Title: SDC collectables....
Post by: sanddunerider on February 27, 2011, 10:24:19 AM
Ok, i do some cruising on Ebay & Craigslist, like some you othesr do. ( for instance the mule for sale last week).

I found a couple of records that i had not seen before, and i know there a some music enthusiasts on the board. So here is the link to them.\

I also saw somebody "selling" there 50th ann. x-mas ornament. $50.00!!!

I thought I would start a new thread< If you see something new/unique put it on here. Now I would expect to see every post card or every little item listed. Just things that maybe we dont see everyday.

And if you are looking for something specific, Post it and "we" can watch for it too.

The Sounds of SDC album was released about 1980 or 81, and is still fairly common to find on ebay and second hand shops. For a clean copy of this, you should not have to pay more than ten to twenty dollars. I would not invest any more than that. I'd recommend the album to any hardcore fans who want to take an audio trip back in time to that era. I worked at SDC, and was present for some of the recording, and I have a copy myself.

Every few days i just cruise ebay to see what may show up.
the other day i bought a "fannie pack" for the wife to carry stuff in while we are there.

Over the years, SDC had made hundreds of novelty items that were sold in the stores. The really touristy type things were sold primarily in the Hospitality House and Ozark Marketplace. The crafts and better made items sold in the shops on park. In the mid to late 70s, they sold a couple of childrens books... Rocky and the Rootbeer Factory, which was the theme at the time at the treehouse, and an ABC's of SDC. I'd love to have good copies of both now. As an employee, I regularly cruised the shops for intersting items. Seldom bought things though, because of the prices. When I started at SDC in 1978, I made $2.35 per hour. When I left in 1984, I made the ripe sum of $4.35 per hour. (Hey, it was pretty good money for the times!) So I really couldn't buy that handcarved carousel horse at the woodcarvers shop, or the handcarved and crafted Hawkens Rifle in the gun shop.

In fact it is one of them! (Not THE one, but one of the hundreds of thousands of copies they made in the early 60's)

I haven't seen many of this map.

SDC Board Game on eBay. Buy Now $42.99   or Best offer. Seems a bit steep to me, but maybe that's because I already have one. If I didn't it might be another story. These do not come up too often. If any one here is going to bid I would suggest talking them down to a more reasonable price. Fun Game, and a GREAT part of SDC history. I would say it is worth $30 if you can work that.
