It's our fourth year with this game, and we have yet to run out of stumpers.
Get ready for a season full of NEW surprises.
You can look at the last three seasons of the game to see it in action:

It's
still the most popular board on the forum. I will post a picture of an item, a sign, or a portion of such. The first person to correctly identify its location in the park gets a point.

Oh rube!! your a funny man!!, I am hoping to make a better showing than last year. ;D
Hopefully I get more than one this year. ???

And let's go folks!
#1!!!
The fence on the way to Echo Hollow.
(Sorry folks, I am throwing and seeing if it sticks :-\ ??? ;)) Remember, I have been there two times in 32 years. :o
Near the entrance to the flooded mine?
fencing by lost river..?
Half Dollar Holler
All I know is.....I am tied for 1st Place right now!!! :P
The RFPH
riverblast..?
geyser gulch
Wilsons Farm back by the Hi lo silo.
Fence on the way to Wildfire...
It's still a tie...Zero-all...keep the guesses coming!
Barn in the homestead area
Tom Sawyers Landing
Riverfront playhouse.
Near the wax hand stand.........get it handstand!!! lololol.....but seriously I have to say it is somewhere round the was hand stand in tom sawyers landing....
Fencing at Thunderation?
Still not there yet...maybe I should have had a warmup round! keep a guessing for now , one more day until a hint...
Boatworks
At Geyser Gulch
River Blast
You guys so funny.... ;) I've taken too many pictures of said fence, so I'm taking a backseat...
Why didn't I think to say that?
fencing by electrospin..?
The train
At the entrance.
Very nice of you TinMan! And HB gets this one. It is the side of the Boatworks Theater facing theToy Shop/ Geyser Gulch.

too little too late, i found it today while i was there.
Everybody stand back while my head expands! This will be the only time I get to say this:
I'M NUMBER ONE! YEA ME!
Worst case scenario you miss the next one...and you are tied for 1'st! It'll last a bit longer for ya!
I thought of that, but for now, I'm not sharing my title.
I picked up a couple of shots, this week, but not many. I offer this one next to give Mr. Dugan a little break in the 2K cabin sauna room.

Thanks there HB I haven't been able to get on in days, with PT conferences this week.
I Know! I Know! Its an air conditioner!!!!!! ;D
thank you, thank you very much!
^^You're right about that SDR, but the game is called Where in the City?, not What in the City?
^I thought something like that, RD. I just have three pictures I can use. Feel free to make your own guesses if you want.
This is easy its outside by a that one building!! ;D really though is it by the HH?
details! detail! LOL. fine, behind the general store
dad-gummit, have no clue..
It's a bit challenging, but there are clues in the picture. I did have to hold the camera up to take the shot. As you might suspect, the unit is hidden from regular public view.
Behind the GE?????
how about in the area of the candy store (not taffy shop) and the funnel cakes. Across from the blacksmith.?
Maybe????
The brick work looks close to the Hospitality House...otherwise I would guess by the Glassblower
Keep tryin'.
The Homestead?
i wondered wiht the fence and rock if it was up front by the entrance. Not sure of the name of the building, but it is where you upgrade your tickets..
I cant figure out what the wooden boxes are.. I am sure they are a clue, but cant place them.
As much as I wanted to hold my big lead, I must admit, you are now tied with me. This is the unit that kept that old cabin cool back in the day. I guess the pickers have to keep their instruments cool between gigs. The air conditioner is in the back of the homestead cabin, behind a fence. You can see the log cabin on the left and right, separated by the rock fireplace.

And now, since it's a weekend and I have time, I'll throw out #3 (The next two are relatively easy for this game.):
I will post some this week, once your few are complete, and I will be at the City this weekend, so I will replenish for the 2011 season. I will let this one go to someone else...keep the game entertaining!
The grand exposition area....I thought it was on the fencing across from the Red/Gold Hall/Lady Liberty Dining...in the picture it looks like it is on a wall of the building
Happy Frogs area
entry way at red gold
^^^Nope
^^Nope
^Nope
Hallway/entry to restrooms.
is it behing the grand exposition coaster.
I could be convinced to give cocodane3 a half-point, but the other half-point could still be earned with a more specific answer.
In the measuring station by the coaster in the grand exposition?
i would appreciate a half point considering it would be the only point or partial point all season. But hopefully not ;)
There is a similar sign close by the frogs and butterflies, but that's not it. I really don't know where that one is other than being somewhere at GE.
Is this sign in a employee/ backstage area or actually "on - park"?
??? ??? ???

