You Gospel music fans will recognize the Brumley name. Albert Brumley wrote some of the greatest inspirational songs ever, including "I'll Fly Away," which is one of his most recorded songs. The Brumley music company was initially located in Powell, MO in McDonald County. It is now located in Nashville. Al Brumley has passed on, so now the music company is handled by some other family members, and it's family that keeps the music festival going in Lebanon, MO. They also have one in Springdale, AR that is well attended.

"I'll Fly Away" is one of my favorite songs! I'm suprised I didn't know who wrote it.

Just a reminder about the big Gospel program coming up in Lebanon, MO August 1-4! Click on the above mentioned links for more information. The card for the sing is still posted on my Flickr site, though you will have to go back a page or two to find it. This is a major program, and is well worth attending if you are a big Gospel music fan. Kind of think of it as the SDC Gospel Picnic, but with no rides!  ;)
