Yes. The big wide stairs went up where the dulcimer shop is now and turned left to go to the galleries, of right to go to offices. There was another smaller set of stairs that came down on the far side opposit the entrance behind a stage set up to look like the back end of a show wagon. This was actualy one of the parks stages with a revovling roster of acts. The idea was to get more people to spend more time in the OMP. Great for the acts to get out of the weather, but its just on the wrong side of the H.H. and they quickly droped the stage acts and it was used exclusivly by Mark Biggs, who sold and demonstrated McSpaddin Dulcimers there for several years. Cedar Creek came in a few years after Mark left. Poor sales, bad access, and the need for office space closed the galleries after two of three seasons and it and the observation deck and the stage went away forever.

Very neat information!  I remember fetching the mail up there for Aunt June in the Candy Shop once or twice.

It is really odd to think of all the accessibility issues this would pose today if it were open.  Of course, they would probably have elevator access installed.  A piece of history lives on because of your recollection Old Guy.
