Kolmarden's "Wildfire" Coaster Signage & Logo
« on: August 13, 2018, 04:49:53 AM »
Seeing this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU_j-HGJ8cc

Go to 1:15. Many of you might find this amusing. (I did)
Looks like a lot of Silver Dollar City being ripped off here, right?
1.) The buzzsaw blade in the log references the former water coaster "Buzzsaw Falls" signage
2.) "Wildfire" naturally is the name of SDC's B&M coaster
3.) The logo itself pretty much copies SDC's park logo silhouette as a whole

On a more serious note, is that even legal? Or is it "different" enough to not be a trademark infringement? I'd be curious to know what the Hershends would think of this "hybrid-imitation". Either way, there sure is a lot of influence here to not be a coincidence I think.

Other than that the coaster itself looks like a great looking layout with the lesser used RMC topper track design.

Trademark rules only apply to the country that they are issued in.
There was a very lengthy debate on Toilet Paper Residue when this coaster was first announced.

Honestly, SDC couldn’t care less about a park almost halfway around the world.   It’s not like it’s going to steal patronage away from SDC.

Yeah I don't see it. SDC doesn't have a world wide trademark on buzzsaws anyway. Buzzsaw Falls signage wasn't that original either. There's been a few timbermill themed rides throughout the world.

Plus, Buzzsaw has been gone almost 15 years...

This park is an hour from Stockholm, I think Americans visiting it every year likely numbers in the couple dozen range. That said, a Nordic cruise is on our check list after an Alaskan cruise.I will make sure I hit up Grona Lund and Liseburg, I might actually sneak down to this place.

They had a hell of a time getting that ride approved. They almost had to tear it down. For those wishing for more gov't, that story needs to be read. The amount of red tape they faced makes Seattle planning look like a breeze.

That coaster just looks amazing.  Makes you wonder if it would be a top 5 ride if it was built here in the states.  I've virtual rode that one a few times....lol

RMC, big first drop... looks a lot like OR.
