I wonder if they take requests? This would be great!

Google is extending its Street View website with photographs of off-road destinations that have previously not appeared online - by using specially-adapted tricycles.
Since its launch in 2007, the controversial site has allowed viewers to see images of individual homes, shops, offices and pubs taken by a fleet of cars.
But now the service will let users go beyond public streets and along footpaths and into parks, historical landmarks and gardens.
The novel off-road vehicles will allow Street View to increasingly include images of public and private sites such as Kew Gardens in London, hiking trails in California and Sea World in Orlando, Florida.
Actually they have already done WDW and IOA in Orlando.
WDW is actually built in Google Earth in 3-d, if you havent seen this activate 3-d in google earth and go close in on the Magic Kingdom and let it load, it takes a bit.
I think Google earth of SDC would be a lot of fun.
SDC could let them let them roll through, it wouldn't be in theme but I think we could live with the trike for the results.
This year when I go to SDC I am going to take pictures or videos while walking through the park and shops. A Day in the Life of an SDC-goer. I hope it goes well because I need my SDC fix every once in a while.
that would be a great add-on to google earth..
then we could visit 24/7!!!
That would be great! AND we could drink whatever we wanted to while looking at the picture on the puter. LOL!
THAT idea, Haytater, is exactly what I was hoping for! I had mentioned that sometime back. I thought it owuld be cool to have a video camera running at around eye level so that anyone can visit SDC anytime and have the eye level view.
Or...
Just take a dump truck full of pics to have on here so that we can see almost anyplace we want. I hope it works out for you too!
this sounds like a possible idea for IMAX, or maybe something on those lines.. Somehow i think there will be lots of video/picturess this year!
I apologize if this has been posted before (don't think I noticed it anywhere). Here is the link for Google Maps showing the entrance to SDC in 3D

Oh COOL! I've never seen that! I wonder who did it!
Nice, someone needs to do the entire park !!
first the park, then turn on the surround sound, wildfire and TNT in the background.. oh man!! here we go!
Here's the solution we need:

That just made my day!! But I do want more...
;D
how neat is that ??? LOL
That is really awesome. 36 cameras in that thing. I wonder what the cost will be?
pulled up website, not available for purchase yet,,, says they are looking for investers..... anybody interetsed???? LOL
i tried too post earlier but for some reason it didnt show up. said i had already posted. but i dont see it here, anyway what i tried too post was cool i want one.
Investors are a good thing, they can get the production costs, and sale costs down for us consumers!
Didn't want to make a new thread for this, but some might be interested to see that Bing Maps' images of SDC have been updated recently. Looks like the images are from early this season, making them even fresher than Google Maps at the moment

Awesome find!
I love Bing's "bird eye" view, (aerial pictures taken from an airplane which gives better depth) but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be available for this area of Branson.
Either way, this is an excellent catch! :)
i think I could spend the day looking at sdc! Thanks for the great find!
Reviving this old thread, because of a recent news article.
I don't think Google would have to pay any of us, they could just donate the backpack camera, and any of us would hike around all day with it.
They do need to make a ride-friendly version, though. ;D
And, the camera might capture a lot of taffy and fudge and the pickers....

QuoteGoogle Maps is interested in having folks take to the trails and capture the scenes using their Trekker camera back pack camera system. The Trekker is a 42-pound backpack that houses a 15-lens camera system and is powered by an Android device.
...
Google is making Trekker available for non-profits, university, research, tourism entities, or even individuals. You can get to the online application here. (http://www.google.com/help/maps/streetview/learn/cars-trikes-and-more.html#trekker)
Sounds like fun! I would totally do this!
They would have to have a one for people that ride rides and another for the people that like crafts / shows. Just to get the full effect
I use 1960s cameras and get stares....think about the looks you'd get wearing this one!
In the hills, 42 pounds would be a beast!
I saw some footage from a 1960s camera taken in 2004. Was that yours?
Has anybody taken their Google Nexus 4 and done any photo-spheres in the park yet? I should have done it at Christmas time and I forgot.
If you haven't seen them they are basically 360 panorama's. These are from when Google first released the phone:

iPhone panoramas aren't 360 degrees, but I plan to shoot a bunch when I visit.
Photosynth on the iPhone app allows for full views allowing for full 360 views up down left right etc.....
I just purchased a new point-and-shoot camera from Sony which has a 360 degree feature. I cannot wait to get to the city, and try it out! :)
Awesome people!
It will be nice to look at these 360's when we can't actually visit in person.

Oh, what model? I've got a Sony Cybershot, and I LOVE it. The quality of pictures is great. The panorama feature leaves a tidbit to be desired (you've gotta be EXTRA steady, and the quality drops hard if you're anywhere but in nice sunlight), but I like it all the same. Maybe you have a newer version? 'Cause I don't think mine is actually 360-degree.
I am a huge Sony fan! The most recent camera that I purchased is the DSC-WX300 which just came out in May. It still has some of the other panorama quirks of having to be steady while shooting, and the image is a bit grainy when you zoom in really close. However, I still love the new 360 degree feature! I'm trying to brainstorm of other areas at Silver Dollar City that would be fun to shoot in panorama. :)
This would be nice. Google has already added SF in Eureka, MO to its street view.\
Ship it on the Frisco!!!
