I have a poster size (approx. 22"X 34") souvenir map from SDC, circa 1975. Any suggestions as to how I could post it on this site?
You could scan it, or portions of it, and post them on a site that can accomodate the large format photos-like Flickr, and post the address for the photos on here
You could also lay it out flat and take a digital picture of it, then just post the picture on the site. I'm eager to see the map...I wish you well in getting it posted.
Thanks for your help guys. It is a cool map. It currently resides in my stuff I left at my mother's house. I showed it to my kids the other day. It's hard to believe that there was a time when the train station and the flooded mine were the back end of the park.
Taking a digital photo of it is probably the easiest. I did that with some things that were too big to fit in the scanner.
Once you get into digital format, there is an image manipulation program called GIMP (just google it) that you can use to change size, crop, and much more. It's much the same as Photoshop, but instead of costing $800, it's a free download. Like with any photo manipulation software, there is a bit of a learning curve.
How do you upload a picture to the forum? Other than Flickr. I've tried several different things, but I'm not having much luck.
One way to do it is to click "Additional Options" underneath the box that you type messages to when replying. From there click on the attach box to attach the picture file to your post.
It is better to upload to flikr though, then put the link to the image file in between [ img ] [ /img ] tags (with the spaces removed). Some people can't view message board attachments.
