Is anyone planning on going to SDC on opening weekend? I was thinking about it but just noticed it was Easter Weekend.
It's definitely odd too, with the Herschends I'm almost surprised that the park is open on Sundays as it is.
Wouldn't it be awesome if SDC had an easter egg hunt though? A lot of other parks do it, and I can't think of a park with a better assortment of hiding spots.
That would be awesome to have an Easter egg hunt there!! But I'm not going to the park on Easter weekend.
I can't make it, but it would be cool if we could all try to go a certain week.
What's with the new season passes? Does anybody know? Is there to be a new system in place? The new passes are squared off and smaller. I'll be out there next week, so I'll give it a trial run.
They should have a bar code on them, right? I think they are going with the bar cod vs. sliding the ticket through.
Yeah, my passes have barcodes on them as well as having our information (name, dob, etc) printed straight on them.
I'm a tad worried about the quality of the material, though. They're not quite as plasticy as the previous passes and I worry about possible water damage.
Joy
You might be able to laminate them since they will be scanning them not sliding them. I would, however wait until you get to SDC to make sure this won't hurt them. There "New" system they implemented a couple of years ago just didn't work out.
Hate to have a melted card.
Sure would be nice to have a photo pass option, maybe charge a little extra. It would be worth it to not have to pull out another ID.
Copper needs to be the SDC blogger. The new construction photos are terrific.
I have just made my Hotel reservations. My 4 year old and I will be there on opening day and thru the weekend. I am hoping for no rain. I have never been there the day they open. I wonder if all the rides will be open?
I had sent an email to SDC because the Map on the web site is still from Christmas. I had recieved one back a few weeks ago but just got another one saying it will be updated soon. I find it strange that they open in 2 days and still have no updated map on the site.
Ok. SDC has just updated their website with the new map and Pathfinder News. Here is a link.

Thanks for the info about the map. I was on at 2:00 this morning and it had not been updated.
Is there also a show schedule?
^The show schedule was included in the link.
Be sure to tell us how opening weekend goes! If you can be sure and tell us what rides are open and closed. Thanks.
I did get on the site to find the show schedule - looks pretty light, but that's what I expected. It'll be nice to visit before a festival hits. The festivals are nice, but I enjoy just seeing the park without all the hoopla occasionally.
They list the ride opening times on the link, too. It looks like everything but the Waterboggan will be open. They also say that the furniture store will feature a new style of furniture, and there is a "new" Christian store on Main Street.
We're bringing some people who haven't been in 15 years. How fun it is to look at the park through new eyes!
I have been on opening weekend before, and I agree that it is fun to sometimes go in those rare windows when there is no festival going on. I will be there in a couple of weeks, during the opening weekend of World Fest.
