Construction/Rumors / Re: Christmas at Silver Dollar City
« on: August 17, 2017, 08:56:23 AM »
Looking forward to seeing Midtown this year.. The lights and New Facades will be great along with the new displays.

I did find it humorous the way Brad described the new Christmas Tree on Midtown...

"90 feet tall from the top of the tree to the street"...

Of course "we" know the tree will be sitting on the platform where the old treehouse was which is probably 30 - 40  feet off the street already... ;D

Yes! I got a good laugh out of that too.  ;D

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2018 Project(s) and Park Developments

Watched it LIVE, enjoyed the many references to SDC's past, along with their family values which they still seem to hold. Enjoyed Jack and Pete's little video segment at the beginning.

Doesn't look like there is going to be any theming throughout the ride (bummer) along with no tunnels (Bummer). The spinning is still a concern. I am sure I will be the only one in my family who will be able to ride it.

I would have like to seen what their plans are for the massive station they are building.

Looks like a GREAT ride overall, very excited....just missing the theming.

What ever happened to the idea/plan to rebuild the front entrance?

Looking at that extended platform, does anyone else think that riders would exit the vehicles before the train enters the station? The platform looks as if it would go right up to the track.

I am curious about the phrase Gravity "redefined". Instead of it shooting out of the station and plummeting downward, could it go in reverse up that giant hill?? That would be a 1st of its kind (i think).

Random Talk / Re: Anybody going to be at Classic weekend of the 4th?

Sanddunerider, I never actually got to meet you, but wanted you to know that we sat in pool area and enjoyed the fireworks display. Our daughter was getting sleepy and it was well past her bed time, so we headed back to the room before the end. We got to see the majority of it though!

Great 2 night stay at the Classic; this was our 2nd time at this hotel.

I know of the one that rises slowly while you eat, but haven't heard of the one that lowers. I believe there is one that rises or maybe slowly turns in Molly's Mill.

McFarlands, in the IMAX, also has 2 rising tables.

Branson Talk / Re: Shepherd of the Hills. Not going to Open
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:13:22 AM »
I thought it was odd when we were in Branson at the end of April and all of SOTH signage was still advertising Christmas.

SDC,SOTH, and Mutton Hollow all basically started off the same, but only SDC survived because they continued to make additions. They were simpler times, when all three parks existed, but only SDC could keep up with the demands of newer generations.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2017 Trip Reports
« on: May 02, 2017, 04:08:29 PM »
My Wife, 2 year old Daughter, Parents, and myself were at The City Friday, April 28, and Sunday, April 30. We skipped Saturday due to the monsoon and visited IMAX Complex, Grand Village, and Tanger Outlets.

Lots of work being done all along the 76 Strip. Sidewalks being torn-up and redone most, if not all, all the strip. You can already tell it will be much more pedestrian friendly once finished.

Meals:
Friday lunch: SDC Fri-bread
Friday dinner: Outback
Saturday lunch: Mel's Hardluck Diner
Saturday dinner: Pasghetti's
Sunday lunch: SDC Succotash
Sunday dinner: Saltgrass Steakhouse

Rides:
Flooded Mine (3 times)
Thunderation (2 times)
Train (once)
Outlaw Run (once)
Hugo & Mary's Carousel (Multiple)
Lucky's Dizzy Dogs (Multiple Times) daughters favorite
Happy Frogs (Multiple)
Butterfly something or other (Multiple)
Grandfather's Mansion
Half Dollar Hollar

Shows:
Flamenco Kings
Earth Harp (saw the very last show of the Festival)

Was overall impressed by the entire park. Flooded mine was in great working order, all effects and lighting worked great. New plantings throughout the park, fresh paint, friendly citizens, great food, etc.
Friday was cloudy with sprinkles, Friday night and all day Saturday was a downpour, Sunday and Monday was beautiful.

TimeTraveler is going to he HUGE! I've been watching the progress on here, but seeing it in person is a whole new ballgame.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: sheriff pin
« on: April 10, 2017, 10:32:46 AM »
Ah yes! It was called "Being Deputized." They still did this in the late 1980's- early 90's. I have probably 30 or more in a plastic Tupperware box.  My parents probably have the box at their house, so I can't really answer your question on rather or not it actually said Silver Dollar City on them, my guess would be that they did though.

Those little Deputy pins that the Sheriff would pass out, became an SDC staple for my family as much as the collection of dip-your-own candles from Carries Candles in Midtown.

I am very curious what the final rendering will be for this structure. This is a sky scrapper for SDC standards. Did they even have buildings this tall in the 1800's??

At first, i honestly thought this structure would be themed to a mountain, due to its sheer size, but the box shape isn't going away, and now you can see windows being placed. Its just HUGE, so what will the story be to compensate its size in an 1880's Ozark village? (i know, i know...its not Miss Mary's time anymore).
