do appreciate what she does for us and will do what I can to get her some biz.
Tentative plans are to be on park on opening day, Thursday. I hope to be there early for breakfast, and plan to spend a while in the afternoon over in Branson if possible to get some tornado damage shots. I want to post SDC and Branson photos on my Flickr site. We will see what happens.
It looks like we won't make it until early April. :( Need a couple of weeks of p.t. to recover from broken knee incident first. But...that's okay! I'll be ready for World Fest! :)
Well, we're officially heading into Branson on March 17th and to the park on the 18th. We're going to stay at Grand Country Inn for the first time and try out the indoor water park. We're trying this mainly for the two-year-old. We're hoping Sunday won't be too busy at SDC.
Sorry to hear about your knee Gilligan, but going to Silver Dollar City late is always better than not going at all.
Stacey, it sounds like your family will have a nice trip. It's good to know that you will be trying something new. Some people get into a rut with Branson, and visit the same places during each visit. Branson has so much to explore. :)
I love Grand Country Inn. It is absolutly amazing for the kids. Heck its fun for me! It is pricey and I dont like to pay the price so I dont go often. But the price is well worth it. It will be a full trip when coupled with SDC!! Have a good time and safe trip!
It sounds like alot of us will be there opening day/weekend!! How exciting!!
Will be there on the 17th with my bright yellow shirt on. Staying at the Homestead Inn.
yall I am about to wet myself with excitement!! I am soooo ready!!
Ozark--Yes, we like to try new things here and there to mix in with our favorites.
Trams--Grand Country Inn is pricey for Branson, but I convinced my husband that we should try it. We stayed at a place in Tulsa last July with an indoor water park, and it was so fun for our toddler. We think she will love this, too!
Hey trams and stacey. do you ever go to any of the shows at Grand Country?
The reason i ask, is If you do, You should consider buying a grand country season pass---
You get into all the shows all year for free,
you get 2 for 1 meals at the buffet,
AND new this year,, you get 50% off on the price of their rooms,
And you still get admittance to the water park,
there a couple of other items, but these are the big ones..
The pass is about 100.00 per person, but at 100.00 per nite... 1 pass would pay for itself in 2 nites...
Just letting you know.,......
Thats pretty cool. We dont usually spend that much at Branson for one night if possible. Camping or the Homestay for us. After buying season passes our fun account gets low low low!! But well worth it! :D
I guess my thought was IF you preferred Grand Country because of the water park.. the season pass would be a big savings if you were to stay there 2 or 3 times a year.. AND that is just savings on the room and water park.. NOT counting any of the shows for free, or the discounts for eating..
Interesting idea, sanddunerider. We shy away from shows right now. The toddler may or may not sit through a show; you just never know. Sometimes we are doing well to get through dinner. It is something to keep in mind, though. :)
My husband was seriously injured in an industrial accident Feb. 23rd. We had planned on being at The City this weekend. His face is now full of infection so our travel plans are on hold as they may have to go in and remove the titanium plates from his cheek and orbital lobe, clean out the infection, restructure the orbital lobe, cheekbone and jaw again then put in new titanium plates. Should the Lord heal this infection we WILL be there Saturday AND Sunday. Looking forward to going "home" again.
We are excited to get the 2012 season kicked off. We're ok with no new attractions this year. We love The City and are just glad we are able to walk through the gates once again. Frankly, I like the idea of taking the time to go through SDC and fix and update what is already there. We want our grandchildren to enjoy SDC as much as we have and our children have. Preservation is very important.
We will be staying at the HOMESTAY INN AND SUITES (417.336.2666). The owner is a member of sdcfans.com. The rooms are clean. The beds are comfy. We are now regulars. She has a special offer for members of this board. I hope she sees this post and will fill you all in on her newest acquisition and her rates - they are rates that no one can beat! If you want breakfast it's good, simple fare.
Just 2 more days folks! Woo woo. :) God bless and we hope to see everyone this year. Happy birthday to all of the March babies on the board. Hope the opening of Silver Dollar City helps you celebrate another year filled with smiles and blessings!
FYI: Sean Casey, the film maker who did the "Tornado Alley" movie for IMAX, will be in Branson at the IMAX Theater Friday-Sunday (March16-18) with the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle). IMAX is donating proceeds from "Tornado Alley" movie tickets to "Convoy of Hope" to help with the Branson clean-up and healing. An admirable act IMHO. Our 4 1/2 year old grandson is beside himself as he loves anything tornado. He thinks the TIV is pretty "cool". lol
Here is the link to the story about Sean Casey and his visit to Branson: http://bransontrilakesnews.com/entertainment/article_cd2bc388-6a36-11e1-8b8e-0019bb2963f4.html
OK, if all goes well, I will be on park opening day. If anyone is there too, I'd be glad to shake your hand and say howdy in person. Let me know. Leave a message. :)
busymom, thanks for the info..
.Sorry to hear about the hubby...
actually Paige @ Homestay is a sponsor here on the site. This will be my 3rd year staying at her motel.
Your right, Paige and her crew do an amazing job. We actually set up the SDCFan discount last spring. ( i think). anyway it is a great deal...

