I was watching across the universe at home and the scene where they are bowling came on and they were singin a beetles song right and I was singing along very off key and my son asks me momma where did you learn that and I sat and thought a moment and it hit me! Silver Dollar City is where I learned it. The Sons of the Silver Dollar sing a version of it and call it BeetleGrass. So I ask you what are some facts that you have learned from the city??
You don't look over the bridge or you will ge smoke in your eyes... ;)
dont stand on the bridge and watch the logs come down on the plunge.
Quotedont stand on the bridge and watch the logs come down on the plunge.
I did that to my 5 year old daughter last summer ;D ;D ;D ;D
"He who has three enemy's should agree with two"
be careful where you stand around RB.. :o
When they say you will get wet on this ride... they mean it
yes, yes they do. :o
1) Hatfields and McCoys just don't get along.
2) Be careful around men who wear black hoods and carry torches. In fact, "run boys run, don't be slow, fire on the mountain, fire in the hole!"
3) Uncle Rube's invention holds all records for springing leaks.
4) The Rainmaker will let you watch his mule slobber for only twenty five cents.
5) At Jim Owens Float Trip you got to float the mighty James River, the only river to run in a complete circle.
6) Funnel cakes are the fifth food group.
7) "You sweat a little water, you sweat a little blood, and you might get out if the mine don't flood..."
8) Lye soap is equally good at cleanin' out young ones mouths as it is for catfish bait.
9) Ladies should turn their heads at Hobo Junction. (The other way, ladies!)
10) The folks at Wilson's Farm are mighty big swingers. ;D
Way to go junior. A "Ten" list:!!
Awesome Junior! That made me smile nice and big!
read juniors list last nite and was still thinking about it today. YEA I KNOW>>!! I need to get back to work!
Uh, oh....Junior's cuttin' in on my Top Ten territory! >:( :D Watch it, Junior, or we might just haveta commence ta' feudin'! :D ;)
I learned that there is no peace like the peace and serenity at SDC!
I have also learned that there has been no amusement park, park, or grounds that have had the magnetic pull that SDC does to me. Period.
I know why they call them wild women :o :o ;D
Thanks to SDC, i have learned what relaxation & mind set is. And, what a out of control feeling is without drugs & alchohol. But the biggest thing i learned was NOT to tell ya'r new girlfriend she wont get wet on the ol' water boggen ride.. >:( Oh she was MAD.. it was her 1st time at the park since the 70s. We HAD TO go back to the motel just so she could change. :-X Nothin' like a pissed off indian.... :o
LMAO!! Oh how-do!! you shoulda known better!
I learned that 4 hours in a car really isn't that far!
Sometimes that 4 hours takes foreverrrrrrrrrrrr! AND I always hate the drive home.
I concour! The 4 hours cannot come quick enough going there for me, but on the way home it evens out because it always ends up feeling like 6 or 8 instead!
If you're staying over in Marmaros, keep at eye on your pants.
If the canary's dead, row faster.
Don't ride the frogs.
All the silver is imported.
Don't sit near the bar if you're an older, balding man.
There's a great past ahead of you.
Grandfather is one weird dude.
Hobos shower constantly.
If you want to see a snake in the grass, mow the grass.
All dining tables are not created equal.
congrats!! another "ten" list!
speaking of drive times.. i have learned that i can deal with driving the first 2 hours than the last 2 hours.
i've also learned at SDC that people are much nicer when in the park than out in public.
How-do, you said in the above post that you found out folks were friendlier on the park then out there in real life. I found that to be true, too. I first really noticed this in 1996 while my wife and daughter and I made a trip to Orlando, and were making the rounds at Magic Kingdom, the other Disney parks, and Universal Studios. The area is an INTERNATIONAL destination, and many times we were in line with people who spoke different languages and wore clothing traditional in their countries. People from India got along with Saudi Arabians, Europeans got along with Americans, Well, everybody just got along. There were no disputes, no sly comments, everyone got along. It just appeared that no matter where they came from or who they were, we all were sharing the Disney/Universal/Orlando vacation experience, and the troubles and strife that we had in everyday life were gone, and everyone was having a good time. I've noticed that at SDC and in Branson, too. Most people just chill out and enjoy the vacation experience, which is nice. If we can be better people at SDC...we can everywhere we go, don't you agree?
Junior, Well Put.
I agree, great words Junior!

It seems to take longer to sit thru my 90 min math class than it does to sit in a car for 3 hours! (only if I'm going to SDC)
I love relating things to SDC and the transit. After a Dr. waiting room or a line at the DMV, I think, hmm, I'd be in Rolla by now!

I do the same thing! Well, sort of. After three hours into my shift at work, I think about how I could have made it to Branson by now. ;D
I've also learned to watch my head while getting off the tram, and to enjoy my day at Silver Dollar City!
FUNNEL CAKES ARE A FOOD GROUP??? Man, that's the best news I've heard all day! Yee! Haw!

Blasphemy! :o ;)
One funnel cake per visit is an absolute requirement for me. Although I usually end up eating into the wind, and getting the sugar powder all over my clothes.
Ozark BBQ, is their another way to eat them that I am unaware of? :)

I always get fried ice cream on my funnel cakes with hot fudge and powdered sugar. I've trained myself to eat the whole thing without getting sick, so my friends think they can show me up and eat the same thing. I end up eating all of mine and finishing theirs.
