Here is a slide/picture of the entrance to the Hospitality House in 1968 with a comparable view as it looks today.  Seems like it was a lot simpler and less congested than now.  Sure is a nice touch with the older couple walking in, and  also notice the two trees on the left have sure grown up in 50 years.

Here is a slide/picture from 1961 of The Wilderness Church.  You gotta love the signs that were made during the early years of the park.  This was a time when the city square was used as parking.

Here is a slide/picture from 1968 looking down Hugo's Hill Street at the old stagecoach depot.  I am guessing it was took about at the break where you would walk to the old treehouse.   Also I believe Fire-In-The-Hole would be about right behind it and the road going to the left would go up by the Opera House and Powder Keg.

I cropped this picture on the right below so someone might tell me what I am looking at?  It looks to me like it is the slide from the Treehouse, but I always remembered sliding out and coming out facing the old Jack's Sandwich Shop, and not in the main street.  Anyway if anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it.

Is that something with wheels parked underneath?

Yes it definitely is wheels, and I seem to remember some wheels under the slide at the Treehouse.   I remember the slide would not take you clear to the end and you would have to scoot yourself a few feet to just get off it.....almost going back uphill.  This sure looks like the slide but coming out in this location just doesn't seem right.

I was looking and found a picture of the slide at the end with someone coming down.  That looks to me like it could very well be the slide because where her right hand is sure looks the same in both pictures.  Maybe it wasn't always at this location?

Here are a couple of pictures from 1968 of the cannon shoot platform that was just behind the church.  I believe there was a competition  between Union and Confederate soldiers. They would shoot  concrete filled oil cans at a target in the valley.

So wait... There used to be a slide at the end of Huck Finn's Hideaway (As I knew it)? I remember the space room where it was all black with mirrors and christmas lights... That always freaked me out when I was a kid

And a Cannon shooting platform???!?!??! That would have been so cool to see. I remember when you were able to buy and shoot muskets. My dad actually bought one from there one year on vacation

Yes there was a slide at the end of Huck Finn's Hideway but when the slide was there it was called Herman The Hermit's Tree Top House.  The slide was not there for a long time.   Yes the slide came out of what you are calling the space room or infinity room which I think it was actually called.  You could exit by sliding out or finding the door if you were lucky.   It was fairly easy to get lost because of the maze you had to walk thru and  lack of lighting.