This is inside the measuring station along with similar versions of the larger banners beside the rides. It would make a cool kid's bedroom design, decorated with these awesome posters - if only they offered the posters for sale. Hey, how about these being the prizes at some of the games?
Here's #4, the last of the easy ones before RD takes the game back:
raccoon tracks at HDH
I love how the water is on the tracks to help them stand out in the photo... almost as if someone has done that just for the photo...hmmmmmmm I wonder if that is the case!
Reminds be of the wAlkway betom and hucks rb
Sorry for the delay. The school wanted to re-image my laptop, so I backed everything up. When they went to update the computer, it crashed. They put in a new hard drive, and found it did not fix the problem. Now, while they try to figure everything out, I have a loaner. Backing things up at the last minute really pays off.
Anyway, SDR easily picked this one off. But no, RD, I did not drip water into the tracks for effect. I considered removing your point for making such an accusation, but as 2K bros., I just couldn't do it (one more perk to the 2K Club). Now the game is back under your control.

I'll make this one #3.5 Then since I was thinking you posted these tracks... ANyone recognize these?
Tom & Hucks River Blast?
nope
behind mchaffie homestead.
The area around Wilson Farm and TGS?
I'm most certainly way off here, but it would AWESOME if this was around the old Huck Finn Hideaway (Tree fort) area to go along with the Rocky the Raccoon storyline. But the concrete looks to be a new kind of pouring so I'm probably wrong about this.
Nope, RD. Those were the new ones at HDH, so if you have these other ones, I'd say you're officially on #4.
Is it possible that your picture has actual and not fake tracks?
These are real tracks, and are not in the same location as #3. If no one gets it in a day or so I will move onto a new one.
I'm going to guess somewhere near the entrance, maybe around the waterclock area.
I know there are some like that in front of the smoking area behind the pottery building but I do notr know if these are those.
In fact they are those tracks. These are the real animal tracks in between the smoking area in the rear of the pottery shop (the smoking area), and the toy store.

any random drink stand in the park. yes any one of em. perferably of the lemonade variety, but Im not picky!
Is that window at the front of the park at the Season Pass holder entrance? I'm thinking they used to do season pass replacements there and maybe more customer service stuff.
It's the window that was used as the Guest Relations booth. It is on the east side of the Ozark Mark Place, just inside "Mary's Wall". The window hasn't been used in years.
Yes Zalo, and I would love to find out what the other side of the window looks like right about now.

Indeed it is on the telephone. On the day I was in the park last season when there was only a few people in the park (I think it was around 20 people) The man working at the Gen. Store told me to pick up the reciever, he played with some controls behind the counter.-and it had a recorded voice on the other end! Just out of curiosity Mr. Dugans what did the recorded voice have to say, if you remember? I presume it wasn't a hotline to Disneyland or commissioner Gordon from Gotham City (Batman) :).
It was a similar style to the R/R Bucket voice, and Red Flanders voice. It was a discussion between I think a male and female, and I think at one point they yelled at whoever was listening to them. Again it was EMPTY that day, and out of (at that point) 29 yrs coming to the park, I had never been told that the ringing phone was for me! If it is ever not busy, check with the clerk to see if it is still functioning.
Yeah, in the old days phones sometimes were "party lines" where more than one family shared a phone line to save on costs. My grandparents had a phone on a party line in the 1970s for years...until the phone company phased them out. Each house had a special ring, and you were only supposed to pick up if it was your ring. However, often people would pick up and listen to your conversation...and then tell other neighbors later what you and your family were up to. Sometimes, operators would listen in on the lines, too...in small towns. That "party line" idea is the basis for the phone conversation on the general store telephone. I didn't realize it was still around. I'm glad it is. That was one of the special things like the coffin behind Grandfathers Mansion, and the "don't look in this hole" behind the mansion, that made a SDC visit a special thing!
I remember the old party lines... :o :o
OH MAN!! is that an age thing>|??? ::)
My mommy told m about party lines. My friend Casey would want one for sure, she is a gossip hoot!!

There's a bio for Rick Baker on the HFECorp.com website under Corporate Management Team.

