Title: Where do you stay when you go to Branson?
Post by: marolinesdad on April 25, 2008, 07:33:25 AM
Where do you all stay when you are in town?  Is there any great deals you need to pass along to the rest of us?

We stay at the Blue Bayou Motor Inn, and we've tried a lot of places.  This is by far the best deal we've found.  Their rates for a two person standard room (which is a comfortable room) are as follows:  Dec. 23-May 15:  $50/night; May 16-Aug. 5:  $60/night; Aug. 6-Dec. 22:  $70/night.  Extra people in the same room are an additional $5/night, as are rollaway beds.  However, kids 12 and under stay free with parents!  ;D  They have an outdoor pool, and a nice glassed-in indoor pool with hot tub.  Their Starvin' Marvin's Restaurant is reasonable with good food.

They are located on 76, but you can take some access roads to get to them so you don't have to fight the 76 traffic to get there.  Here's their website where you can make an online reservation (they also have a phone number listed):  http://www2.bluebayoubranson.com:8080/ (http://www2.bluebayoubranson.com:8080/)

PRICELINE is your friend!

We usually stay at the Howard Johnson by what used be Starlite Theatre or at the Best Western Music City Inn across from Shoji.  We have never paid more than $40 to stay anywhere down there at brand name hotels using Priceline, and that includes peak season

Deer Run Motel is my choice of lodging. I've only ever been there once, but the pricing, the great upkeep, and nearness to SDC will keep me coming back. And when we go camping this summer, we'll probably stay at the Deer Run campground.

We stay at the Windsor Inn. I have no clue why. That is just where we always stay. It has two pools (one with a slide) and it is located right across the street from White Water. It is cheap and the people are very nice.

Last time we were in Brason we stayed at the Comfort Suites I think. We stayed there because we got a free room because we had racked up enough points for it.

I'm also a big fan of the deer run. The few extra dollars I pay to stay there over what I could get elsewhere is made up by the fact that I can get up and walk over to SDC at my leisure. It's the next best thing to SDC having their own hotel.

^I've heard of the Deer Run, but I didn't realize it was so close to SDC.  Might have to check it out, especially if we're only going down to Branson for SDC.
Title: Re: Where do you stay when you go to Branson?

Deer Run is so close that you could pretty much walk to the nearest SDC tram pick-up. In fact, it's so close that you can see Lot L from the parking lot of the motel.

But! Deer Run has its own shuttle bus that runs on a regular schedule and takes you straight to the entrance.

Last year was when I stayed at the Deer Run; it was early April, when it was FREEZING outside. When we got there, we found that not only was our room very clean and nice, but the maid had already turned on the heater so that we were greeted with a nice cozily warm room.

We only stayed one night, so we just took our car and parked at the SDC lot, but we did see the bus sitting out there in front of the motel waiting for any passengers, and this was before the park opened. So you can take their shuttle bus and be there just about as early as the gates open.

Deer Run also had a campground, so for warmer days, you can camp out and only spend around $14 a night. That's what we plan to do this summer.

We always stay in Indian Point at the Golden Arrow. Amazing atmosphere and you drive by SDC on the way to the rooms. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen and living room for 90 bucks.

As I have said before my family and I stay at the Branson Motor Court.  http://bransonmotorcourt.com/ (http://bransonmotorcourt.com/)  They have clean rooms and is locally owned.  The rates there are $40 per night after taxes.  That is for a room with 2 beds.  They have a nice outdoor pool.  (I for one like the pool to be outdoors.)  It is located in downtown Branson walking distance to Branson Landing and all of the stors in downtown like Dicks 5-10 and the fudge shop.  We stay there at least 8 times a year when we travel to branson.  We have already stayed there 3 times this year.  I probably will always stay here.  We have tried newer and chain motels and and we just keep going back here.

There's also a nice cabin resort in Rockaway that we've stayed at a few times. The prices are good, and the owners are really nice.

