Shadow of the tram.

It's easy to get "close enough" to Street View for all practical purposes. All you need is a tripod, a decent camera and stitching software. Shoot one 360 panorama, move 50 feet, and repeat.

I've gone back to "visit" the German town where I was stationed, and I've seen what has changed, because they have panoramic maps.

So many walk-off opportunities!

I couldn't believe that one went 15 innings. Combined 5 runs scored on 24 combined hits.

Good win tonight. Soriano got a walkoff slam in the 13th to give the Cubs a 5-1 win over the Astros, so we stay 0.5 game behind. Go, 'Stros!

How about Willingham getting two slams in one game off the Brewers? And one was off of Suppan.  ;D ;D ;D

This is craziness tonight. We got swept at Houston, lost a series in Philly, but now we're beating the Dodgers?

For a really crazy rumor, here you go: the Brewers are looking at calling up Carlos Castillo, who is currently playing/managing with the South Louisiana Pipeliners, a team in the independent Continental Baseball League.

My local team (Texarkana Gunslingers) just blew out the Pipeliners in a 4 game sweep.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Gaslight Square

The Vanhorn’s Mercantile took the place of the original General Store. Gaslight Square provided a lot of guest employee interaction. There were heavily themed barbershop quartets and tandem bicycle riders. Beautifully dressed Victorian women and men would interact with guests in the square. The reason why it failed: “We can get Victorian anyplace,” said the guest, “We can only get Ozarks here at SDC!” As a young boy I loved it. Yes, it removed SDC from Hillbilly, but I would give anything to be back to theme.

Heh, I just said something very similar about Grand Expo:

I feel this way about the Grand Exposition.  It just doesn't seem to be SDC to me...

GE is an odd one: it's period-appropriate, but has never really fit with the theme.

The White Sox are my third-most-hated team (behind the Yankees and Braves), but Buehrle's perfect game was some impressive baseball. I'm surprised he settled for the hug with Wise: he should've kissed him square on the mouth, maybe even slipped him a little tongue.

Holliday and Lugo sure earned their keep on offense tonight!

I swear Mizzou never gets respect.

As a lifelong Razorbacks fan, I empathize.

I think the South is incorrect as well -- I really think OSU will be the team to beat this season

If not this year, then '10, when Nate Sorensen gets there ('11 if he's redshirted). He's already signed, but still has a year to go as QB at Texas High (Texarkana).

Cool, but I'd rather see a "street view" version with actual photos. Maybe one day when they're closed, drive through with a Google CarWagon.  ;D

Oh, and for super coolness, quality rider-perspective videos from the coasters.

I sure wouldn't mind getting Lincecum from the Giants, but I suspect his price tag is about to go waaaaay up.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: How was your trip?

When I was a boy you could see the park in about six hours.  Now it takes at least two days to do everything.  They need to open early in the morning so the guest have more day.

Or stay open later. I've always thought it was crazy that they close when there's a good 2-3 hours of daylight left.
