I'm thankfully no longer in school, but a girl I know is starting her senior year this year, and boy things are different at my old high school. They're starting this "Small Learning Communities" thing this year where all the students are sorted into five "houses", similar to how it's done in Harry Potter. The sorting is random, and there's no transferring once you've been sorted, so I'm feeling really sad for the seniors who are finding themselves in different "houses" than their friends... I hate the idea of kids being broken up like that.
Now, for the freshmen, that's fine, 'cause we already get split anyway at that point in time because all 8th graders go from one huge 8th grade school to being split into two different high schools. I'm just feeling sorry for the high schoolers who already have made friends and are getting separated from them; the only way they'll have classes together is through electives.
Anyway, I already have my two-year degree, but I'm thinking of going back to my college next year if the rumors are true about that campus getting more art classes next spring. Right now, the only campus of the Metro colleges that has extensive art classes is a 20-30 minute drive from where I live.
I really hope art classes will be coming closer, 'cause I really want to take as many as I can.
I hope high school treats you well, CitW... Whenever things may feel like they're getting out of hand, just think about the fact that you have college to look forward to... Because believe me, college is SO great (well, at least the community college was; don't know much about university atmosphere).