We stay at the Notch Estates Nightly Rentals Condos. @ bedroom/2 bath Condo Just a mile  past SDC on 76 and behind the Notch Inn.  It is quiet.  Has two outdoor pools. It cost $130.00 a night ( which is what you would pay for 2 rooms in a good motel for a family of 5-6). You have a kitchen to save on meals if you like and the Branson West Wal-Mart supercenter is only a mile away.  Coming from Springfield, the Ozark Mt. Highroad makes getting to it great by avoiding all the traffic in Branson. The Condos are well kept up, the surrounding countryside view from your deck it great ( see different wildlife on each visit).  They even have a onsite launderymat if you need it. They decorate the building during the Christmas season.   And if the Indian Ridge waterpark/ golf coarse is completed, it will be a half mile down the road.  These condos sit on the ridge above the Ledgestone golf coarse.

I stayed there in '98, when it was fairly new. I was very disappointed that the hot tub was out of order (I needed a soak!), but the boys (3 & 7) and I enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool.

The last two times we've been we've stayed at the Green Gables Inn on Green Mountain Drive (behind the Andy Williams theater).  We've paid $45 each time (but that was a special that runs only through May 14...after then I think it goes to just over $50).  The rooms are very clean and the staff is great.  It's also away from traffic, which is a plus.

Anyone know of any campgrounds that are reasonable in the area, I just need a tent site with out all the hook-ups and whatcha-ma-dingys. The cheapest I've found is at table rock state park which is $11. And I like the wilderness with the shuttle and all, but even with a season pass discount it's like $16...for a piece of dirt with a picnic table. Any ideas?

I wonder if the asking price for that property is too high, as that has been for sale for a long, long time.

I use to stay at the Old Shepard's Campground and the family really enjoyed it. I believe some church organization had bought it and made a lot of changes. I told my wife I would like to have it as a campground again but like you said, there is now telling what the asking price would be and how much you have to put into it to get it back into a working condition. I attempted to venture to into it one time but the road was so bad I didn't get all the way in.

We had to plan our trip on very short notice. Because of our budget and the size and composition of our group (two parents and three sons, ages 18, 14, 6), I focused on finding a cabin instead of a suite.

I've always enjoyed staying at Kimberling City and avoiding traffic on the strip, so I went with Green Valley Resort (http://www.greenvalleyresort.com/index.html). I wasn't quite sure the rates on their page matched the online reservation system, so I called and made the reservation by phone. As it turned out, they did match, but it was very nice talking with Chieko (chee-AY-koh), the very polite owner(?)/operator.

We were very impressed. The cabin was "period", but modernized, and immaculately clean. The grounds were truly park-like; if you like songbirds and bunnies and ducks coming right up to your doorstep, this is the place for you. We stayed in cabin #7 (one queen bedroom, one bedroom with two twins, and one sleeper sofa). This was conveniently right next to the pool and playground, and most of their cabins surround this same area.

The kitchenette had a full sized refrigerator, full size electric range, compact microwave, and a standard drip coffeemaker. Coffee filters, salt & pepper, a full set of dishes and utensils, and more cookware than we could need were all included. There's a park-style charcoal grill at every cabin, and ours included a scraper/brush, grill spatula, and tongs.

Minor nits: no ice trays in the fridge. There was no remote for the TV, but it was only on for about an hour out of our stay. The shower is tiny. The advertised WiFi is free, but the signal doesn't reach most of the cabins (Chieko leaves the office open, and invited us to come down and use the desk at any time). We actually survived two days without internet by sitting at the picnic table and having conversation! If you have a cantenna or something similar, you might be able to get a signal.

Notes: unless we missed it, none of the neighboring resorts have groceries. One (Boomerang) has a "grocery store" consisting of canned meat and crackers; other than that, it's four miles either direction on Route DD for milk or anything other than vending machine sodas. The Branson West Wal-Mart Supercenter and Country Mart are 15 minutes away. Green Valley does have ice available. I didn't see a price, but the box was unlocked, and Chieko seems to rely heavily on the trust system. There is a laundry room consisting of a single coinop washer and dryer.

