Title: Dollywood TR
Post by: Colby Cox on July 23, 2011, 10:03:02 PM
Shared this at SGW and realized that you people might want to see it too

On Monday I was at Dollywood, and I had a great day. I have some pictures that didn't save to my memory card for some reason, and right now I am trying to beat them out of my camera  :P Anyways, I thought I might as well show you guys the pictures that did save on the card, and if I can get the rest, which is mostly stuff around the entrance, I will post that later.
The first ride we rode was Blazing Fury, which is almost exactly the same as Fire in the Hole at SDC except for theming.

Tennessee Tornado was the next ride along on the path,
(http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm122/wacky422/100_2924.jpg)
and I was kinda nervous that it would be rough.
Still, it's a roller coaster, and I'm me, so I rode it
(http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm122/wacky422/100_2926.jpg)
and I was glad I did. It's not that rough, and it's a pretty forcefull ride. Plus, that first drop in the tunnel really packed a punch!
I wouldn't pay to go on this, but it looked pretty cool. I think that it was new a couple of years ago, and people seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. It was never empte, and I'm sure Dollywood is raking in the dough with rides like these.
And I could see Mystery Mine from there!
But it was closed for technical difficulties.
And it stayed closed for the morning, making me nervous...
Still, it looks cool, trains or no.
This bird was taunting me, I swear!
But we went to go get us some GCI love...
That pretty much sums it up...
SMILE!
This huge turn takes you and drops you into the station!
People floating out of their seats.
Then, I rode the train. See that speck of blue? That's the new B&M track!!
And you can see Thunderhead!
I've got a golden ticket...
Path by the Grist Mill, from the train. (BTW, if you ever g to Dollywood, get Cinnamon bread from the Grist mill!  )
Barnstormer, new this year,
(http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm122/wacky422/100_2945.jpg)
A huge swing from S&S.
But we passed, cuz SDC has one, and we ride it all the time.
This fountain near the entrance was cool!
I remember riding those when I was younger...
This log ride was awesome! It had bigger logs than the usual ones, reminding us of Splash Mountain.
We went back, and MM had trains on it! It turned out to be my favorite ride in the park, with two vertical lifts and a 95 degree drop. I loved it! I ended up riding it twice.
And I'll leave you with this picture of the valley that Thunderhead sits in.
Thanks for reading!

Glad you had a great time!  I did some work with Disney at Dollywood for the Golden Tickets in 2007 and was able to walk through Mystery Mine.  Here are a few pictures (nothing too revealing)....but the walk through was awesome!

I ate at a place called Apple Jack's Sandwiches, and it was pretty good, but I'm sure there's better food in the park. Their food seemed to be in line with SDC. I do recomend the cinnamon bread that they sell at the grist mill, and probably elsewhere, though! It was delicious.

Those are cool. I loved Mystery Mine, especially that I didn't really know what was coming next!

Glad you all like the report.
