well okla, i just posted on another thread that i will be the 24-25 for sure, But am really considering doing the 17th. JUST because, I have never done the opening day thing.
Have to see how the next 30 days progresses and make that decision then..
I wish I could be there Opening Day, but unfortunately our Spring Break is UBER-early (aka, first full week of March), so I will have class that Thursday and Friday. Maybe that Saturday, if I'm lucky.
I'm planning on going Fri/Sat but won't be able to make it on Thursday the 17th.
i checked and there will only be 4 "shows" going on at that time... looks like the full schedule does not start until 4-7..
Anyone else relize that Opening Day is St. Patrick's Day? ;D
Sounds like more of the shops are going to be open this year and that's a great move.
I would love to see some less generic merchandise, last year they seemed to scrap the Nature store. Here's to hoping they will start to include interesting things into there
stores and stray away from made in china merchandise.

Yes, because I will be in KC with my band for their huge parade
I hafta admit I am getting the fever....itchy feet......SDC ITIS!!! It was so bad my kiddo and I watched SDC clips on the computer. We rode powderkeg, wildfire, fire in the hole.....we even rode the train, shook our fists and yelled ugly and gave alfie and ralphie bowlin money......if I were only already there!!!
yes, i thought about that last week....
I'm gettin' the SDC Fever...only about a month to go...can't wait!!!
YES! time wise we are for sure on the down hill run!
lets hope no one trips on the way down!!!!
just "stirrin' the soup.."
20 DAYS & COUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Thanks how-do. I wondered how much time was left?? ::)
Not much longer. Are all the rides going to be open on opening day?
According to the schedule, yes everything will be running. BUT of course you have the weather factor.
looking for the temperature guide now... I will post the link when i find it.
I'd love to go during spring break but I can't go to Silver Dollar City unless Carrie's Candles is open. Anyone know why it is never open on opening day? Too many candles to make?
ok, 2 weeks away.. who's doing what and when during the 2 week spring break.?
I am going on the 17th and 18th and then possible on the 26th and 27th....
Less than 2 weeks left... Here was SDC yesterday.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed...hoping I can get out to the park on opening day. We'll see

Oh brother. ::)
Hard to believe we are less than 2 days away from opening...wished I could be there...Somebody take pictures for me...I can smell the pork rinds now...
getting close now... sure wish i could justify the drive down thursday then back home, then back on sunday........... If fuel wasnt ............................... oh well.
despite fuel prices, it's still usually the cheapest expense on a trip...just tryin' to help you justify a trip (hoping you'll get me some pictures too...)
We will get you some pics..
If i were not going down sunday/monday, I would for sure be there thursday, but i cant stay for 5 days.
SO there ya go... do what i have to do!
Just glad I am close enough to have the options.. ;D ( sorry josh)
Looking forward to the pics....Thanks
I have tentative plans to be at the park tomorrow, opening day. If all goes well, I will arrive very early, about an hour before park opening for breakfast at the mill. I'll report back later this evening. If I go, I will take the camera and post photos on the Flickr site by this time tomorrow. If anyone wants to meet, perhaps we can make arrangements here later tonight. I will post here in a few hours when I have a better idea on if I can go...have to check the financial situation and get a thumbs up from my wife who will have to work tomorrow and won't be able to go if I can!
well good luck tomorrow! for you junior! and everybody else that is lucky enough to go tomorrow ;D ;D...
wish i could be there,
but just is not going to happen :'(
All who are making it out to the park have a blast and take lots of pictures!
Think it's a "go" for Thursday. I'll try to be at the mill at 8:30am for breakfast. Any takers? Hope to see ya there! I'll check this site about 6:30am and see who responds. After then, I'll hopefully be on the road. ;D
SEE YOU AT SILVER DOLLAR CITY TODAY!!! ;D
I am at work. Feeling very jealous. It aint right. Gonna go pout fer awhile. But I hope all you lucky people have a good time at the opening of the 2011 season. Don't mind me. Staring at grey walls. No yummy smells. No birds or people singing. AAAAAAAAAAAA!
SUX!!! i was still hoping dor a last minute run!, but aint going to happen. ;D ;D
So with 1 hour and 45 minutes until opening ::).................
HAVE FUN for all us that cant make it today!! Lets see some pics!
I'll be in Eureka Springs today and tomorrow so waft some of those SDC aromas over to me. See you in October, SDC! Wish I could be there today! We are traveling today and are about to stop at Cracker Barrel. Is that easing the pain or adding salt to the wound?
25 min till they drop the rope.
Wish I was there.

yes, on both counts LOL ;D
SO envious of ya'll who are there today. Stupid college for having Spring Break so early that it didn't line up with SDC Spring Break Days... *mumbles*
And what a BEAUTIFUL day weather-wise for Opening Day! Wow.
well opening day is almost over! what a beeeeutiful day!! 81 degrees here and no wind!
WOW!!
wish i could have been there, sunday for sure..
Under the "Happy SDC Opening Day" thread I have a lengthy trip report for opening day, 2011. Photos posted on the Flickr site:

Great pics Junior. Now I know what I am missing. Glad that Jack still remembers you.
well supposed to be 80 degrees and partly cloudy tomorrow.(sunday). We will see!
Saw this story on twitter: http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-tourism-officials-hope-big-silver-dollar-city-opening-day-is-good-omen-for-2011-20110317,0,94779.story?track=rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter (http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-tourism-officials-hope-big-silver-dollar-city-opening-day-is-good-omen-for-2011-20110317,0,94779.story?track=rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter) SDC had 8,000 people within the first couple of hours on opening day and I saw on Facebook that attendance got up to about 13,000! I haven't seen anyone comment on the wait for rides. Were the lines long?
WOW! thats a pretty impressive number for opening day on a thursday.
If i remember on their 50th weekend they had about 15,000 per day.
so 13,000 is a very respectable number,
PTB have to be happy with that turnout!
Numbers were good on opening day. Lines at FITH all the way back to saloon. Powderkeg and Train and Flooded Mine lines all very long too.
i was told sunday that weekends count was
thurs over 13000
fri 12500
sat less than 9000
sunday 11500-12000
pretty good start for the year!