The Sho-Me Baseball Camp (http://www.shomebaseball.com/) is right next door, but they weren't in session while we were there. I don't know if having dozens of 8-18 year olds in the neighborhood would change things. As baseball fans, we'd have definitely wandered over to watch if they'd been in session.

Oh, and for budget, the total for two nights, with tax and the extra person charge, was $221 and change. We'd have needed two rooms or a suite at a hotel/motel, so we came out money ahead by renting the cabin. We enjoyed nice home-cooked meals every night, instead of having to eat out, so that's more savings.

I hope to be back there in the fall.

I should not be doing this because our family loves staying here and if to many people know of it............... Indian Point. Hunters Friend.  They have some great condos.  Three bedrooms(king size beds) kitchen, dinning, deck, BBQ, hot tub, TVs in every room, washer dryer.  Do not have to deal with SDC traffic at the start of the day or the end of the day.  Five min TOPS. Season passes can be in the park eating breakfast in 15 from leaving the condo. Use back roads to move around Branson can be downtown in 15 min.  Can get to Green Mountain Drive in 10 min.  Can get to the I-Max in 10 min.  Marina is 3 minutes from the Condo.  Walk down to the lake at night or in the morning.  Swimming pool.  When we go we have my wife, son, son in law, daughter, grand kids(two).  In the summer it is a little pricey but they also have fall and spring deals.  Our family is full of chefs and restaurant people so we can cook better than most of the restaurants in town.  Four miles to Branson West and the market.  Owners are great people.  Great views from the deck.  We always end up staying up all night one night listen to the lake and throwing back a few cold ones.  Last visit a thunderstorm rolled in about 3 A.M. what great sounds echoing in the hills and across the lake.

Love to stay at Still Waters with the kids.
Tree House Condos with the wife.
Grand Victorian nice rooms on 76

I'm in Branson right now surfing from Deer Run. I'm glad they got wireless, I wasn't expecting it.

Overall Deer Run is still pretty nice and a good deal, but there is one little problem with the people it attracts. There's a large group of people crowding the center balcony area with lawn chairs laughing and whooping it up as loud as they can. Can't hear them from my room though.
Also, my door doesn't seem to have a proper lock.  :(

We stayed at Deer Run years ago and found it to infested with brown recluse spiders.  Never returned.

(Hope you read this when you get back - it could keep some people up at night.)

I stayed at Deer Run, oh, I think it was 2007, in March. So if there were any spiders, they must've been hibernating or dead (that was the year we were having record lows long into March/April), 'cause I didn't see any.

Wouldn't mind staying there again, but of course now that I'm living in Springfield, I'll probably not be having to spend the night in Branson anymore (except for occasions when all my girlfriends come down for a girls weekend and we get a cabin for us all).

We stayed at Deer Run twice last December.  We really liked it for the location.  We were able to walk by those in line for their tram to their parked car straight to our bus to the motel.  It was like "front of the line" for trams!  One evening, my husband and I even left my daughter with my MIL so we could spend the last hour of park time just walking through the park.  This is after we'd been in the park for hours earlier.  We hopped a SDC bus at L parking lot and were at the gate in a jiffy.  We nearly had the park to ourselves.  We just strolled along with our hot chocolates.  (This is probably why the park won't be open until 11:00 on Saturdays this year.)  We booked the two-bedroom suite for one stay last year.  It has a full size fridge that we loaded up with drinks and a few snacks.  We made hot chocolate in the room, too.

We will stay there again this November in a two-bedroom suite.  It's not the fanciest place in Branson, but I love the transportation perks for the price.  We really don't spend very long in the motel room whenever we visit Branson.

