Flooded Mine Changes!
« on: December 06, 2013, 11:10:51 AM »
Last weekend I was down at a the City and on my ride of the Flooded Mine I noticed various figures inside the ride had changed places in the ride and many were taken out to be replaced by new one. I don't have any pictures of it, but ones that got changed were the Warden at the beginning, the one cranking that pump around the beginning, the guy that spit out water, those characters on top that mine train at the beginning, and the buzz saw guys around the middle of the ride. I just thought I'd report this on the site since it seems like no one else did.

Also I have been reading this site for years. I have loved all the information being put on it. It's where I learned most of my SDC knowledge.

Welcome Scarecrow! I am eager to see what has changed when I am there around Christmas!

Thanks for the info. From time to time they change out the dummies as things wear out. Perhaps that is what they were doing.

Thanks Rube!   :)

A lot of the faces look brand new and some of them weren't even working like they usually do (the buzz saw guys). I think they are finally refurbishing the rides character. I am kinda disappointed about it. I always liked the worn down look of dummies. Wonder if they will being doing more changes in the future for the ride and Fire in the Hole since nothing major has been announced for next year except for that 'Murica festival.

I welcome the refurbishing, but please don't change the faces and characteristics. The original look of the rides is something you don't see anywhere else.

In that case, let's remove the guns and targets.  They are huge detractors from the original ride.  I don't even bother with the guns anymore, and they don't even work anyway.

I still want the guns and targets in there mainly because those have been part of the ride since I was a kid though it probably wouldn't matter much. I always liked looking around and trying to find out how all the dummies worked in the ride anyway and spotting all the gags.

Not going to lie, would love a complete refurb of both FITH and FM much like what was done with the Log Ride at KBF.

I agree Swoosh.  Ive never been to Knotts Berry Farm, but I would like to see FITH and FM get a little facelift.  I would like to see our own log ride get a facelift also.  How bout Grandaddys place?  I think 2014 should be all about refurbs around the park.

My fear about any refurb on the older attractions is the possiblity of taking out the characteristics that make them special.

That did not happen with the KBF log ride.  If the right people are behind it then it should not be a problem

More water effects to sell the Flooding aspect would be nice.

I hope that things aren't too different... I guess I'll get to see for myself soon. I do wish they would remove the guns (and this is coming from someone who has grown up with it that way), they hardly ever work.

I don't like them either. I'd rather just look around at the scenery. Have you ever noticed the smell in there? That water on concrete smell? It's almost as good as the smell of asphalt!  Hubs thinks I'm nuts when I mention it. LoL!

I know it well Gilligan...I think the same thing about the musty smell in Lost River...it is a very memory inducing smell!