ON ANOTHER NOTE, I will be at the city on march 25th, SOOOOO if anyone is going to be there and can use BAF's let me know. I plan on being there 1st thing is the morning, I am just hoping the weather holds out. ;D
if it all works out, we all have a trip planned for the 31st of this month with my brother & his girl.
I'm going March 22 instead of March 23.
We are still going this sunday the 25th, we will be there for opening ceremony.. have not decided if we are doing breakfast there or not..
I do have Baf's, sooooooo if anybody need them let me know....
Looks like the wife and I will be there this Saturday (24th). We're coming down Friday evening, and she wants to shop at Tanger. We'll check in at the Homestay afterwards (Hi, Paige!) and hit the city for Breakfast at Mollie's and the Rope Drop Saturday morning. We'll probably stay till close before heading home.
We have four BAFs. . . .
Just planned a last minute trip to the city. I will be going thurs and Friday and I will try to get my parents to let me go to the city on Saturday as well. Hope to see everyone there!
We will be in the City Friday the 23rd. I look like a short Santa wearing overalls, tie dye silver dollar city shirt, and a cap that says grumpy. If you see me, stop and say hi.

A wonderful lady at church passed away Wednesday ngiht, and her funeral is Saturday, and the choir is singing, so I will be there. A BIG, HUGE THANK YOU to Paige for allowing us to change our reservations to 4/20 so late in the game.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss palallin. Thankfully, Silver Dollar City can always wait for a more appropriate time.
Speaking of that, is anyone battling the crowds this weekend? My father is at Silver Dollar City right now, and told me it took him over an hour just to make it to the park. Spring break is in full swing for so many people! ;D
YEEEE HAAAAWWW!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)
OVER 19,000 people there today!!
With that many people this early in the season, I hate to see how the summer is going to be!
wow, 19,000.. i know what thats like.. thank Heaven we'll be there early on the 31st. thats ok, that'll give me more time for pictures so maybe i can make 2 slideshows. we are also going back on Sun. for afew hours. ;D
Spring break weekend for many + beautiful, sunny day = PACKED PARK ;D
Hopefully, things will be a bit more spread out over the summer months.
Saturday was packed...Sunday EMPTY!!!!
I'M COMING! I'M COMING! I'M COMING! ZIPPITY DO DA! ZIPPITY DAY! April 12! Had to fit it around p.t. sessions, but I'm coming!! First time during World Fest and I can't wait! ;D
I heard from 1 of my friends at SDC that about 12,000 on sat and 5-6,000 on sunday,,,
???
OK>> who else will be there this sunday? the 22nd...??
I will be there, MHGUY will be there and bringing some friends.... anybody coming sunday early that has extra BAf's he could use.? I have 2 for him...
Anybody going to be at Homestay/SDC June1-15?
We will miss you by 1 day.. >:( coming in on the 16th..
If things go as planned, I hope to visit the park THURSDAY. I'll take plenty of Worldfest photos, and will get some updated photos of the new ride progress from a seat on the train. I'm going to try to swing by the Culinary Crafts building to take a shot of Echo Hollow construction, and stop at the new location of the Christmas shop and the new woodcarvers location, just to see what is going on there. Perhaps it is time for some more pictures from around the park to point out "theme-breakers" for another round of "not in Miss Mary's time." We'll see how it goes. Hope to see you there!
Well junior, it want be hard to see "theme breakers" .
i saw several the last time i was down and wasnt even lookn! :o :o :o
We will be at the "City" the afternoon of Thursday, May 3rd, Friday May 4th, and Saturday May 5th... Typically, we do other things around Branson, but this time, we're planning to make it a "Silver Dollar City" trip only ... Family is very excited.
I'm hoping to be at SDC on Sunday, but we'll see if our plans work out... I haven't been to the park yet this season... :-(

