Good riddance or...How are we going to survive without them?!

I know if they do go away I'm going to save a lot of money. My kids love that stuff.
can you say/// BYE BYE!
I think you keep the Ice Cream real at Hannah's and call it a day!
I second that motion!!
Im on the fence either way. I didnt really much notice them anyway. It would be nice to see them go do to themeing issues, but if they stayed it wouldnt be skin off my astrobula.
Well even though it didn't fit with the theme my daughter and I loved sharing a bowl. Ahh well such are the times I suppose. I've never had the ice cream at hannahs. Is it really that good?
I'm sure some entity will swoop in and purchase Dippin' Dots. It's a profitable company, they just had some debt that the bank screwed them over on from the sounds of it. Sounds like they might have lost their patent rights on the process though - that might hurt them more than having to go through bankruptcy...
By the way, where are dippin dot's actually sold on park? I haven't seen them in forever.
I think that's part of the problem. They were so insignificant in my observances in the park during recent years that I couldn't even tell you if they sold them still or not. I just knew that the likelihood was that they still did. Down by Echo Hollow if I remember correctly.
Hannah's ice cream is pretty good. Better yet though, their banana splits were amazing, my new favorite snack at the city.

According to my kids, on the left past TNT. (My wife says around the train tracks where the citizen shuts the gate for the train to go by). I remember one being between Wilson's Farm and the train trestle but I think that one has been gone a while.
Whether or not they were/are a good fit for the park I still thought it was a good product and enjoyed it as did my kids. SDC was about the only place we were able to get them, so AFAIC they will be missed.
Goodbye! Never liked 'em in the first place. Thought it was wrong to see them sold on park.
I remember seeing them by the Flooded Mine and as you entered the Grand Expo.
I love the things, but $$$$$$$
Ice cream of the future / 1880's Theme Park ?? yeah, didn't make since to me.
I'll just take my $$ and go to Hanna's.
Not a fan of Dippin Dots, but kids do love them. A couple of years ago, we were given a sample of frozen fruit dots. They were selling peach or strawberry! YUUUUMMMY! Are they still there? I know they were sold prepackaged, but I haven't really looked for them in recent visits.
I never thought Dippin' Dots were worth the money. Now Hannah's is incredible. I love me some homemade blackberry ice cream. That is one of my mandatory purchases every time I'm on park!
I've never really been a fan of Dippin Dots...thought they were sort of a gimmick. I can see why kids would love the novelty of it. I'd be happy to see them leave SDC, but I'd hate to see the company go under all together, I'm sure that would be a major headache for the people who own the franchises.
I don't mind if they leave SDC, but Dip N' Dots is a big money maker for the marching festival we have in Sullivan every year. I'll be sad to see that part of it go because the music program at the high school has to fend for themselves and Dip N' Dots helped out a lot.
;D Na na na na - hey hey hey gooddbye ;D
Glad DippinDots are gone. Hannas ice cream is wonderful!
^Are they actually gone? Just because the company is going through bankruptcy doesn't mean they'll leave the park, though they might have already for all I know.
I'd like to understand the relationship the City has with them contractually. If they are still there, the "rent" to have a space inside the City is probably pretty high. Possibly not a cost worth keeping if the have filed for bankruptcy.
thats true too beta,
But is rent based on the spot,
OR maybe based on the sales?
OR maybe both? ???
I always thought Dippin' Dots received an unnecessarily bad rap. No, it isn't traditional ice cream, but it would work so well with the theme of say Doc Harris at Wildfire.
dippin dots still on site at SDC>.
And would speculate will be there through the end of the year.....
Blue Bunny already makes a similar product to Dippin' Dots. I've seen it in several grocery stores.
Anyone catch the show "Top Secret Recipe" on CMT? The host Todd Wilbur attempts in usually less than a week to copy restaurant recipes such as Domino's Pizza, Cinnabon, Outback Bloomin' Onion, KFC...and this week he will try to copy Dippin Dots. I am interested to see how close he can get to the real thing!
ooooo that sounds like a good show!!! Thanks for the heads up!
A show like that could be just the publicity Dippin' Dots needs to gain an extra boost. The company may be filing for bankruptcy, but their doors aren't closed yet. :)
