Dollywood's Timber Tower and Splash Country Update

June 14th, 2011

Local news channel WBIR has two new stories out providing updates on both the status of Dollywood's troublesome Timberrrrr... Tower and the search for a new addition to Dollywood's Splash Country.

It seems Timber Tower remains shuttered, with a sign on the queue that bluntly states that the park is still in a contract dispute with the German manufacturer HUSS. The ride has suffered countless mechanical set-backs since its 2006 debut, and at one point stranded some 40 passengers at the top, who then had to be rescued over the course of over three hours. Since that incident in 2007, the ride has barely operated, and has been completely shuttered for all of this season. Until the dispute is settled, the ride will not reopen. More details Here.

Dollywood's Splash Country seems to have some kind of new children's play area and secluded area for season passholders in store for the 2012 season. In a move we've seen countless times from the Branson HFEC parks, the park sent out a survey with three different options of the concept for season passholders to choose from. The park will announce its final decision by the end of summer. More details Here.
