OTC Shows
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:18:54 PM »
Hey all.  I hope to make my first trip for OTC this year.  I'm excited for the different shows there, especially It's a Wonderful Life. I'm also hoping that the Saloon Show has the Christmas theme back again this year? Wanted to know what others' thoughts were on the different shows and which shows you all think are the best?
Also, do the shows fill up quicker than they do during the summer months due to colder weather?
Small wonder our lives have so little of God in them, when we come in touch with so little that God has made.

I don't know if they fill up quicker, but they are always full!  You will find yourself standing in line, as always, to get a seat.  Dickens is wonderful and classic!  I didn't care that much for "It's A Wonderful Life", but I was in the minority.  Most people liked it.  I plan to give it another try this year in hopes that I will change my mind and like it.  The Saloon Show is usually Christmas oriented.  Go to every show you can get into.  You'll have a great time!  The park is always outstandingly beautiful!

Your immediate battle plan should be as follows:
1. Get to the park EARLY (as in before rope drop)
2. Go to the rope on the path closest to ThuNderaTion
3. Go immediately to It's A Wonderful Life and get in line for first show

Dickens' last show of the day will be the lightest attended.
Watch the 2nd parade - go ride during the 1st parade.
The later shows of Living Nativity will be lightly attended.
You can skip Frosty - no really, skip Frosty
The Saloon Show is fun, but if you are short on time, it can be skipped.

Sweet, thanks!  I like having battle plans!  I didn't even know there was a frosty show.  Doesn't really sound appealing anyway.  Which plays are in which houses?  I guess I can always find out when I get there but I'm just curious I suppose.

if you are wanting to sit towards the front at either wonderful life or dickens.....you will need to be in line 45 - 60 minutes early...

the saloon show is about as always..

living nativity scene 20-30 minutes early

Dickens' is in the Opera House.
Living Nativity is in the Riverfront Playhouse.
Wonderful Life is in Red Gold.
Saloon is in the Saloon ;)
Frosty is in Boatworks.
The Parade stretches around town. We usually skip it so I can't recommend a best viewing location. (Although Main Street is usually packed for it, so you might avoid there.)
"Red Flanders, you come back in here and put on your pants!" "Well Sadie, I ain't got no pants no more. The dang Baldknobbers stole 'em!"

If you time it right, you can be in line for the saloon show and watch the parade at the same time

I think the best place for viewing the parade is the Grand Expo.  It has never been crowded when I was there.

I agree!  And if you're really nerdy, you can swing around through the park (not on parade route) and watch the parade again at the end of the route.  But you gotta be quick!
