Title: FLASHBACK: 1984 Season!
Post by: Junior on January 29, 2011, 10:52:32 AM
My time as a "citizen" at SDC was quickly drawing to a close (I worked only three weeks in August at SDC)...The new things to do at SDC that summer included Greedy Brothers Treasure Excursion, the Hatfield Haint stage show, and a new show in Echo Hollow with Rodney Dillard and "Mercy Purvis"...SDC employees learned that June that the diving bell would be replaced with the lost river. It all happened in 1984. Take a trip back in time with me and see the brochure, a detail of the pathfinder, an announcement about the new lost river in the company newsletter, and a letter I recieved from the personnel office that December regarding employment in the 1985 season. It's all on the Flickr site:

Best evening show.

Best Playhouse show.

And the end of a terrifically creative attraction.

I know that it's just a publicity shot, but I am freaking out over the kids "touching" the candy cane that June is displaying.  Ewwww!

My Flickr account is about at full capacity, and I will soon clear most of the stuff off of that site to make room for new photos for the 2011 season. I'll probably clear things out in about two weeks. So take another look at what's posted there, because soon most of it will be gone! I'll tuck things back into my files so I can pull out and post some new stuff. Thanks!
