1982 SDC Tennessee Brochure
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:19:26 AM »
Found among items my sister bid on at an auction recently was a vintage 1982 SDC Tennessee brochure! It has a tie in to the Worlds Fair at Knoxville. You gotta view this brochure, I'd never seen it before...       http://www.flickr.com/photos/juniordugan

Great find!  This was the year that I went to SDC in Pigeon Forge, mainly because we went to the World's Fair that year (still have my t-shirt from the world's fair).

The cartoon style map of SDC that you have featured in the brochure was also sold as a jumbo sized souvenir map, which I also still have.

We went to the World's Fair that year, but not to SDC.  I bought a Chinese doll at the fair, and I remember the Japan exhibit had fountains in front of it.  It seems like we saw a miniature circus.  The American pavilion had a motion simulation film.

When you mentioned the fair, I had some memories pop into my mind.  I don't seem to remember to much--lol.  I was six, I believe.  Sorry to divert the thread a little.

I will soon "purge" my Flickr site, so take one last look at this old SDC Tennessee brochure before it is gone in a few days. I will tuck it away in my file cabinet and who knows how long before it is pulled out for display again!