Right now--fingers, toes, and eyes crossed--everything looks like a GO for this weekend!
As always, if you see a guy with a mustache wearing a black slouch hat (most people think it's a cowboy hat) with red cords around the base of the crown and brass crossed cannon on the front, it'll likely be me.
A little background info first: DH and I bought Season Passes in December for 2012. I was looking forward to frequent day trips to the City. Just after the start of the year DH got switched to night shift, meaning he sleeps during the day (making visits hard). We weren't sure exactly when/if we'd make it. :(
BUT, we're looking making a weekend trip at the beginning of June for our Anniversary and hopefully taking our friends with our BAFs. ;D I'm very excited right now! (Fingers crossed my new job lets me get off for a bit!)
OK, so who is going to be there sunday?
Looks like:
me (sanddunerider)
MHGUY
Pallalin.
anybody else??????,
and if so... If you have any extra BAF's, Mhguy could use a couple of more on Sunday. I am letting him use my last 2. we are going to meet about 9:00 at the city.
Supposed to be a BEEUUTIFUL day!!! ;D

I appreciate the help from you guys it looks like her kids are gonna have to wait for there first rides on FITH and TNT. I hate they wont me going but really appreciate the BAF help, you guys are great and I appreciate being a member of a group of helpfull friends.
Thanks
Matt
( But I will still see you all there !! )
It's a 70% chance that I'll be there Sunday.
And its my birthday SDC trip, I should get a free trailblazer pass for that!!
Here today. Find me if you can. :)
MH, tough break about your friend's mother....

;D We had to leave Saturday evening, so we didn't make it Sunday to the city. I'll post a brief review.
MHGUY: Paige told us that things weren't going well for your trip when we checked in Friday ngiht: sorry to hear it.

We will be there June 2 if anyone would be willing to let us use some of here BAFs, there are 6 in our family, but we are meeting 6 more up there. So, any available tickets would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and May God Bless!!!
Looks like we are going memorial weekend...probably sunday/monday morning.. More info as the month progresses.
We plan on being there the 19th and 20th of this month.
I am hopin for June. We will see though.
We should be there sometime after the around the 3rd weekend of May.
Looks like we get to help kick off BG&BBQ (my second favorite festival) this Saturday. We'll be heading down Friday evening to spend the night as Paige's guests after a day of showing Steelville school kids what life (and death) was like in the Civil War. We'll get up early Saturday and hit the City in time for breakfast before the opening ceremony. We'll have to head home after the City closes, alas! but we plan to make the most of Saturday.
pallalin, what's your favorite? Just curious...
You lucky ducky you! I wont be to the city until June 8.......

Harvest/Crafts is my favorite, mostly because it's the closest to the City's roots and Fall is my favorite season. I am at home in the Ozarks no matter the season, but Fall just seems the Ozarkiest. :D
I wont be at homestay this time, BIL rented my family a cabin @ the wilderness in exchange for my BAFs.