My Denver Broncos have a better chance of winning another Super Bowl than I do of getting one of these "Where in the City?" pictures right. Maybe there should be a rookie/beginner and veteran/advanced version of the game. Or better yet maybe there could be versions of the game based on your status: newbie, citizen, lives here, etc. (I'm not sure what all the statuses are). Anyway, based on your status the pictures would be easier or harder to recognize. Just a thought.
* = Newbie 0-49 Post
** = Jr. Citizen 50-99 Post
*** = Citizen 100-249 Post
**** = Post Master 250-499 Post
***** = Lives here 500-Plus Post
Sometimes it is pretty tough to challenge some of the players, but I think different tiers of the game would get pretty difficult to proctor/ administer. Thankfully the game is long, and there are many different skill levels involved. Sometimes if it is an easy one, some of our veterans even opt out of rounds to allow others the ability to play. If I could turn off the email-notification on this thread, I would in order to allow everyone the ability to find the updates as they visit the site. With the time between recent posts, and guesses, you see my reasoning, I don;t like that some people can have email open all day, and others only once a day. I would rather it be luck that the players were on the site at the time the post was updated.
Rube...First off, thanks for getting my post moved to the right thread...not for sure what happened there...Second, thanks for letting me know how many posts are needed for each status level...Third, I completely understand the complications of trying to manage the game based on status...It was just a wild and crazy idea I had for some reason and thought I'd throw it out there...Anyway, I love the game and following where the pictures are...Someday I'll get one...maybe:) One thing for sure, because of this game, I pay more attention to the signage and details of the park when I'm there...It has definitely helped me to see and appreciate more of the park...Keep the pictures coming...Thanks

Wildfire building
And we DO in fact have a winner!!! (I'll take Candy House BTW) This is on the back wall of Brown's Candy Factory on a mirror. I have looked at this many times, and attempted to figure out what it said , and it wasn't until I changed the contrast that I found what tinaalsgirl also found...

This is on the old telephone in the General Store.
One of the first things my son and I did when we got to SDC was to go see this telephone. Can't believe I never saw it before. We picked it up and listened to the different sayings...This is why I love this particular thread...gets me paying more attention to the details of the park while I'm visiting. Just like I'd never noticed the handles on the cabinets in the taffy shop until I saw that picture...
I am glad to bring light to these minor details that SDC offers for theming. For all the info that is Not in Miss Mary's Time, I think these small details are still what helps us forget about some of those overlooked items or details from the park.
More to Come!

Alright thanks to Zephon I have found the item, and I found a photo to cross reference the machine. It is in fact a pneumatic drill. More than likely from the late 19th century, or the first half of the 20th century.
The photos have the images oriented to see the similarities in the two machines.

how about down by RB, where the kids make their hand prints, or hand molds or whatever it is they do there,, LOL
That's what they use to paint the umbrellas.
Chef master is a brand of food coloring commonly used in candy. Since they do not show food coloring at browns I believe it is the taffy shop.

We actually weigh the empty copper kettle (set to zero) and then fill it with the right amount of the corn syrup from the pump and then the sugar, etc.
That scale has been the personal culprit for much weight gain across the country.
I love that peanut and pecan brittle! I think it's time for another trip to the park. :)

nope.
Fence over by Huck Finn's Treehouse. Just past the ghost trap?
actually its not pictures its a model . and it is on the path by bittersweet galleries walking towards jacks sandwich shop .
Parson will get it on the other 1/2. Yes these are infact viewing holes for a "peak" (that's how they spelled it)at the early days of SDC.

This is not Where In The City! But I was curious if anyone has seen this advertisement along the roads in Southwest Missouri? I would only guess early to mid 1970's - and yes it is still as it is in this picture. I took it today on the way back from SDC. I have seen it on several occasions to SDC and back, but just decided today to take a photo. Okay! Question is can anyone guess or know where it is located at? It just might be the oldest roadside advertisement of SDC today.

dont know where its at, but it sure is cool!
Maint area north of the city.
Don't know where it is, but my guess is that the ad is from mid to late 80s. Maybe early 90s.
The roadside advertisement is actually about 4 miles outside of Reeds Spring on 248/413 (left side of road) going toward Galena. It is about 25 feet off the main road.
its near a gas station in branson.

Sorry to confuse you Sanddunerider, or anyone else that might have been. The trailor was just something I see everytime I visit SDC. My first guess would have also been the Market Place, but for the sake of guessing I am going to say the General Store. :)
Sullivan's Mill
the honey store.
Hospitality house
I was going to guess the mill, and I think all the places it could be have already been guessed. I think there's some bottles like that stacked up at the exit to the Mine or Mill restaurants, but it's not that much.
Is it some type of jelly or jam?
I don't think they are stacked up in that picture, to me they seem to be laying flat, in possibly a crate or something. I'm still sticking with Sullivan's Mill.
Though they are sold elsewhere, these orderly items are small jars of preserves that are in a crate at the Apple Butter Shop.

