Here is a 6 step program...
1. Admitting that one cannot control one's addiction or compulsion;
2. Recognizing a higher power that can give strength;
3. Examining past errors with the help of a sponsor (experienced member);
4. Making amends for these errors;
5. Learning to live a new life with a new code of behavior;
6. Helping others who suffer from the same addictions or compulsions.
I think SDCfans fixes this addiction!

When I walk through Bass Pro I get the ol' SDC feeling also...Why does Bass Pro, or rather what is it about Bass Pro that helps give us a temporary SDC fix?

Bass Pro does it for me cuz we always stopped at the Springfield location then Lamberts then SDC, so its a holy trinity kinda thing in my home ya know.
The smell of asphalt and butane says home!

OMG! Someoe mentioned the asphalt smell earlier and that made my day! I opened an account just so I could post this lol!! My family loved SDC so much when I was little!

When I went to college and started growing up I would smell that asphalt smell in say, a Wal Mart parking lot in the heat of the summer and just stand there, remembering!! That's so great that someone else understands that lol!!

Welcome Flynnlee!  This is a great place to talk SDC!  Lot's of good people here!

Speaking of smells...how about the smell of burning coal at the knifemaker or blacksmith shop?  The musk of FITH and FM?  How about GM?  The Candy shop, Woodcarvers, Big Jacks and even walking out you get hit with E&D's!  Great!  Now I have to go back to SDC to get my fix.... :-\

there is nothing like standing in a parking lot with your eyes closed on a hot day and just sniff real big.  I almost get teary eyed every time!  anytime I hear anyone say fire in the hole, anytime I have taffy,  anytime I smell black powder burning, anytime I hear blue grass music,  every time I open the cabinet and there are mugs from all my yrs going to SDC or the boot shaped cups from Dixie Stampede,  any time I smell pork rinds.... I mean the list is endless.  I even have dreams with something SDC in it.  my husband laughs at me cause if I like something I become obsessed with it and SDC is one of those things (if I like it it's a passion if I don't like it then I will never like it)  the hubby just doesn't understand he didn't grow up going to SDC,  he grew up in Texas.  No I think everyone is normal,  or at least we are all weird together lol!

I dont think I need to do one, sanddune. Seems like it's been done, but just no numbers to it. I think as many smells as has been discussed, all they need is just to be put in an order.
But I believe the asphalt smell would have to be number one. You dont get the aroma of FITH, FM, HH and others on an everyday basis like you do asphalt!

Y'all get the feeling that the "aura" thing for us and SDC I have brought up so much is kinda like the "karma" belief in sports and everyday life.
