Title: 50th Anniversary left overs
Post by: Junior on March 18, 2011, 03:32:33 PM
While on park on opening day, 2011, I made a concentrated effort to look for left over 50th Anniversary merchandise. I found a small section in the Hospitality House with items marked 50% off. So if you are on park in the next week or so I would suggest picking up the left overs you are interested in....some t-shirts, ball caps, pens, pencils, magnets, and other small items. I was very disappointed that none of the three different versions of the anniversary book/booklet were available. I had the little one that was published in Missouri Life magazine, but there apparently was a different version sold in shops, and an employees version. Sad. I did find a little four page color foldout in the inspirational art shop (old pottery shop) next to the treehouse of the 50th anniversary painting by a Webb City, Missouri artist, Jack Dawson. I purchased that for the regular price of $5. (I really wanted a copy of that painting, so I paid the $5, but really the little fold out with the painting on it was not worth paying more than $3 bucks for. Oh well, I paid it and got what I wanted.)

I picked up a 50th anniversary book there last weekend. Not sure if it's one of the ones you want Junior, it's basically a hardback coffee table book with a lot of pictures submitted by park guests and staff including some from you. It was the first time I had seen it, it was on the counter at checkout in the OM. (I think that's right, it's the store the cave tour ends in). I always go back and look at the clearance when I'm there also and just happened to catch that as I was checking out.

Sorry I didn't make that real clear. The book was on the counter by the register. I went in there to look at the clearance and ended up buying something, which led me to the book. Had I not made a purchase, I would not have seen it.

They've got several copies of the special 50th Anniv. coffee table book at the Barnes & Noble at Glenstone & Battlefield in Springfield.

The coffee table book available at the Hospitality House is the general release edition. I do have that one. Apparently, there were two other editions, one for employees...which I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE if anyone has an extra copy. The other edition, seems like it was a limited edition that had some alternate photos and so on. I would love to have that one, too if anyone has a copy to spare. I will be glad to pay for them. Anyway, hope you like the general edition version still available, and hope you like the photo I submitted of the diving bell crew from 1983. One note, they got the town I live in WRONG...I have never lived in Springfield, I reside in Pea Ridge, AR. I noticed a few other editorial mistakes in the general edition, but overall it is pretty good.

They still have 50th anniversary candles at Carrie's Candles for 50% off. Quite a few as of a couple of weeks ago.

I also saw the 50th anniversary candles in the candle shop during my visit a few weeks ago.  I saw they were 50% and that made me glad I bought mine at the end of last year when they were 75% off.