I didn't notice any creepy critters of any kind, but as a pp said, we've only stayed here in the winter.

We've also stayed at:

The Dutton Inn (not bad with coupon, but no pool)
Whispering Hills (great breakfast and cobbler and ice cream at night--free; outdoor pool only)
Angel Inn (indoor pool and hot tub)
Southern Oaks (indoor pool and hot tub)
Green Mountain Inn (ok for the price)
Camped at Compton Ridge

We stay there (Stonewall) almost every time we visit Branson.  It's inexpensive and I love the location.  You can walk to Branson Landing and there's a grocery store right across the street for all your late-night snack needs.  I think they're only open seasonally, however.

The rooms aren't huge, but you can sit outside in the evenings under the huge shade trees in front of the house and by the pool and just enjoy the Ozark air.  When our extended family all goes together each July, we stay here and have a great time.

The rooms are always clean and the breakfast is good too.

The Ramada by Dixie Stampede is a great value.  The free hot breakfast buffet alone is worth staying there again.

Avoid Econo Lodge behind Grand Palace.  The Residence Inn down there is nice.  Radisson is amazing there near Grand Palace.  HoJo near Starlight is fine, but breakfast could use help.  Best Western near Soji is nice, the breakfast area is really small.  Days Inn behind Jim Stafford / Duttons is a dump.  The Fairfield near Walgreens is very nice.  The Orange Blossom Inn near Soji is ok - grandparents like to stay there.

We normally stay at Whispering Hills. I didn't go this summer since CC, my favorite, was gone. WH has great service and great people...after a somewhat late night at CC, we missed the cobbler/ice cream/cookies/etc. window by around 15 min, but they let us have at it anyway. The rooms might not be the best decorated, but it is just a great place to stay. And if you take a Branson vacation correctly, you're not gonna stare at the hotel decorations that much anyway. ;) I'm just not a coaster fan, so I don't appreciate SDC much...it just ends up hurting my ankles in the end.

When I lived in Branson, late 70's to mid 80's, I would recommend any motel or hotel. Some were old mom and pop owned placed that were not the most modern, but they were clean, and quiet, and you could have a nice stay just about anywhere. Over the course of the 90's and into this decade, I cannot say the same...the mom and pop places are having such trouble competing with the big boys owned by corporations that the locally owned places are getting very run down, even dirty, from my experience. But they just can't help it. If there is no money coming in, they can't keep up their place. I would recomend the Grand Palace Inn, Raddison, or on the high price end, the Hilton downtown.

We've stayed at some of the mom-and-pop establishments.  Compared to the chains, I actually like them better.  You can have a conversation with the owners, go to directly to them if you have a concern, and in some cases, admire the pride they take in the operation.  I have loved staying at the Stonewall Motor Court near downtown.  For someone who loves stepping back into the 1880s of SDC, staying at SMC is like going back to the 1950-1960s.  The rooms are a little dated and the bathrooms on the small side, but the service and treatment is second-to-none.  We would stay there all the time if they weren't seasonal (mid-April to mid-December).  We've also stayed at Green Gables Inn (which I also love) and Gretna Inn (which is OK...very friendly, but lacking compared to SMC and GGI).

I do wish, though, that I could've been around to see some of the family-run hotels/motels in their heyday.

The Southern Inn and Golden Arrow owners are such great people and very accommodating. We have enjoyed our experiences at these establishments. We keep going back because of the prices, the ambiance and the owners. It's so nice to stay in Indian Point when going to the city because it can be such a nightmare getting to the city from Branson. We've seen it backed up all the way down the hill toward Branson.

I stay at the notch condos but if you want to be near the strip  stay at the Mountain Music Inn.  It's behaind the Days Inn off Green Mountain Drive. They have regular motel rooms in one bulilding and in the other building  they have more modern rooms and whirlpool rooms. This building also has a large indoor pool and whirlpool. They served a continential breakfast of ceral and muffins when I last stayed there. It is Just two blocks from white water and CC.

