Thunderation
« on: October 11, 2010, 10:00:46 AM »
I was going through some photos and I found these.  This was the model of Thunderation set up in 1992 where the Show Lover's Booth is today.  It is currently located deep within Fire in the Hole, sorry for the bad lighting it is in a dark corner.

Too bad its in there. This is the type thing they should have put on display this year for the 50th..  There were other models of the new rides and they are apparently collecting dust.  It is a shame they didn't have a display this year and also sell the music cd's etc.

Oh my goodness I remember this model! :D

Silver Dollar City's first official major roller coaster. Ah, yes the days before they used fancy computers to advertise their new products. Perhaps I am in the dark about this, but is this model still in existence somewhere?

Thanks for sharing!

I really wish they company would do more to preserve it's history. I cannot believe this is stuck in a back corner at FITH. I know models like this take up some room, but, gosh. They did a model for Lost River I'd love to see...but I bet that one hit a dumpster and has been lost.

The ride opened in 1993, so if I remember correctly, the model was on dispay 1992-1993.

That is Awesome!!!!!! I wonder if they just forget where they put stuff, like maybe they don't remember that the THUNERATION model is kept in FITH. I wish they would put it somewhere in the park where it is visbile to guests.

Yah, I think it would be awesome, but they do need more lockers and a million other things.  I don't think this is too high on the priority list.  But I am glad to take pictures of it for you.  Maybe I can get better ones sometime.