That would be cool!! Just as long as you dont judge my crazy nut tree family.
You haven't met my family!
some info for you people doing cabins @ the wilderness... Check out the cabins at Bavarian Village, they are literally just down the road for SDC and very reasonable in pricing.. check 'em out!
Hey, all! Making an unexpected (but welcome) trip to SDC TODAY! My little Kindergarten aged grandson wanted to skip school today and go to SDC instead! Can you blame him? So I'll be running around park today with him. I will try to post some Bluegrass and BBQ photos for you, as well as the latest photos on the new coaster progress, late in the day. So be looking for those shots. Oh, I'll be the 50ish grey headed gent wearing an old school SDC cap if you are on park today. Walk on over and say "howdy" to Junior! ;)

If all goes well, we'll be hitting the City Saturday (maybe get there for a coupla-three hours Friday night, too).
Anyone else going on August 9, the day of the big announcement. My family decided to spend a long weekend in Branson and at least a few of us will be stopping by that day.
Hmmm... I'd love to be there, but I don't think I'd find a ride. Plus, Thursdays are when our English Society critique group meets.
No, wish i could be there thursday,,,, we are driving down friday for the weekend.. it si the wifes b-day so we have several things planned AND this weekend is car show weekend....
I wish I could be there, also. I'll be there a week later.

Sandunerider...I have a trip up to SDC planned for today. It was one of those short notice things. I've got 10 grandkids, and I've had the chance to take some of them to the park already. Today I will take another one of 'em and it will be his first trip! Getting ready to head out the door right now. See ya'll there! We're thinking about heading up to Branson this Sat/Sun (29-30).
If we go, we will definitely be calling HomeStay Inn!
We would be hitting up SDC on Sat, haven't been since spring, so we are looking forward to it.
Dollar, good luck making it to the city! If you do you will be amazed at how nice the park looks! I know I was...
Ok, so we didn't get to make it to Branson last weekend. We went to Hot Springs with my In-Laws and stayed in a Yurt on Lake Catherine.
My parents, however, did get to go to Branson and they stayed at HomeStay with their dog Willow.
Anyhoo, we ARE going to be in Branson on Saturday Oct 27 & Sunday Oct 28!! Just made reservations this morning with HomeStay. I think this will be a great weekend to be there, because the leaves should be looking really good by then. :)
Dollar have a great weekend.......BUT!!!!! NOTICE!!!! NOTICE!!!!
Silver Dollar City is closed on sunday thhe 28th, in Preparations for OTC!!!!!
SAT. the 27th is the LAST day of Fall Festival....
THANKS for the reminder Sanddune! We typically do Branson stuff on Sat, and SDC on Sunday (lighter crowds). We'll just switch our days for that weekend, should be no problem.
I know several years ago, we were there for the last weekend of Fall, and it was sorta interested to say the least. It was half Fall, half Christmas. But who cares right?! ITS SDC!!!! :)
DH and I will be going to the city at the end of this week! Feeling a little "homesick" for SDC, so the Bluegrass Pandora station is helping me make it through this week. :)
A reminder to everyone that SDC has a special going on until the end of fall festival......
A season pass holder can get in up to 6 people for 25.00 each plus tax...!!
We'll be there this Saturday and Sunday as well.
My wife and I will be there this Saturday (and maybe late Friday, depending on how early she can get off work).
we will be there at the city all day tomorrow
Anybody planning on going the 1st weekend in Dec, I will be there on Sunday...

