Title: New characters!!!
Post by: Joy on April 28, 2008, 09:39:14 PM
I just checked out Terry Sanders' website, and here's a bit of info I found on his front page that might interest ya'll:

I'm thrilled to be the newest member of the 'Image Maker' program at Silver Dollar City! They are allowing me to play multiple roles all over the 1800's park. Some characters like the 'Prison Warden', 'Doc Harris', 'Mr. M. Balmer-the undertaker, & 'Ada Mae' just to name a few!

Hmmm... I wonder if I'll run into any of those characters on Wednesday.

With Terry not going to always be Deputy Tweedle, we could almost play a game of "Spot Terry" and see how many different characters of his we can get pics of and identify. LOL

Very interesting, I'm glad to see them keeping the characters of the park alive.

What is Terry's website?

That is exciting news!  Thanks for the info, Becky!  I'll be sure to look for those characters.  It'll be good to see them roaming the park (hopefully) on a regular basis.  What is the "Image Maker" program?  Is it an ongoing program to find new ways to convey SDC's 1880's theme?  Does anyone know?

I have no idea; I'd never heard of it before. I'm wondering if this program is the reason the Rainmaker is also rumored to be coming back.

I will certainly do so. I'm really excited and I hope that we come across some characters while we're there.

It sounds like we're all planning a trip to Disney!  ;)

For me, it IS like going to Disney. SDC had really become my own personal Disneyland.

^I agree with you, Joy.  SDC is my Disneyland too.  It's so much closer, cheaper, and personable!  ;D

Well, he was the Prison Warden and Doc Harris yesterday. I got pictures; they will be forthcoming in my trip report later today.

The family and I just came back from a trip to SDC and Celebration City.  We ran into one of the characters that Terry Sanders has invented on the way out of the park.  It is especially funny because Terry is from my hometown. He was dressed as, for lack of a better description, a very ugly backwoods hag.  All with snaggly teethe and wild, frizzy hair.  The kids stopped in their tracks to gawk.  The two and one half year old looks at us and exclaims "what happend to her"!  It was hilarious.  It is nice to see the Silver Dollar City get some characters back in the park.

^That's great to hear, it's those kinds of things that really make the park, even more than the big new rides.

Is Terry the only one doing this?  I want the old skits back too.

I'm not sure if Terry is the only one doing this or not.  I have seen him in quite a few different costumes, so he may be all they need. ;D

There is a guy we see quite often in an old derby hat and a long trench coat.  He is one of the friendliest employees in the park.  He always takes the time to talk to the kids, and they love him.  My son who is 2 and a half walked straight up to him and shook his hand while introducing himself.  Pretty big stuff as my son is pretty shy, but the guy is so good with kids I think the kids can sense it.