Jack the Butcher Shop.
the knife maker shop. name eludes right now,,,, west side, where johnson makes the knives.
I like how all of the participants in the game dealt with Avalanche accordingly...I wasn't going to say anything except "no, and no!". If one had been right I would have given the ultimatum to choose between either one...regardless Pintrader got this one which is a photo of a stove next to the demonstration area (hence the clay dust Eagle1!). I may have to get a job working at SDC next year... that way maybe i can give pintrader some competition!
Hang in there Sanddunerider! To quote from somebody, "It's not over till it's over". There's a ways to go with a lot of good competition! Somebody just needs to get on a good hot streak. I just hope it's not you! ;) :D
Maybe this one will give somebody a tough time...

Looks like a backstage area normally off limits to guests. My initial guess would be Flooded Mine. Second guess is FITH. Third guess Lost River/diving bell. Fourth guess, maybe Mine Restaurant and fifth guess maybe Springhouse. Let me throw in around the waterfall and maybe around the waterfall that used to be at Grandfather's Mansion. Hard to tell, you are right, this is a tough one!
Good tries Junior, Hmm let's limit the guesses to just one...not that I am saying any are right or wrong...but just to make it fun and fair.
I will throw in some clues as we move along....
wow! rube! what a mess! bottle and trash?
lost river.
inside the box on the spiral tree that goes to the tree house ?
good gravy, i have no clue. my guess is american plunge?
??? Geyser Gulch ???
DANG TOMNCYNDI!!!! YOU SAW THAT TOO? (or did you open the little door to take a peek?) I thought that this would last a bit longer! At the base of the tree on HUck Finn's Hideaway (Herman's Hermits Tree House) there is a little door that was open one afternoon, and I thought I would check it out. It was just about what I would expect, given that it is a concrete tree!

I think you are a bit late to the party. ;)
It is safe to say that I would have never guessed that location. Way to go tomncyndi, I don't know how you did it. ;D
That is my guess for the next picture I was just trying to get a jump on you guys

Hey Tomncyndi I was just kidding about the hot streak. I hope it's not you either ;).
OH MY! In all my years of working on park, I don't remember ever looking in that little room at the treehouse base! I even WORKED AT THE TREEHOUSE, five days a week for about three years...each morning I worked I had to sweep out the treehouse and pick up trash there! GOOD photo, Rube!
Okay, I kind of get the plastic spoons, but are there also broken beer bottles in that photo? How, did they get all the way into the park, and in there? Perhaps they are just Sarsaparilla bottles? :)
I took a few in there, but this was the best one. I at first thought beer bottle as well, but I was thinking it probably was a Sarsaparilla bottle as well.
okay thats it I have an early new years resolution to get a job at SDC just to be at the top of leaderboard next year.
New Year's Resolution??? That's a Lifetime goal for me!

That's because you are in the woods lol
I think Rube can actually identify individual trees in the City. At least I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
Certain trees yes....I think you all are tempting me...Since you like trees!

Thanks, but last year I guessed several of these...but only one this year! Late in the game, too.
congrats pintrader i guess the game is over ...i WILL get you next time ! you will NOT win again ! :o
so junior has the honor of getting the last one of the year correct.. good job everyone..!
That is how it looks Folks!
Congrats to the Winner for 2011: Pintrader 15
I am sorry this fall I was not as active as I would have liked because of work, life, and oh yah, a new baby girl. I am going to take the off season off from the games in order to try to get the hang of juggling life, but I will be picking it up in 2012 with a brand new round with all new photos!
Thanks to all who played!
congrats on the baby girl! that is exciting! start saving now for a home security lock down system, them girls tend to bring in boys! Cant wait to start a new game (and beat out pintrader....the cheat.) Have a happy new year yall and I am looking forward to a whole new seasons worth of fun pictures and reviews!!! :)
Well, maybe those thousands of photos of the City I have taken will come in handy. I've been in delete mode lately to free up space on my laptop, so I think I will save them.
I know the 2012 season hasn't really begun yet, but did anyone catch that the SDC Facebook page was posting a "Where In The City" photo game today? ;D
Yep, I saw that! And...I was wrong - I thought the sign was on the Mine Restaurant wall.
so maybe someone at sdc is watching us!
Yes I saw that and thought---dern copycats :) still cool though!!
Trendsetters, all of us!
Maybe one of us is an sdc undercover spy! Lol
I also saw that.. thought the same thing.................
Wonder who thought that up??? LOL....
Well, I guess that means that I am off the hook for 2012 huh?
Not even close Rube!!