When I was a kid back in the day, we used to ALWAYS stay at "The Pine's Inn" which is located just off 76 on 265 south.  Today it is called "Stoneybrook Inn" I believe.  If you wanna step back in time, stay there.  Mom & Pop owned and it is clean, but they don't even have phones in the room!  They kind of have TV, but it's a little "snowy"...LOL.  BUT, it's exactly the way I remember it back in the '70s.  It's still VERY quiet and only a short jaunt to SDC.  I remember as a kid hearing the train whistle and going out of my mind waiting to go.  We seemed to always spend the first day of our trip doing SOTH and letting the moms and sisters shop in Branson....all I wanted to do was go to SDC!!!!!  Now that I think of it....that was pretty cruel what they were doing! LOL

But just like what's already been said here, if you are doing it right, a motel room is just a place to shower and sleep.  Well, that's what you get at "the old pine's inn".

Stayed at Lynina Inn for years.  Became very good friends with the owners.  They would always call around the time that we would visit every month to ask if we needed our same rooms.  Unfortunately the decided to get out of the business and the new owners just aren't the same..they now run a putt-putt golf course.  Less stressfull and gives them more free time they say.

Have been staying at the Peach Tree Inn....very nice...clean rooms.. and great convenient location.

This year will be staying at Deer Run near SDC.  Plan on making a number of trips this year just for SDC, so this location should be great.

Speaking of the Wilderness...has anyone ever stayed in the cabins there, and is it a good experience? I've wanted to do so, but the price has held me back.  I can say this...College of the Ozarks has a limited number of rooms. They have a hotel management course of study, and operate in two buildings on campus. Traditional hotel rooms are located on the top floor of their student center building, and the huge log building at their entrance gate has several large, and expensive suites...but they really look nice in the brochure. The rooms are well maintained, the setting is very private and very, very quiet. My wife and I stayed in the traditional hotel rooms above the student center. Some of the furniture in the room was made by students in their woodworking shops. Very, very, nice. Reasonable price. No pool, but the views of campus are good. Plus, I HIGHLY reccomend eating in their dining hall located in the big log building at the campus entrance. The Sunday brunch cannot be beat, anywhere. The students in the food service course of study handle the dining hall. Dress nicely. It's conservative there on campus. Don't hold a kegger in your room...they will toss you out in a second. I'm a former student there, and it was nice to go back to campus and have a place to stay off the strip. Still close enough to everything we wanted to see and do around Branson. Visit the Ralph Foster Museum, Edwards Mill, and the Star School while on campus.

We stayed in the original cabin before the new cabins were built, and we loved it.  I think it was for our anniversary in December.  The cabin was decorated for Christmas, and we awoke to snow on the ground.  It was beautiful.  The only problem was that the cabin did not have a bathroom, but we loved it anyway.

Other than staying with family, I have been tempted to become a squatter @ Wal Mart after a few late night drives. Who wants to pay $$ for a room you'll only use for 6 hours! I did choose a hot shower and a bed at the riverboat for $35 last year. I am hard pressed to spend more that $60 a night even if I am staying ALL night! We are bargain hunters, and as soon as our property is done, (whenever that darned economy comes back) we will be free of the reservations! If only we could pitch a tent out on table rock where the land is, I'd be there even more!

We have stayed several times at the Old Southern Inn.  Joe and Carol Reimer, who own the place, are so nice, the rooms are always clean and well kept up, and the rates are extremely reasonable.  However, for our trip in June we wanted a little more room, since we're going with my brother's family, so we went with the Tribesman Resort on Indian Point just 2 miles down the road from SDC.  It appears to have great reviews, but I'm asking you SDC fans if anybody has stayed there before, and if so is there anything special we should know?

