I don't mind the construction, but did they really have to wall the entire area off? Hopefully they can reconfigure that soon once the walls go up. I didn't realize how many times I usually take that route to cut through the park until they closed it off.

I wonder if the new building will have any gimmicks to hold lights... Should be a nice new facade anyway.

In my update I show that there is still a path (though quite narrow) through

Ah man, that would have been helpful to see at the time. Hopefully it'll be done by the end of summer anyway.

They didn't have a choice.  From what I have heard it was slated to be done this coming off season, but it decided it needed to be done a little sooner.

So, they had a choice, and chose.

No.  What needed to be fixed decided that it wanted to be fixed now.  As in the pipes.

I wish they would turn the new place into a coffee shop.

IF it is indeed for BOH use, I would very surprised if the exterior isnt "christmas friendly",. and ready for the season...  I realize it wont have lights on the exterior , but would expect it to be sized and shaped for the midtown area, since that was the big push last year, and will be this year also.!

I’ve long said they should move Carrie’s Candles and expand the Mill into there with a coffee shop.

^Add a wifi hotspot and seating, and I could hang out in the area with my laptop.  I think we've pondered this area before as a peaceful for us trendy folks to chill.  I wouldn't drink the coffee, but that's what would give life to such an idea.

????????????????????????????????????

They can do that at any Starbucks (or McDonalds for that matter).  Leave the laptops at home and enjoy SDC for the 1880s frontier village it is!

It especially makes sense for that time of day.

Midtown Coffee

I would love this. Good coffee though. Not the crud they turn out now. It would be a huge hit in colder months.

As a writer, I can find much more inspiration at SDC that Starbucks.  Also, I don't ever intend to enter a Starbucks.

I couldnt agree more... IF I needed coffee anyhwere and my choice was S*******s, I would go without.!   I wont even say the name..

Why you ask?
They have screwed up political views as a company,
refused to support our troops 3 or 4 years ago,
and then there was the whole boy scout thing.
NOPE, I am out.  where's the coffee pot?  :)

Sand, I'm not supporting Starbucks AT ALL, but they did support the troops during the Iraqi war when my son was there as a Captain. He talked about it.  Not sure about 3 or 4 yrs. ago...what's the story there?
