Well....'bout that time again for SDC to close it's gates and make us painfully wait until season 2011 revs up. So....how do we fill that void....that space? How do we get that "fix?" Here are a few suggestions.....
10. Drive around the block of a burning building over and over again. (A victimless burning, of course)
9. Go to the local Bass Pro Shop or ol' timey grocery. Buy cartfulls of everything you miss at SDC (Taffy, honey, etc.)
8. Watch western movies that have saloon show scenes, just to watchthe saloon show scenes!!
7. Miss the crafts?? Go to the local Home Depot or Lowe's and watch the workers cut glass and lumber and make keys.
6. Go back through the many entries of the Top Ten "Ways to make your home more like SDC" and apply accordingly.
5. Watch the SDC "Beverly Hillbillies" episodes hours on end on a constant loop.
4. Buy a lot of non-perishable food, rent a "Johnny On The Spot"and get that first parking spot to be in line for the 2011 opening!
3. Join a website called SDCFans.com, gaze longingly at every picture posted within site. (Whoops...I guess we're all a little guilty of that one already, huh?! LOL!)
2. Drive through Branson....just to be near SDC!
And the number one "SDC fix:.....
Load Flooded Mine song into iPod, visit local state pen, listen to FM song as you walk down the cell blocks.
10. Play bluegrass music...everyday... all day long
9. Tell everyone you know about these forums
8. Talk to your mom about old rides and show her pictures from this site
7. Scour the web for hours on end looking for old SDC pictures
6. Watch the train ride on youtube (did that yesterday)
5. Use all the jokes from the train ride every chance you get.
4. Play the mineride song on the mandolin until your kids beg to go back to school.
3. Go to every craft show you can find from now to mid March
2. Hang out at Bass Pro every Saturday (Outdoor World OKC)
1. Have a countdown timer (like they have for days till Christmas) programmed for opening day.
ok. ok. dont have 10 things to do yet.. BUT dont forget to play parson's SDC Monopoly game! ok thats 1,
^^ ;D
i know! i know! lets speculate about NEW rides and attractions!!! :o :o :o :o What an idea?? huh!!!! ??? ??? ??? ::) ::) ::) lol
Here is my humble attempt.
1. Eat at a Cracker Barrel at least once a week.
2. Run out into a parking lot after a rain shower for that Silver Dollar City asphalt smell.
3. Go up to someone drinking from a water fountain, and yell "McCoys only, no Hatfields!"
4. Enter a candy store, and ask for homemade peanut brittle.
5. While waiting at a railroad crossing, shake your fist, and shout "Ugly!" when the last train car rolls by.
6. Put the "Fire in the Hole" theme as your ring tone.
7. When going out on a date with a girl you greet her with "Howdy Toots!"
8. You visit your aunt, nickname her Judy, and patiently wait for her to tell you her stories.
9. You go to the County Fair just for the funnel cake.
10. Before dropping a friend off in your car you say "Watch your head folks. You have a great past ahead of you, and enjoy your day at Silver Dollar City!" :)
"howdy toots". Now thats funny!
In class when the bell rings I will say "Please push down then pull up on the lapbars exit to the left, and remember to take all your items before leaving"

Excellent :)
I will emcee any drive with the wife just like in the tram ride to and from the park. "Watch your headwhen you exit, and if you don't watch your head...WATCH YOUR MOUTH!!!"
Driver when you're clear!
The irony is most of the time I am the driver, and the emcee all in one. :P
When you are coming down your street announce "Is there anyone for parking Lot A?" even if someone speaks up, go right on to "B" ..."Okay one for B...and act as if your house is Lot B.
"Driver when your clear"
Did that coming out of the Kids high school parking lot the other day.
I thought I was the only one...
This is kinda like an SDC addicts support group.
"""This is kinda like an SDC addicts support group""", :o :o Just kinda???? LOL!
Yah I am waiting for my wife to stage the intervention!
Here's a good one....
You pester and prod certain people (looking at you, Rube and How-Do) to keep posting their photos so you can see SDC without being there! :D ::)
Speaking of that Andy, I have my most recent pictures for Silver Dollar City saved on a flash drive. Often while on break at work, I will plug in my flash drive, and crank up some bluegrass on my MP3 player, and relive my trip through my saved pictures. ;D
ozark, great idea! just looking at picures is ok, but lacking something... music would do it!
Cook a whole meal, and then just give my wife just a sample, and the recipe...
^I believe we have a winner. You tongue has been placed firmly into your cheek.
:-X
go out to ya'r local music store or whatever & try to find some bluegrass CDs
I've given up on quality bluegrass at my local music store. Hello, amazon.com! :P
Answer your phone "HOWDY!!!!"
and close each conversation with "Ya'll come back now ya' hear?"

I am the only one that already does that?
LOL ;D ;D ;D
1. Ozark - Cracker Barrel is my favorite way to get that good ol' Silver Dollar City feeling, too!
2. Go to Hobby Lobby or any craft store during the fall and Christmas season to see all the decorations.
3. Take the back roads that are curvy and surrounded by trees when I go home from college.
4. I have apple cinnamon and maple scented candles in my room.
5. Look through family trip pictures to SDC
6. Make my own version of Sufferin' Succotash
That's all I got!
save ya'r apple butter from SDC till this time of the season. mmmm.... :)
TAFFY!!!!!
Anytime a student at school asks me for something, ask them if they have a season pass.
Watch Little House on The Prairie and wonder... did people really cry this much in the 19th century? No one ever cries at SDC!
I do. When it's time to leave. ;D
BA HA HA HA HA HA :D...thats great I didn't think of that!
Hah! I used to pretend I was Laura Ingalls when I was at SDC!
Me too! wait no...Though I never read the books, I have been watching the show lately, and it just makes me want to go to SDC!
Yep, I get the same feelings too. "Little House", certain shows on RFD-TV.....*sigh*
RFD gets me, too! It's so comforting to know I'm not the only crazy who thinks about Silver Dollar City nearly every day! For the longest time I thought I was the only one. ;)
OK, its only about a month and a half until the park opens again...hold it together, ya'll! ;)
You tell them junior..
SDC opening is just like spring/summer..... We are one day closer!!!
about 49 days left.............
Another "fix".... you break off some actual SDC asphalt and burn it at home when you need the ACTUAL SDC asphalt smell. You place it in a nice candle holder over a burner and surround it with SDC trinkets.
GREAT IDEA!! I have some asphalt outside!!

I'm trying....the fact that it will be opening in March makes it that much harder knowing I won't be able to go until June...it's really hard during the Bluegrass Festival when I want to be at SDC so bad but can't...it's hard living 12 hours away...sniffle...sniffle...sniffle... :)
:'( :'( :'( We feel for ya josh!!