Tribesman has been on Indian Point for decades. It used to be a family owned and operated place. I'm not up to date on what's happening there, but it always did well in the past from a business standpoint, and I've never heard anything negative about it. Report back to us after your trip and tell us how  you liked it.

Sometimes I think that I have stayed at almost every place in Branson.  It's kinda sad to see that that some of them are coming down.  I've have some fond memories of staying at Ben's Wishing Well many years ago.

Anyway..I've stayed at Deer Run for convenience to the park during Anniversary Weekend.  Very basic, but also clean and convenient.  I usually stay at the Orange Blossom Inn on SOTH Expressway.  Also basic, but clean and close to the byways so getting around town is easy.  Greend Gables and Lynina Inn are also nice.  I tend to stay from the chains.  I like local flavor of the family owed motels when I visit.

bjthomas, glad to hear you try to stay away from chains when staying at motels/hotels. The family owned places are often better value for a good basic room. (Orange Blossom, Greenbrier, so on) Gotta admit, after staying at several motels owned/operated by recent immigrants to Branson and the USA, we splurged and spent a night at the Grand Palace Hotel. Had a balcony off the second floor room that overlooked the pool. Clean, nice, quiet, close to the action on Hwy 76. Well worth the extra bucks.

We stay at the Honeysuckle on the west end of town. Love the location. rates are competitive, rooms are always clean. nice parking, breakfast bar.  the help is always clean and professional AND they all speak fluent english.  ;)  I am also very tired of the immigrant owned/service at most of the motels in this country!  :)

We used to stay at the Settle Inn (looks like a castle) on Green Mountain Drive.  The rooms were always nice and clean.  Then we discovered Deer Run.  We stay there all the time now.  If all you are wanting to do is go to SDC.  You can't really beat Deer Run for its convenience and close proximity.

We usually stay at Rosebud Inn.  Since we have been going to long we are given a discount.  I like the location because you have easy access to the 76 strip it is near the new side road that brings to the intersection by Wal Mart or you can go the other way and hit the intersection with Shepherd of the Expressway.  You have numerous roads to choose from and alot less traffic.

Breakfast is always good and the owners are from Kentucky.  Very nice people and staff and the rooms are always cleaned in a timely manner.

I usually spend more time on this site absorbing info, and don't have much chance to contribute, but this is one topic I do have some experience on...  There were a few people in previous posts who mentioned the tribesman on indian point.  My family has been staying there since the 80's and we get back at least 1-2 times per year.  They are family owned, friendly, have a huge range of room types, are very close to SDC and their property is simply massive.  One of the things I like most is that they have mostly cabins or multi bedroom homes and they don't have any huge modern condos.  They are very close to the water and they have put an emphasis on building new units without disrupting the trees and wilderness.  If you are looking for a hotel room for two then you will likely get a better discount near the strip (I hear the eagle's lodge/homestay is good), but my family doesn't eat out much except in the park, so we were always looking for a place that was "home base" with a full kitchen and quite a few bedrooms for all the people.  Some of their buildings were built in the 70's & 80's (I'm guessing) as well as their newest units that were built within the last 5 years.  Even the older ones are clean, but the styling of some can be a bit dated.  They have a ton of family friendly events (campfires, many pools, trails, boats, fishing, game room, etc.) and are just a very short drive from SDC- us kids loved the fact that if someone in the group didn't want to stay at SDC (like a little one who needed a nap) the tribesman was close enough to run "home" drop a few people off and be back at SDC in no time flat.  We first stayed at tribesman on a whim- it was one of the first Ozark mt christmas'...we normally stayed at winged eagle but they were open seasonally at the time and Tribesman is open year-round. My family always wanted to stay somewhere that was close to SDC and the lake (we don't do any shows or even get on the strip) and this place fit the bill perfectly.  Their prices seem a little high at first, but keep in mind how many people can sleep in their buildings (we usually rented a three bedroom/two bath) and for our big group it was usually cheaper to rent a house then try to get three adjoining hotel rooms.  We've stayed other places- When we have our pets with us we stay at White Wing Resort (Tribesman is not pet friendly), WWR does a nice job, the owners are nice, but the grounds aren't as big as tribesman.  If you've never stayed on indian point and you are going to branson just to visit SCD, I strongly recommend the Tribesman, they've treated us well for many, many years.