Anybody else going to be @ homestay 1st and 2nd?
No my inlaws paid for a cabin at Thousand Hills. So we will be staying there.
I'll be there November 23rd, and 24th which is the one weekend no one else around here seems to be going. Which is ironic since it is supposed to be the busiest weekend of the season. :)

I have arrived!!!!!! Off to SDC yall.
Have a great time Missin!
Have fun, Trams! You're in for a treat! Ride the train for all of us that aren't there.
Yeah Trams!! ;D
I rode the train ( :o :) :) :'( yes all of those emotions)......almost a walk on. Tonights crowds were fantastic along with the weather. Will post a review tomorrow after all said and done.
Can't wait to read it!
Here is my review.
Came in Friday evenig and as able to get about 4 hours in the city. It was not crowded. I mean ther were people there but it want crowded. We hit Fire in the Hole first and was a walk on. We rode it twice. The lights were amazing!!! Just beautiful. Was able to ride the train. Had to wait 5-10 minutes. They were running two. My what a ride. A must do. :) Saw santa. Terry was a hoot. All the rides were open but I just couldnt brng myself to ride anything. Feel kinda guilty for it. My son wanted toride powderkeg so bad. Didnt get anything special. Just kinda moseyed (sp) around. Just amazng. Getting out was a little hairy. The weather was FANTASTIC!!!
Today we went to Dixie Stampede. Fun. Then we went to the Track and my kid was thrilled with that!! He had a blast. We then headed towards the city. Mistake big time. We took Shepherd of the Hills towards the city. Waited in line and hur and a half. Got to the stop light before the stop light headed towards SDC and just turned around. You could see the line of traffic went all the way to the city and the lots were full. It just wouldnt have been good visit. Kid was slightly dissapointed. I had not seen traffic that bad ever. Seriously, evenduring kidsfest. So if you went to the city today I am sorry for the insane crazy nutbag traffic. I took a picture of the line of cars and will post pictures o my trip later. I am off to walk the strip.
Glad you and your family had a great time, Trams! That's pretty much what we did this year, also - walked around and took in the sights. No reason to feel guilty - it's your first OTC!! You probably made the right choice after viewing the traffic. Last year, we saw traffic backed up all the way to 165. Thankfully, we were going the opposite direction. We also got trapped in the parking lot once. Literally, trapped - we were wedged in, and there was no way we could get out. I called security to see if they could help us out - I would have just sat in the car and waited, or headed back to Delilah's for a cup of coffee to wait it out, but I was with a family member who doesn't like SDC, and she was going ballistic! (and it was her car, so had no choice!) Note: try to avoid traffic and never again go during OTC with a cranky family member that doesn't like the city.
You're trip sounds like fun. Enjoy the rest of it!
Headed for the city.............
Was it Wilie Nelson that sang....................
" On the road again"..............................???
i know ya'r feeling Trams, read my review.... :'(
i was going to look for you How, but I forgot. Then I found out you never made it. lol! I never would have found you anyway.
true.. ::)
It looks like the wife and I will be there this Friday night for a couple hours and maybe for a couple more Saturday night.
The primary reason for the trip is to see the Christmas Cantata at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Kimberling City (Sat 2 - 4) and do some shopping at Tanger (yeah, I know, but we're meeting some friends, and we have some gifts to buy for the angel tree here at work), but we just can't be that close and not visit a little bit!
I'll be going to the city with my wife and a friend of ours on Sunday. I'll try to snap as many pics as I can! The forecast for Sunday looks to be Sunny with a high of 59 and a 0% chance of precip., so it should be a great day to visit!
Also, this will be our FIRST OTC! We're really excited! ;D
I'll be there tomorrow!! I'm bringing a bunch of friends to use up the BAFs, don't want them to go to waste!
have a great day Tiff, hopefully the "bad" weather will blow through before you get there..
I will be going to Silver Dollar City in about an hour and a half. If anybody's going to be there today, I am wearing a long sleeve green shirt and blue jeans. I will also have on my leather jacket
Still plannning on a visit next sunday, the last day of the SDC season!!..
I have 1 BAF if anyone here can use it.. we are planning on being there at the drop of the gate.. (12:00) or shortly thereafter..
K, anyone got trips planned yet? My brother has a trip planned for Mar. 22-23-24, he's gunna let us use the BAF passes & we should be going on Sun. the 24th. We shall see..
My wife and I are planning to do Opeining Day (and the weekend) for our anniversary. . . .
I'll be there sometime in April for WorldFest - no set date yet...
