Not to resurrect an old thread, but I found an article today about how they'll be starting work next week adding a 4th lane to 76 between 265 and Indian Point Road.  It says the SDC traffic capacity will be about doubled once the work is completed.  That's a relief!  Traffic can get pretty bad.  It says SDC is paying $337,000 of the $387,000 cost (the Hwy Dept. is picking up the remaining $50,000) and that it'll be done by the end of August.  My guess is this is the TIFF project, but I'm a little out of the loop.  Does anyone know if this is TIFF or something different?

Well, it's still going... http://www.1branson.com/forum/t35149.html

Looks like they're still a long way off schedule though. It'll sure be interesting to see the new bridge and everything though, I just hope they through in some green space somewhere in there.

All the wet weather must be throwing them off.  I hope there's green space too.  I have to feel that Jack and Peter Herschend must think that if there isn't any that Mary Herschend will be frowning on them from above or something like that.

They look way behind. They should just hire a company to do it for them.

It's been a very wet spring.  Hopefully we'll have some dry weather ahead so they can really start making progress.

Well, June is expected to be wet through to the end, but when this current LRC starts breaking down in preparation for the next one to set up, then things should get drier. I imagine July will be a LOT better in terms of weather.

So is the parking lot done yet? Surely in a month's time they've been able to put the asphalt down.

They have started paving the new and old Indian Point Road. They started last Saturday, the traffic was horrific. Brad Thomas ended up keeping the park open until 8 since many guests ended up arriving 1 to 2 hours late, smart move! The big hole in the parking lot is getting less shallow each day. They have not started paving the parking lots across from SDC yet, unless they started today.

Is there any talk of charging a parking fee once the new road/lot is finished?  You have to pay to park at Wild Adventures, but that's probably because the system was already in place when HFE bought the place.  Do you have to park at Dollywood?

Yes you have to park at Dollywood, you're not allowed to drive around the park.  ;)

Yes, parking at the park is $8/car -- however it is "included" for "Gold Pass" members.

^Very lame, that's a fee that you know is in place purely so that the park can scrape a little more dough out of your pockets. I'm sure SDC will get that soon as well, it's inevitable... But I'll be parking at Deer Run - parking fees are my pet peeve.
