I will be taking my family to SDC for the Christmas festival. What do you all consider to be the best festival and what are some must sees while in the park during the Christmas festival? This will be our first time in the park during this time of the year....

My favorite festival is the Harvest Festival. However, I am a bit partial since Fall is my favorite time of the year! ;) The Old Time Christmas Festival is also another great time to go!

The Old Time Christmas definitely has its own charm, and it is hard to beat the cool crisp air, and the aroma of peppermint tickling your senses, and the millions of dazzling lights shining across every inch of the park.

Silver Dollar City is truly great all year long, and I am sure your family will have a blast when you all visit later this year. :)

what to see? in 1 day/nite?..... got to watch the tree lighting at 6:00 pm!!  Ride the train for sure...   Lots of stuff to see on Main street around the tree..  And just walk around and look... BUT be careful  Silver Dollar City accepts no reasponsibitly for strained necks while trying to see everything!  Have fun! we will be there the weekend after thanksgiving and going back the week after X-mas!

We'll be there for 3 days...thanks for the tips...if you think of anything else I'd appreciate hearing about it...we're very excited about going...It will be well worth the 12 hour drive I'm sure...plus it gives us one more chance to use our season passes...by the way, has the 50th anniversary boat been given away yet?

We are from Colorado...We love Branson and Silver Dollar City...SDC is our favorite place to go...I went probably 10 times or so when I was a kid...Now I'm married and have 4 boys ranging from 2 to 14...I first started taking my family to Branson 6 years ago...Every year we have purchased our season passes and stay for 3 weeks (we have a fifth wheel and like to make the Wilderness campground our summer home), of course going to SDC everyday. I'm a principal at an elementary school and my wife is a 3rd grade teacher so it works well with our schedule to spend some time over the summer, even though our schedule does not work well with the bluegrass festival, which to this point is my favorite festival. Little did I know that when I took my family to Nashville 6 years ago for DukeFest (for those of you who remember the Dukes of Hazzard) and decided to stop by Branson since it was on our way, that I would create such a monster (my wife)...This is all she wants to do now (we very rarely go to the mountains now that Branson is in our lives). Honestly, SDC has created some of the best memories of our lives...The thread entitled the "Aura of Silver Dollar City" echoes our thoughts of our experiences there....We have gotten both my parents, her parents, brothers/sisters-in-law, and numerous friends hooked on the place...We all got a hoot out of the "You know you've been to SDC too much when..." thread as we read everybodies entries....I love being part of this SDC Fans family...You all are great :)

Found my son's link to our SDC trip pics

Their hot chocolate is definitely WAY better than Starbucks.
