Just picked up the May/June edition of "The Ozarks Mountaineer" magazine, and it has a great article with several old photos about the Lynch Sisters/Mary Herschend/Rose O'Neill. The four women had a strong friendship, and each loved history, art, music, poetry, and were good business women. The article talks about the early days at Marvell Cave and goes into detail about the friendship the women had with one another. Interesting note: The Lynch sisters and O'Neill only lived 12 miles apart, but had to rely on the mail service to keep up their friendship because the roads were not well developed, and it would take too long to go visit in person all the time. The story is part one of two parts, with the second part to be published in the July/Aug. edition. The next edition will also carry a long, indepth article on the history of Marvell Cave. I invite you to pick up a copy of "The Ozarks Mountaineer." You can get a glimpse of the magazine and what is in the issue by checking out the magazine web site:

The second part of the article about the Lynch sister, Mary Herschend, and Rose O'Neill is in the July/Aug edition of the Ozarks Mountaineer magazine, several great pictures, and the conclusion to this two part story on their friendship. Well worth reading, if you can pick up a copy. Also in this edition of the magazine, an article on Marvel Cave. It's pretty good, too.