Tribesman Resort has been there for years...maybe going back to the 50s or 60s...but for sure there since the 70s. You're right, family owned, well maintained, and a large, expansive property. They bought property long ago when it was still affordable. Glad your stays are nice for all.

I won't name the place, but we have only had ONE bad experience with lodging in Branson. We stayed at some cabins close to SDC (not right next but close) it was a place I normally wouldn't stay cause the location wasn't my favorite (there's better closer places to SDC). But, we stayed there cause my mom was staying at a place close to that one. She was going to be camping in a trailer, but I was pregnant and we didn't have a trailer, and I didn't feel like sleeping on the ground at 8 months pregnant. So we stayed in these one cabins and it was awful. The cabins them selves were ok, but the owners not so much. I have a big feeling if we had been a ALL white family it may of been ok, but because we are inter-racial with many different ethnic adopted children I have a feeling that was the owners problem (the only experience like this I have ever had in branson, and I've been going there nearly 40 years!). As soon as I checked in, when my husband came in the owner let out a large sigh and said this is why we shouldn't allow pay in advance! (we always pay for our whole stay in advance - usually a year in advance so I don't have to worry about the cost later on). Then they said my husband couldn't be in the pool (although other people were allowed......). Then they would come in our room while we were gone and take every thing out of the fridge and freezer and leave it on the table! And say it was because they cleaned the fridge/freezer for us......um, then why not put our stuff back, so it didn't rot? Came back to food that had been left out all day, ice cream melted every where, all kinds of just craziness! I won't name the cabin place, but we won't go back there again! Other then that that has been our one and only bad stay!

We used to a loooooooooong time ago (like the 80's) stayed at Melody Inn, it was cheap, and they let us tie our dogs up to the trees in the back!

The first year I went with my husband we stayed at Susanne's or something like that, over by the outlets. It had a great breakfast, and was only like 35 dollars a night!

Other then that we usually stay at the Wilderness, or Barvarian Village. Love both of them. Barvarian Village will usually give you a good discount if staying there for long and you talk to them. The owners are extra nice, and we always get along well with them. I have a VERY large family. And they are real nice about it. And always very helpful, etc. One night my dd threw up during the night, and I can't remember why we wouldn't wait till morning, but for some reason we couldn't. I hated to do it, but I sent my husband up to the office and we asked them for extra bedding to change the sheets from such and they weren't upset or nothing. Even though we had to wake them up for that and it was really really late. They always have pretty good deals for us as well which always helps.

I have always wanted to stay at the cabins at the Wilderness just haven't had the money or the op, (the year we stayed at the bad cabins I had actually wanted to stay at the SDC cabins, but they were booked or something, can't remember, but UHG!) Then another year I wanted to stay at the SDC cabins they over booked, and didn't have the price ones I wanted left, and they were going to give me the one up grade from that for the same price as the cheaper ones! But, something happened that year where we didn't have to money to do it in the end, so ended up camping there instead. UHG, just never has worked out for us yet! But, some day, we will! Even if it's just for a anniversary gift for me and hubby. However, if we ever win the lottery that will be our place! lol haha

Mainly Bavarian Village doesn't give a lot of extras, but they are cheap and the people are nice, and they are on the lake! And being almost directly behind SDC helps a ton as well!
Title: Re: Where do you stay when you go to Branson?
Post by: sanddunerider on September 09, 2011, 07:10:26 AM
Bavarian Village has always been economical and close, I have stayed there several times during the years. If I were to bring several people and decided to cook and eat in, I would no doubt stay there again.

