Well depending on if you are a tea toddler or not, there are some great places along the River Walk in San Antonio.  My personal favorite is Pat O'brien's which has awesome Hurricanes and (my favorite) Fuzzy Leprachaun's.  If you are less adventurous there is a Hard Rock Cafe there as well.  Coyote Ugly is a great place for beer - and yes they dance to "Devil Went Down to Georgia" on the bar like in the movie.  The mexican cantinas on the River Walk are hit and miss - you might like them, but I'm a mexican food snob.  I've been told there are a couple of really good steak houses along the River Walk as well, but I didn't get a chance to try them out.

Arlington is a little bit tougher.  I've had decent luck at the Chinese Buffet across the highway from the park - I forget the name.  There is a lot of chain restaurants in the area as well.  Much more "touristy-sterile" in that area and I blame the sports parks.

Could this be the "worst Six Flags park in the country"?  Well since La Ronde is in Canada (and therefore out of the running) it very well could be

Find a Pappadeaux's in the Arlington  area.

While transiting I-35, check out Jack Allen's in the Austin area.

The chicken fried NY Strip, good gawd.

^^LOL, your photos and your reaction to the park say two different things to me. The park always looks nice to me, I don't know why it gets such a bad rap. I'm sure it has the typical crappy SF operations and I know about the weird layout, but the ride collection looks solid. Anyplace that has a 100 year old wooden coaster and an Intamin hyper is on my get-to list. I hope to check it out in the next couple of years.

I'm actually a week behind you going to Dorney, Hershey, and Knoebel's. REALLY looking forward to finally checking out Knoebels and Hershey.

He is #2 on the "went to SF America" list this summer. I found the park clean and totally lacking in shade. In fact the landscaping is better kept than Great Adventure. Lots of weeds at Great Adventure but they have trees that provide shade. I found the Stand Up as atrocious and the one at Great Adventure slightly smoother and I have master on bracing my head for the elements coming up with OTSRs to minimize the headache facror. I agree that may be the worse Vekoma I have had the misfortune to ride but Great Adventure's old arrow mine train is horrible as well.

You'll find Hershey as sprawling. It takes a while to Navagate  the place . I'll tell you now, everything they say about the thigh crush on SkyRush is true. And... they make sure you are stapled in. I liked it but I'm in no hurry to get back. I'd take a Laff Trakk indoor spinner anyday. It's just good fun and with AC! I liked the dueling woodie. My train won all 4 times as I did front and back rides on each side. The Hyper is ok and the spaghetti bowl coaster isn't horrible just like the one in San Antonio. The Waterpark is ok.

Well... I do have a tendency to make even the worst park look good with my photos.   ;D
I personally think SFA gets a bad rap because there is nothing memorable about it.  Every coaster there is a clone or there is a better version of it somewhere else.  It was a ghost town when I went.  I was the ONLY person on the train for Roar, Joker's Jinx and Superman.  But like I said in my report - at least it's not La Ronde.

So apparently there is a limit to how much you are allowed to snap your flyer at Knoebels and yes I found it.  I guess it was a good thing I had a good flight as it was my only one for the evening.

Wait a minute.  Am I reading this right?  You actually got kicked off of the flyers at Knoebels for snapping?  I didn't know that was possible.  What happened?  *shocked*
This is a stick up!  Get it? Stick.... Nevermind, it's a train robbery.  I want everyone to get your hands up and act scared.

Well first you must know that I am a really really good snapper on flyers.  I can snap even the worst flyers out there so when it comes to Knoebels' flyers (which even a blind person could snap) ... well I had the entire ride rocking.  Sad part was, I wasn't even trying that hard to snap my tub.  The operator actually slowed down the ride and yelled at me before cranking it back up again.  I tried to behave then ... but I'm not good at behaving.  After the ride ended he came over and told me I was done for the night on the Flyers.

Definitely a first.  I've never heard of that happening before and I wear it like a badge of honor  8)

I so wanted to go to Knoebels but just couldn't fit it in.

Wanting to get to within the next couple of years, try to hit up the baseball hall of fame as part of it along with one the water park resorts in the Poconos.

It should be mandatory that all Vekomas with OTSRs should be replaced by the new vests.

Forgot to mention that they replaces the track on it as well. The old track is alongside the pier on the sand.

I'm trying.  I think I've worked at school this whole summer outside of 3 weeks so far.  I've got Camps the next two weeks then 1 week off before inservice starts. We get kid on August 15 this year.  I swear it keeps getting earlier each year