With only 2 or 3 of us at this point, and the fact that we do shows in branson, The Homestay Inn makes us a great deal!

Title: Re: Where do you stay when you go to Branson?
Post by: MagnoliaWhisper on September 09, 2011, 05:40:53 PM
yeah if I had a smaller family and only staying a day or two in town may be better. Staying longer like a week the Village is good. We've even just stayed there with a few of us the "motel" rooms as they call them are also really cheap, but if you are going to branson for shows and what not a lot then not as good a place, it's mainly a good place if you want on the lake and easy access for SDC and cheap, and like you said to be able to eat in.

One thing I wanted to add, I know I said the owners were nice, but I mean they are just so extra nice. When we stayed in the "motel" rooms they don't have ovens, and the owner noticed we had 2 kids, and so he told my husband while we were there if we needed a oven to come up to the office and he and his wife would let us use the oven in their home! I couldn't believe it. I knew that trip I wasn't going to cook anything in a oven though, I was preggers again, and with other littles I wasn't going to do it. lol But, I thought how sweet. The owner almost every day (my husband would go up to the office for little somethings usually, towels, fresh bedding etc) would have really nice conversations with my husband as well. Talking about what we had done on the vacation thus far, any good restaurants that we had found, etc. And well it just meant a lot to us, to have such cheery and nice owners. That's what I miss about a lot of branson that used to be there once, and is slowly not being so, as much as it once was.

I love Indian Point . That is where every summer of my life has been spent for nearly 30 years. We began staying at White Wing Resort in the very early 80's. It is down Indian Point about 2-3 miles from SDC. Not to far, as I have walked to SDC before on several occasions. It is in a great location on the lake, out of the traffic towards the end of Table Rock. The family that runs the place is amazing. For a lakefront resort, it does not get much more relaxing than this. Again, I am a bit partial since other than my childhood home, this is the other place that I have spent more time growing up than anywhere. I remember my first taste of SDC, catching my first fish, pulling my front tooth (and the following night pulling the other!) and even being a part of the growth there by appearing in their brochures one season.

In 2004, 2005, and 2006 we stayed at the Wyndham Meadows Condos, a few minutes south of the business district of Branson. We skipped our 2007 trip to Branson that year, and the next year (2008) we we stayed at Thousand Hills Condos. We're finally going back to Branson for a week this summer and returning to our original condos- Wyndham Meadows.

It's nice to go back to the place we originally started our Branson visits. My childhood is wrapped up in these condos and I can't wait to go back. :)

For the past year we have been staying at HomeStay Inn, thanks to Paige & Cherie and their wonderful discount. We love the Hospitality, the clean rooms, the location, & the fact they accept pets.
Growing up, my parents & I tried out a lot of different Hotels in Branson. Our go-to Hotel was typically the Honeysuckle Inn.
Another favorite of ours has been The Bradford Inn. It's family owned and opperated. Each room has its own theme. The owner fixes an AMAZING breakfast every moring in a beautiful 2 story breakfast room / hearth room. The view is nice, it sits on hwy 265 and overlooks the 76 strip / former Celebration City property. Check out their website

My parents usually stay at the Comfort Inn/Suites at Branson Meadows when they stay in Branson, too.

We finally have our own condo, but before that our "go-to" was Tribesman Resort on Indian Point.  Before Vickery's Resort was torn down and they went "condo" we stayed there. In fact, we stayed there on our honeymoon years ago.  :)  I love the old, dated (but squeaky clean) lake resorts.  When I was growing up, my grandparents had a home on a five acre lake lot a couple coves over from Indian Point. Being the "favorite" grandchild, I spent many summers on the lake with my grandparents.  Coming to Branson is like "coming home" to me.  Why our family, let them sell it outside the family is beyond me! What I wouldn't give to have that back!!  I still make the hubs boat into that cove so I can look at the boat dock (which is still there but in poor condition) and up the hill at the house. Sigh...
